Progress update Plan for the next Month
September We formed our group and got to
know each other well. We shared
our ideas and agreed on how we
think we should all split the tasks
amongst each other. We had a
think about what type of genre
we are all interested in so that we
all work on a genre we are keen
to research more about and
create our own Opening
sequence for. Once we chose a
genre, we got excited sharing all
our ideas on how we wanted our
opening sequence to be. As well
as this we created an ideas mind
map so that we could visualized
all of our individual ideas and
merge them together to make a
final idea.
We plan to begin digging into
more detail with our research.
e.g. carry out surveys and
questionnaires to see what our
target audience expect from us ,
this should include what genres
or sub-genres they are interested
in.
October We began to carry out our
questionnaires to find out what
our audience expect from a
Crime/mystery film. We all
worked on our film pitch. We
decided to create a video talking
about our research and our
production methods of our film
pitch. We all had a section of the
film pitch to work on e.g.
characters, location, target
audience, title of the film,
costume, Lighting, technical
considerations etc.… We then
used Adobe premiere to Edit our
film pitch.
For the next month, we plan to
dig deeper in the details of our
film production by creating a
story board in order to visualize
our scenes before starting any
filming. We are also aiming to
start the script so that when we
start filming we know exactly
what happens and when / which
scenes it needs to happen.
November We started our script writing. Ms.
Hunter introduced us to the
website CELTX which is designed
In December, we plan to finish
editing our filmpitch. However,
we know it will take a lot of time
2. for script writing. We also came
to a conclusion that we will not
have any dialogue in our opening
sequence and we would rather
drop enigmatic hints throughout
the sequence without giving away
too much. This is a suitable
decision for us because we
believe it is important to keep the
element of surprise and mystery
constant throughout the opening
sequence.
so we are hoping to finish it by
the last week of December or the
first week of January. We also
plan to start working on other
parts of our opening sequence
that are not related to the actual
filming aspect. We will work on
the production schedule to
organize our dates and timings,
we will also work on our location
map and possibly the actor plan.
December In December, we all split tasks
again in order to finish important
areas of the production of our
opening sequence including the
location map; to understand
where we are going to be filming
and if we will be needing any
consent to filmin any specific
areas. We also created an actor
plan to get to know who is playing
which role and why they are most
suited to play the role. A prop list
was also devised in order to make
sure we know exactly which
props we will be needing when
we film and if we need to buy
something before the filming.
In January, We aimto finish the
film pitch completely. We would
like to start auditions for a boy to
play the role of Roy. We also need
to call the areas that we are going
to film in and ask for consent or
fill in an online consent form. As
well as this, we would like to
begin to take our test shots to see
which scenes will work in specific
settings.
January In this month, we were able to
successfully finish a number
amount of things, however we
found that filming wasn’t as easy
as we thought. The test shots
took a long time to film,
especially because we do not
have a character to play Roy.
However, we managed to get the
consent form from Mall of the
Emirates. Later on in the month,
we began filming Lady G’s scenes
in the mall. They were very
successful!
In the next few weeks we plan to
immediately find a role for Roy as
we have fallen behind schedule
trying to find a person to play his
role. We will also continue filming
the rest of the scenes and
hopefully be done by the
beginning of February so that we
can begin editing.
3. February We have begun editing the
scenes that we have filmed
mostly Lady G’s scenes. We have
also split other tasks and are
aiming to finish them within 2
weeks. These tasks include:
Equipment list, Risk assessment,
production diary, Audience grid,
development of the protagonist
and concept etc.… we began
filming Roy’s scenes, and editing
them. We have put music and
effects on Adobe premiere.
Finish final touches of editing and
make sure that all the coursework
is finished and on our blog. We
need to edit Roy’s scenes again
and make sure the story line
matches our story board and the
script.
March Finished all the coursework that is
required on the checklist. Our
final opening sequence product is
finished and is ready to be sent to
the examiners. We sat together
and reflected on what went well
and what could’ve been done
better next time. Overall we
worked really well as a group and
we are all proud of our final
product.
