Lightning as an alternative fuel source an analysis of the viability to use l...Luis O Maymí
This paper analyzes the viability of using lightning as an alternative energy source. It discusses thunderstorm behavior based on satellite data, hypothesizes a lightning storage facility in Florida, and considers the economic feasibility. While lightning produces a large amount of energy, capturing a meaningful percentage on a global scale would require numerous large facilities around the world, which is impractical. Additionally, experiments show that attracting enough lightning via towers or rockets to power facilities is challenging. In summary, lightning produces substantial energy but harnessing it efficiently for energy production faces significant technical and economic hurdles.

Editor's Notes
You might recognise some of the topics on the screen as those you are expected to research for your projects/essays…but how do you find sources of information?(Let them answer) Internet, Books, Journal articles (what is a journal?) Trade Journals, and newspapers.
Ok so today I will show you how to find and use some of those resources. We will look at the library catalogue and how to locate a book and request it if it is not available. We will take a look at Business Source Complete, Passport GMID and Summon which is an academic search engine. I will show you how to refine your search (make it better) for each of these. And finally, I will show you how to create nice easy references when you find information.
The first thing you must always do is to log into MyUnihub. Why? Because not only will you have access to all of your own personal information but if you log into MyUnihub then you can access everything I show you today from home. Demonstrate by logging in yourself SR1109, Manchester1 and bring them to the library catalogue.#Using globalisation (82) first then globalization (726) then globali*ation (768)Then organi*ational structures
Links we’ll be using today.
(Can use catalogue on standalone machines in library – just to check holdings/locations etc, no need to login)
Ask class how much they think we spend on resources every year? 2011/12 £1.1 millionBooks: ‘We have books which cover all subjects, including e-books which you can download onto a student PC, your laptop, I-phone or I-pad. On the spine of each book you will see a label and there are 4 different types that you may see. (Have example 7, 14, 28 day loan and Ref only book). As UGs you can borrow 12 books at a time. As PGs you can borrow 14 books at a time. Now I will show you how to find something using the library catalogue. Using globalisation (82) first then globalization (726) then globali*ation (768)Then organi*ational structures
Links we’ll be using today.
At the top you will notice that the Databases have been divided into alphabetical order. We want Business Source Complete which begins with a B so we will click on B. You can find Proquest Newsstand by clicking on P and so on.
Let me give you a little demonstration of Business Source Complete.
To access Summon again go to the My Library Portlet then click on Summon and give it a go.
So that is all for today everyone. If you need further help contact me. I have drop in sessions in the Williams building on most Fridays at 12.15-1.15 and then again at 1.45-2.45 (at the moment in WG03)
