Suzhou Children's Hospital
The hospital reinforces it’s tie to the fluidity of the water and
the fluidity of a kite flying, the curves represents waves of
water or currents of air.
Their bright colors and shapes bring wonder and joy to
children of all ages, the colors in the building’s façade
define the hospital as a place for children and their families.
Concept:
Innovative Idea:
• Designed with all the latest concepts in pediatric healthcare
delivery. The design’s imagery puts at ease the stress and
fears of patients and their parents.
• Spaces are designed with the emotional and physical needs,
combination of natural light, and access to multiple outside
areas offer relief from anxiety and improves patient health.

Inspired by the human body’s natural way of growing
and healing: the process of mitosis, or cell division.
.
Concept:
Innovative Idea:
Soochow Children’s Hospital
• The hospital’s form is derived to imagine the
telophase stage of cell division.
• The sensitive use of color and texture, make the
facility welcoming and approachable.
• The building shape is designed to be flexible and
efficient, as well as helpful to the complex
patient care activities, healthcare research and
educational opportunities.

The ribs - that surround and
protect the lungs in the body.
Concept:
Innovative Idea:
• The main design is a metaphor where the hospital
represents a breathing lung supported by folding GRC
panels, that protect the interior from environmental
factors and infiltrate light.
• The GRC panels wrap the elevations and extend to shade
the rooftop, creating shaded gardens and green pockets
on the roof.

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital
To “create a hospital without walls” to provide
every patient with an operational window to
enhance hospital experience.
.
Concept:
Innovative Idea:
• The design responds to the position of the
sun and prevailing breezes.
• Vertical vegetation grows up the building to
provide the patients with direct views of
nature despite the hospital’s urban setting.

Winnie Palmer Hospital For Women & Children
Was derived from wanting to meet the needs of women and their
children within a medical and nurturing environment.
Designed in a round shape to make it easier to access resources and
make movement of staff and patients more efficient.
,
Concept:
Innovative Idea:
• The striking composition of dark glass and masonry towers creates a
unique and signature design due to it rising up from a triangular base.
• The unique design combines a sense of serenity throughout with the use
of soft, calming colors and tones.

Circle Birmingham Hospital
The hospital is based around an expandable
model which can be adaptable and enlarged
to meet clinical demand now and in the
future.
Tech-powered design which combines form
and function to boost clinical outcomes.
The flexibility in steel work has come to an
expandable and adaptable design which
leaves the hospital in good health.
Concept:
About the hospital:
Founded in: 2020
Architect: Bryden Wood
Number of Beds: 140
Form:
The architect’s design approach is
to create a form of ‘adaptive
architecture’, giving the client the
ability to adapt the building as
their needs change.
”Flexibility and adaptability in
design is key to this project”
.

The hospital is hotel-inspired, the
aim is to provide patients the
experience of a hotel rather than a
hospital.
Concept:
Circle Reading Hospital
About the hospital:
Founded in: 2012
Architect: Bryden Wood
Number of Beds: 30
Interior:
Comprises 5 operating theatres, 30 recovery
beds, and 140 bedrooms. It also houses an
imaging department and rehabilitation facility.
A design that separates critical spaces from
non-critical spaces such as consulting rooms
and waiting areas, to set up the building
typologies in line with the appropriate clinical
departments, to produce a rational design
delivering efficiency and value.
Clinical, operating and recovery areas are all
together on one floor to avoid staff moving
between levels.
Form:
Expressed as a simple box,
with glass “basket-weave”
cladding.
The glass surface creates a
high level of animation, one of
the contrasts between light
and dark with an interplay of
reflections of the sky and the
environment.

The architect wanted to design a
series of new treatment rooms
that draws an S-shaped
extension to senegalese hospital
with a snaking building
circulation echoing the rounded
shapes of the existing hospital
buildings.
Concept:
Form:
It is a passive climate design innovation to
combat the challenges of hot local weather,
the building is characterized by, a feature
which allows for all the rooms to be aired and
cooled naturally through cross ventilation.
The use of lattice-like brickwork helps block
the sun and facilitating air circulation.

”Healing environment”
The overall design was inspired by the rich
garden setting, design elements of plant life,
organic forms, exterior views, and natural
lighting concepts to enhance senses and allow
both children and adults to rediscover the
wonders of nature.
Concept:
About the hospital:
Founded in: 2012
Architect: Stanley Beaman & Sears
Number of Beds: 130
Form:
The design of facilities for children is a
mature yet lively architecture, an enriching
and fresh atmosphere, and a site design
that celebrates the role nature can play in
the healing process.
Kids have an opportunity to change the
exterior colored lights from their own rooms,
creating an ever-changing dynamic on the
building’s façade – an artful reminder of the
children being cared for at the hospital.
Interior:
The interior spaces are flooded with
natural light and views of nature are
abundant for children and families,
as well as for staff and support
personnel.
A combination of specialty finishes
and high performance materials give
the interiors a clean, modern
aesthetic, and colorful furniture and
wayfinding graphics punctuate spaces
throughout.

  • 7. The ribs - that surround and protect the lungs in the body. Concept: Innovative Idea: • The main design is a metaphor where the hospital represents a breathing lung supported by folding GRC panels, that protect the interior from environmental factors and infiltrate light. • The GRC panels wrap the elevations and extend to shade the rooftop, creating shaded gardens and green pockets on the roof.
