Airbus and Boeing have been involved in a fierce duopoly in the large jet airliner market since the 1990s. Airbus began as a European consortium while the American Boeing absorbed its former arch-rival, McDonnell Douglas in a 1997 merger
Manufacturers like Lockheed Martin, Convair and Fairchild Aircraft in the United States and British Aerospace and Fokker in Europe withdrew from the market as they were no longer in a position to compete effectively
Over the years, competition has been intense; each company regularly accuses the other of receiving unfair state aid from their respective governments.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Government support and subsidies – Remember that there has been disputes and controversy around the WTO and both Boeing and Airbus receiving billions of dollars of unfair subsidies from their respective governments.Fuel prices going up have an inverse corelation to growth in air demand.

A trend we can see in this PWC graph, the US is that a large part of our military technology and aircraft is being exported. But where should they go? As GDP grows significantly, usually this allows for more money to be put in a defense budget. As we can see, the expected annual growth of GDP growth is being driven by Asian countries, Africa and Latin America.Boeing Global report

Research and Markets 2015 outlook predicts it to be a highly potential market after the recession. WAs the biggest defense budgets are declining, we need to look for opportunities in the rising nations.
Research and Markets 2015 outlook for A & D reported that despite the recession, this is a highly potential industry. While the US represent the biggest aerospace market in the world (followed by France, UK, Germany, and Canada), developing nations like China, India, Mexico and Brazil are expected to emerge as potential market places for aerospace products. 1. Brazil increase defense budget, starting to build competitive aircraft and technology in Sao Paulo2. China second place to US in second in global defense spending and has biggest demand of large aircraft. In need of solutions for growing pollution problem and high energy demands3. Mexico developed manufacturing niche ( 12 big companies paid visit to Tijuana to scope out aerospace market there)4. India has top demand for R& D. India has joined hands with Russia in the Russian-Indian Scientific and Technological Centre. They are working towards creating missiles as well as commercial aircraft. 5. United states 3rd target for manufacturing, biggest defense budget world-wide
Let’s just quickly see what the world sees when they think of Brazil in recent years….
This is all great, and it’s true that Brazil was a nation growing greatly, up to a 7% growth in 2010, millions of newly emerged middle class workers and an oil reserve that was discovered. However, in resent years the growth has slowed. In 2011, Brazil grew no more than mexico despite thriving factors and it is not expected to do better in the next couple of years. Additionally, its expensive taxes, especially those on imports, makes it hard for multinational or international companies to compete in Brazil. http://www.rosalienebacchus.com/articles/UnderstandingBrazilsTaxesOnImports_031210.html

20 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world are in china- cost the country 10% of the country’s GDP"China's tax on the import and leasing of aircraft is higher than most countries in Europe and the US. Many European countries, such as Germany and UK, levy no taxes on aircraft imports, so we are considering cutting the tax.“government’s plan to increase SEI’s share of GDP by government investment and fiat should yield significant opportunities for foreign companies due to the incentives that will be created for private investment. However, given China’s current drive to develop its indigenous innovation capabilities, these preferential policies may be biased toward domestic firms. Governemnt also has been known to “re-innovate” foreign technology.

Polution: China’s skies, waters and even sources of food are some of the most poisonously contaminated on Earth. Its efforts to curtail pollution and develop cleaner energy sources are some of the world’s most ambitious.Air traffic delays: Inefficient air-traffic control and airspace use is the main reason flights are more often delayed in China than in other major aviation countries; why their scheduled travel time, per mile flown, is much longer than in North America or Europe; and why they burn up to twice as much fuel per passenger mile in some stages of flight as their counterparts in Europe or North America.Bio fuel testing: In the effort to develop lower-carbon sources of aviation fuel, China has become the locus for efforts by Boeing and others to extract fuel more efficiently from biological sources. The concept is not a mystery. Algae, like some more complex plants, produce hydrocarbons that can be converted to a form of oil. Whatever biofuel the aviation industry creates must have the same “energy content” as current fuels, so that aircraft as big and heavy as today’s can fly at comparable speeds. It must be compatible with the design and technology of current jet engines. It must be compatible with the existing worldwide infrastructure of fuel storage and distribution. And—trickiest of all—it must be interchangeable with today’s jet fuel, which is stockpiled at airports around the world.
