- is used to talk about actions that happened at a specific time in the past.
- is form by adding /-d/ or /-ed/ to the base form of the verb.

- Example: see→saw build→built go→went do→did rise→rose
am/is/are→was/were.
- The simple past tense of some irregular verbs looks exactly like the root form:
Example: put→put cut→cut set→set cost→cost hit→hit
1.How can we know if the sentence is using a simple
past tense or past tense?
- is used when you are talking about a completed action before something in the past.
- PAST PERFECT TENSE is form by using the word “had”+ past participle of
the verb. It expresses activities that existed or occurred before another activity in
the past.
subject + had + past participle = past perfect tense.
How can we know if the sentence is using a past perfect tense?
