1. Romeo and Juliet final project
These projects are worth 150 points. The idea is for you to express your
understanding of Romeo and Juliet in a way you are comfortable with. I will
grade each of five components: preparation, presentation, neatness,
accuracy, overall effort. These are each worth 30 points.
2. You may choose from one of the following projects:
Act out a scene from Romeo and Juliet. This needs to include props and
costumes. You may do this as a modern version. This may be done in
class as a live performance or videoed. This is a group projectand each
participant will be graded according to the group.
Create a graphic novel version of one of the scenes. This may be
submitted in hard copy (paper) format or as a computergenerated version.
You must use the original Shakespeare dialogue for your characters.
Designthe costumes for a scene. Create a portfolio of what you envision
the characters wearing in a particular scene. You must include a minimum
of four characters (you may have to include more than one scene)with an
explanation of their costume(do some researchso you can name the
various historical components).
Create a visual collage of the at least five important scenes in Romeo and
Juliet. You may create this as a hard copy using a variety of media or as a
digital project. You must label components (which scene) and include a
brief synopsis of the scenes on a separate document.
Write a five paragraph essay explaining the pivotal scene in each of the five
Acts. This is not a summary of the scenes but rather a critique of why you
feeleach is important.
Write two sonnets in the Shakespearean style. Rememberthey are in
iambic pentameter and follow a particular line to line pattern. See me for
specificinformation on this.
3. The projects are due on or before May 29th
. You will have to work on these
on your time. If you are planning to perform, let me know and we can
provide time for you to do so.
