sacrament and its place in the big picture and how it is
still relevant today.

1) Go to the relevant heading for the sacrament you have
chosen
2) Cursor over the title for a description
3) Look for the key words in the description
4) Click on the hyperlink and go to the page
5) Skim the article for relevant headings
6) Scan the text for keywords
5. e.g.
The Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation
1. Read the description on the page on Terrace
eScholar. Words such as “meaning”, “importance”
and “today’s world”, tell us its relevant.
2. Skim the headings - there is one on “Importance”
and “Meaning”.
3. Now look closer for “today’s world”. Look at the
heading, “How to grow in the gifts of Baptism?”
4. Use the ‘Ctl + F’ or ‘Cmd + F’ function to locate
keywords.
6. Note-taking: what actually do I write
down?
A few do’s:
• Use headings (Use keywords)
• Use bullet points
• Leave out unnecessary details and words
• Use abbreviations
• Underline / highlight important information
A few dont’s:
• Write whole sentences
• Copy and paste
7. What should my notes look like?
Importance of Baptism
• Most basic sacrament
• Cannot receive other sacraments unless have
baptism
• Soul receives supernatural life
• Gives grace from God
8. Remember to record the source of
your notes:
• Author?
• Year?
• Title of webpage?
• Date retrieved?
