Briefcase Mystery Left at Station Reveals Characters and Plot
1.
2. There are no key characters shown in the opening sequence, but the two main
characters that would later be introduced is the person who purposely left the
brief case there, and the person on the other end of the phone who's being
updated about the situation of the briefcase. The main key item of the film is
the brief case.
3. A brief case is left at a station purposely by one of the main characters, its left
there for the other main character to collect, but by the time the other
character arrives the brief case is missing as although the train warden did
notify the obtainment on the unknown briefcase, someone beat them to
claiming it. Then the rest of the film is trying to locate the briefcase for the
important documents inside, which you only find out what they are towards
the end of the film.
4. It will start with a long shot view of the person with the briefcase
approaching the station, which will then switch between close ups and
midshots of his journey to the station going through a tunnel, not being able
to view the persons face but only viewing the briefcase and certain items of
clothing which need to be shown so when the briefcase is put down by the
character that the audience know its them ( recognized by shoes.) The passing
of time will be shown by the train departing and many different angles of the
train leaving will be used, and then a sped up scene of many passerby's
walking past. After this an announcement on the platform asking who's the
brief case belongs to will be played through the speakers, it will then switch to
a faded shot of the inside of the train (point of view shot) of outside the
window so you can see the movement, and then it will black a voice over
saying that the briefcase has been left will be played,
5. No sequences influenced our idea until later looking into it, we already has the
idea of using a train station and then it progressed into this idea. A few
inspirational films have altered what we originally planned to do, is pulp fiction,
because it also contains a mysterious brief case and which you never find out
what's inside.
Taking of Pelham 123- the trailer to this has influenced what shots and angles
would be best to use to show the landscape and the surroundings as its similar in
using locations.
The main influence for how we address introducing the briefcase was the opening
sequence of Hitchcock strangers on a train, because the use of angles and shots,
of the two different characters both approaching the same area is effective in
making the atmosphere mysterious.
Also murder mystery thrillers such as Miss Marple & Poirot helped with the idea
as it they have a symbolic mystery to them, which we are trying to re-create with
the brief case in our film.
