Indomethacin is a non-selective COX inhibitor NSAID that can be taken orally, as eye drops, or as a suppository. It works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and neutrophil migration to reduce inflammation, fever, and pain. Indomethacin is used to treat ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, and psoriatic arthritis but can cause gastrointestinal irritation, bleeding, headaches, dizziness, and rashes as side effects. It is contraindicated in patients with epilepsy, psychiatric conditions, renal disease, pregnancy, or children.
