1. Genre:
- Main genre would be action/mystery.
- I am interested in both genres as they
are intriguing to both watch and to
make/film.
Planning: Initial
Ideas
Themes:
- Romance
- Mystery
- The theme of mystery could be portrayed
in the opening sequence through not
revealing the protagonist’s face until the
end.
- It also links closely to and strengthens the
main action genre of the sequence.
-
Inspiration:
- I have not been inspired by the opening
sequence, but I have been inspired by the
first film of the ‘Divergent’ series.
- Nevertheless, the opening sequence of
‘Divergent’ introduces the protagonist
through a voiceover
- I could use a similar technique to create a
sense of mystery in my opening sequence.
Protagonist:
- The protagonist would be a man in his
mid 30s
- We would be introduced to him at the end
of the scene, when his face will be
revealed.
- However, he would still be present in the
other scenes.
Institution name:
Conventions:
- A medium pace could be used to
portray the action genre, whilst also
simultaneously creating an atmosphere
of mystery as it would not be the
traditional fast pace of an opening
sequence of an action film.
- A mix of low key and high key lighting
could be used for certain scenes/shots
of the opening sequence to illustrate
the romance and mystery theme and
the action genre.
- The protagonist would be wearing a
black, tailored, suit to to effectively
portray him as an almost authoritative
figure.
- The name of institution/production
company would be Full Moon
Productions as it symbolises a
bright night and therefore hope.
- The name also symbolises
creativity and wisdom, an
imperative aspect of a production
company.
- Full moons are also very
stereotypically tied with romance,
mystery and crime and thus links
with the genres and themes of my
