Influenza, commonly referred to as the flu, is a viral infection that presents with symptoms such as fever, body aches, and cough, which typically peak in the first 3 to 4 days and can take 1 to 2 weeks to fully resolve. Diagnosis may involve a doctor assessing symptoms and, if necessary, conducting tests to identify the type of flu virus. Vaccination is particularly critical for high-risk groups, including young children, older adults, those with chronic health issues, and pregnant women.
