What is Moulding process?
 Molding or moulding is the process of manufacturing by
shaping liquid or plastic raw material using a rigid frame
called a mold or matrix into desired shape.
Types of Plastic Moulding
There are 5 types of plastic moulding that is considered to
be the most effective and most popular.
 Injection moulding
 Extrusion moulding
 Compression moulding
 Blow moulding
 Rotational moulding.
What is Injection Moulding
 Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for
producing parts by injecting molten material into a mould.
 Injection moulding is widely used for manufacturing a
variety of parts, from the smallest components to entire
body panels of cars
Types Of Injection Molding
Technology
 Thin Wall Molding.
 Gas-assisted Injection Molding
 Metal Injection Molding(Insert molding)
 Liquid Silicone Injection Molding.
 3D Printing.
Thin Wall Molding
 Thin wall injection molding is a specialized form of conventional injection
molding that focuses on mass-producing plastic parts that are thin and light
so that material cost savings can be made and cycle times can be as short as
possible. Shorter cycle times means higher productivity and lower costs per
part
 The size of a part puts a limit on how thin the wall thickness can be. For
packaging containers thin wall means wall thicknesses that are less than
0.025 inch (0.62mm) with a flow length to wall thickness greater than 200For
Example food packaging ( e.g. food containers and lids) ,automotive (e.g.
both structural and non-structural car parts), mobile telecommunications (e.g.
mobile phone housings) medical (e.g. syringes), computing equipment
Gas-assisted injection Molding
 It is a molding process
where an inert gas is
introduced at pressure,
pushing the plastic melts
into the mold extremities
at the end of the
polymer injection phase.
Metal Injection Molding
 Metal injection molding (MIM)
is a metal working process in
which finely-powdered metal is
mixed with binder material to
create a "feedstock" that is then
shaped and solidified
using injection molding.
The molding process allows high
volume, complex parts to be
shaped in a single step.
Liquid Silicone Injection

 3D printing, also known as additive
manufacturing, is a process by which

 Nylon (Polyamide) Polycarbonate. Polycarbonate compact discs
are very durable, Polyoxymethylene (POM)
,Polystyrene (PS)Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) ,
Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE)
