Bender Spink
A successful example of an institution who produce horror films, Bender Spink is
the child of heads Chris Bender and J.C Spink, who have had their claws in the
horror genre firmly over the last 15 or so years, being the production company
of some of the most significant horrors of that time. They hold one of the most
successful names in horror thanks to their solid judgment of what Audiences
want as well as finding a great remake fare in movies like The Ring, and low
budget franchises of straight to DVD Butterfly Effect sequels, the company even
has their hands in upcoming high concept horrors with The Last Voyage of the
Demeter, which is a horror about the ship that brought Dracula to England.
As well as this, the company are co-working on a horror of “Avengers size
proportions” with an upcoming film Monster X, which is a story involving 10
famous monsters coming together, such as Dracula, Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein’s
Monster etc.

According to SNN Insight, Blum house are currently “current heavyweight
champion of the genre, company topper Jason Blum has his formula down to a
science.” The company rarely spends over $5 million on a film and makes
millions of profit on returns, and usually uses a strong cast to help. This company
launched to new levels of success in 2009 with Horror Movies, and the birth of
the Paranormal Activity Franchise, which have became household names of
horror films since their creation, with the first one only taking $15,000 to make
2. and making a return gross of $193 million leading to 5 more franchises of
Paranormal activity. It carries on its success with the 2012’s Sinister which was
made on a budget of $3 million and grossed $87 million .

Dimension Films
Dimension Films are now a massive American film company, founded in 1992 in
Burbank California, although it’s headquarters are now in New York City. The
studio as originally owned by Miramax in 1993, but soon became a subsidiary of
The Walt Disney Studios, due to their full purchase of Miramax Films. In the
Horror Business, Dimension are the reigning kings outside of the New Big 5 (The
biggest companies of modern time) With the scream franchises, which in total
gross of the first 3 films earning $293,548,040 in total reaping in massive profits
for the film company, as well as a place in the cult horror hall of fame, with
scream being a household name of Horror.

RKO
RKO was originally one of the Big 5 of the Golden Age of cinema from the 1920’s
– 1950’s, and although Howard Hughes ran it to the ground in the 1950’s as of
his risky motives and plans in the company, it made its name during the Second
World War, making horror films.
RKO made lots of small low budget
movies in this time, because of the
ease and low cost during financial
hardship, and this lead to RKO
having a sub-division just
specializing on horrors, fast and
quickly. This may not be around
anymore, but it could be
3. considered a father of innovation in creating low budget horror films, that could
of potentially made a lot of income and profit.

Body Snatcher (1945), I Walked with a Zombie (1943) and The Monkey’s Paw
(1933)
