 India is the largest democratic country. 
 The election are held in India on the basis 
of universal adult franchise from panchayat 
to parliament. 
 To conduct an independent and 
dispassionate elections, Election 
commission came into being as per the 
stipulation in the Indian constitution. 
 Election is an inevitable process in any 
democratic country.
Adult franchise 
 The people of a democratic country elect 
there own representatives directly. 
 Franchise is essential for the protection of 
human rights. 
 Any citizen in India who has completed 18 
years of age can exercise votes in the 
election regardless of his/her caste, 
creed, religion, race, community, 
language and region.
 Adult franchise is the most important 
right conferrer on a citizen in any 
democratic country.

citizens an opportunity to participate
