International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21st to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga. The practice originated in ancient India over 5,000 years ago as a way to unite both body and mind. In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of International Yoga Day at the United Nations General Assembly. Since 2015, it has been observed globally on June 21st each year with the theme in 2023 being "Yoga for Unity". Yoga involves poses and breathing techniques that improve strength, flexibility, and provide mental and physical well-being by reducing stress and inflammation.
