• In the world of public relations the term ‘influencer’ has become an
essential part of our vocabulary. Whether you are building an
overall strategy, developing a social media push or finding a new
angle for media relations, influencers should always be a
consideration.
WHAT IS AN INFLUENCER?

• Influencers are celebrities, bloggers, journalists or social
media gurus who are highly engaged with their audience.
• Influencers are well connected and engaged with their
followers, especially on social media.
• Influencers may have influence/impact over current or
potential customers and are considered a trusted and
organic source of information.

WHY SHOULD BRANDS CARE?
• Consumers are increasingly using social media to obtain news
and information about up and coming brands, and what products
the should be trying and why.
• A recent study by Bright Local states that 88% of consumers are
more likely to trust an online review of a product as much as a
personal recommendation.
• The average attention span of a typical online viewer is only 8
seconds! Brands need to ensure their information is highly visible
and easily digestible. An influencer can help represent your
brand or product to consumers in a personable, relatable way

• There are many different social media tools that can help a brand
find the right influencer for their new product launch or continued
activation but before that, there are things a brand should consider
when looking to attract the right stakeholder.
1. Know and understand your target audience
2. Clearly define your goals for using an influencer and what you
want that person to help you achieve. (i.e. brand awareness,
to generate buzz for a product launch, grow your brand)
3. Define your influencer program budget. This will depend on
the type and size of campaign, and will determine the
number of influencers you can work with

Whether you are building an overall strategy, developing a social media push or finding a new angle for media relations, influencers should always be a consideration.

WHY SHOULD BRANDS CARE? • Consumers are increasingly using social media to obtain news and information about up and coming brands, and what products the should be trying and why. • A recent study by Bright Local states that 88% of consumers are more likely to trust an online review of a product as much as a personal recommendation. • The average attention span of a typical online viewer is only 8 seconds! Brands need to ensure their information is highly visible and easily digestible. An influencer can help represent your brand or product to consumers in a personable, relatable way

Know and understand your target audience 2. Clearly define your goals for using an influencer and what you want that person to help you achieve. (i.e. brand awareness, to generate buzz for a product launch, grow your brand) 3. Define your influencer program budget.
