Paramount Pictures is one of Hollywood's "Big Six" film studios founded in 1912. It is now owned by Viacom and owns several other production and distribution companies. In 2005, Paramount purchased DreamWorks for $1.6 billion. The Paramount logo features an image of a mountain peak with 22 stars arranged in an arch around it and the word "Paramount" in the center. The mountain represents reaching the highest points, while the stars originally represented the number of contracted actors but now symbolize Paramount's goal of reaching the top with its films. The logo has maintained the same core elements of stars, name, and mountain since 1914 while undergoing some updates.
2. Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures is another one of the Hollywood's “Big Six” it was founded by
Adolph Zukor, Jesse L. Lasky and W. W. Hodkinson in 1912 as Famous Players Film
Company. Paramount is owned by Viacom and they own Paramount Home Media
Distribution, Insurge Pictures, Paramount Famous Productions, Paramount Vantage,
Paramount Animation, Paramount Television, Melange Pictures, LLC, MTV Films,
Nickelodeon Movies and Comedy Central Films. On December the 11th 2005 paramount
motion pictures announced that they had purchased DreamWorks for $1.6 billion.
3. The Paramount logo is made up of an image of the peak of a mountain, 22 stars that
create an arch around the peak along with the words Paramount in the middle of the
arch. The word Paramount means more important than anything else that they are
supreme, the star are there because it was to represent how many actors was contracted
to Paramount which at the time was 24 which used to be the amount of stars that was
on the logo but has changed to 22 since 1974. The mountain is there to remind you of
your childhood. I think what is also trying to be put across from the mountain is because
mountains have some of the highest points in the world its always someone's goal to
reach the top and Paramount are saying that they always reach the top with their films.
4. History of the logo
Since 1914 the
Paramount logo
hasn’t changed
much as it has
always kept the
same principal with
the stars name and
mountain in mind
when updating it.
