In 1994, a team in India and UK developed InPage Urdu software for writing Urdu and other languages like Arabic. InPage is a word processor that allows typing in scripts like Urdu, Balochi, Persian, Pashto and Arabic. It became the standard software used in Pakistan's newspaper, book and magazine publishing industry for materials in Urdu and Arabic. The software includes tools for typing documents and applications in various scripts. It allows zooming in and out on documents and switching between the Urdu phonetic and English keyboards. InPage helped enable the use of Urdu and other local languages in digital publishing.
