6 Tips to Acquire Customers with Your About PageReferralCandy
We’ve been changing things up around here at ReferralCandy – updating our site, improving our SEO, things like that. While reading up on what to do, we stumbled upon Jennifer Havice’s post “How To Use Your ‘About Us’ Page To Acquire Customers”. You can’t imagine how scandalised we were to realize how terribly under-optimized our own About page is! (We’re working on fixing that now =/)
In the meantime, here’s how you can use your About page to acquire more customers.
16 things that Panhandlers can teach us about Content MarketingBrad Farris
Successful panhandling is a lot like content marketing; it's reaching a jaded audience in a saturated market by finding a message that jumps out and moves you to action. This presentation looks at tactics and quotes taken from interviews with panhandlers and street performers and see what we can learn to make our content as effective as their cardboard signs.

Brand Storytelling with Pinterest and Social MediaBlake Morgan
Whether you're a food truck, a gourmet foods company or a food news publisher, consistently using social tools can greatly increase your following. You can cook the best food but if you don't make it find-able, no one will know you’re cooking. All the social media tools can feel overwhelming, like a broth with too many ingredients. The key is to share your story using only the most relevant tools in a way that makes sense for your individual brand. So many of us are great at creating our products, but not at promoting them. Social media tools like Pinterest make it easier than ever to tell our stories and engage communities of fans online. In this session you will learn how to tell the story of your brand leveraging sites like Pinterest and gain tactical tools you can immediately apply to your own marketing and PR plan. We will be looking at a handful of successful case studies that will inspire you on your own brand storytelling journey.
The Social Retailer: what ‘social’ means for the future of commerceTara Hunt
Most retailers are having a tough enough time keeping their inventory fresh and up to date, let alone trying to figure out how to leverage the newest, latest, greatest social platform for reaching potential customers. The good news is that leveraging the social web isn't about hopping on the newest, latest, greatest social platform. It's about thinking about your business - internally and externally - as a social organization. And what does that mean? Tara Hunt, one of the pioneers of the social web will talk about how to become a social organization without having to keep up with Twitter and how harnessing the innate socialness of the web can help you connect with your customers and build your business.
A collection of findings from the Incite Summit, held in NYC on September 18 - 19.
The Incite Summit helps large brands do innovative marketing and communications. This event focused on customer-centricity, multi-channel, big data, measurement and more.
Featuring insights from brands like Lenovo, L'Oreal, Chobani, MetLife, StubHub, Whole Foods, Smirnoff, Aflac, MolsonCoors, Mastercard, Pfizer and more.
How To Focus On The Big Picture
As a businessperson, you should not allow the paltriness in your mind to get the better of you. You should not confine yourself to thinking about petty things. What you need to think about is the big picture.
This is where you strategize, foresee and plan things to implement today so that the future of your business is stabilized.
If you only think about your current expenses and the present scenario of your business, then you are going to be stuck in the rut for a very long time. If you want you take your business to a wider clientele and really prosper with it, then you need to think about the big picture.

Brand Storytelling: A Look at the Hero and Brand JourneyKim Donlan
Consumer decisions and behaviors are increasingly driven by the opinions, tastes and preferences of an exponentially large global pool of friends, peers and influencers. Social activities have become the place where consumers tell their stories. 70% of consumers hear of other's experience of brands and 65% learn about products and services. Brand storytelling is not about telling your brand story -- it is about making the consumer the hero. Today’s consumer has the ability to share their hero journey and it is our job as marketers to be the herald of their story.
Like trying to force a square peg into a round hole, many brands are still trying to use the same strategies and tactics that work in traditional marketing channels on social media. They’re learning the hard way that instead of being followed and liked for their conversation and candor, they’re being overlooked and ignored because of their corporate speak and sales jargon. People want to do business with people, after all. In this presentation, you’ll learn not just how important it is to show the human side of your brand on social media, but a number of proven best practices for building a loyal, engaged audience there.
This presentation was given by Bob Cargill, Director of Social Media at Overdrive Interactive, and Amanda Fakhreddine, Senior Social Media Strategist at Akamai Technologies, at NEDMA's 2015 Annual Conference.

As both platforms, Facebook and Twitter, grow and become more and more popular among marketers, a different number of questions arise about the impact of being present within these social media spaces on ROI, crisis management, time management, and what makes Facebook fan pages and Twitter handles successful. Use this presentation as a tool not only to create successful fan pages and micro-blogging profiles, but to persuade your boss why you should be present on these platforms and how it will affect your bottom line.

Twitter For Business The What, Why And How To Get Started Jonnie Jensen I...jonnie jensen
What is Twitter and what has it got to do with my business? This question was on many peoples lips as I prepared to talk to Institute of Directors (IOD) members in Maidstone, Kent.
Twitter along with its social media buddies is a game changer for the way businesses talk to each other and to consumers. It's no longer enough to preach your marketing messages, people are not interested. You need to be part of the conversation, sharing your knowledge, your network and your services. Companies that choose to stay outside of the conversation and think their website is enough will get left behind.
This presentation puts into context what Twitter is and whay it is important for your business. Some top level tips to get started using it are also included. A audio track will be added.

My reasons: It’s fun, I can keep my Facebook to a tighter knit group of friends and personal – this is my business face, my business interests. I don’t tweet about my kids, but about the region, events, coupons, contests and internet marketing.
Likeminded people – tell me based on this picture is she a democrat or a republican… and win a super chick!

-Hover over “Reply” and click -The username or “handle” will appear in your tweet box -Write your response *NOTE: the difference between reply and mention: If you start your tweet with the @handle it will only be seen by those who follow both users and on your timeline. If you write anything prior to the @handle, you are “mentioning” the user and the tweet will be seen by your followers (they do not need to be following both parties) This is the same circumstance whether you are replying or starting the conversation
Tweeting frequency Some Twitter users are considered noisy because they tweet so much, whereas others can come across as standoffish because they don't tweet frequently. A good rule when you're starting out is to post at least four or five tweets per day. You'll most likely find yourself tweeting much more often than that, but if you aren't yet fully comfortable with it, use that number to get started. If you're using Twitter for your business, or if you plan to link to your products or posts on your personal blog, find a balance between the number of tweets that promote yourself and the number of tweets that provide value. You might think of this balance as an actual ratio. For example, for every link of your own that you place on Twitter, send out at least five tweets that inform, engage, and converse. If conversation and engagement are your aim, you definitely want to keep a human voice in your Twitter stream at all times

You can direct message someone if you prefer to keep things private Type “d”, space, and their @handle followed by your message or Select the dropdown on their profile and select “Send a direct message” – a window will open where you can type the specifics and click to send. Both do the same thing. The first is faster but you run the risk of tweeting your message if not done properly

Why Lists? To allow you to segment your feeds by topic, depending on if you are in personal mode, business mode etc..
Some people use lists to put their favorite Twitterers in one spot so they can quickly see just those they are really interested and still follow everyone else.
