This document discusses sizing boilers for space heating and domestic hot water needs. It recommends using a sizing factor from the ASHRAE Handbook to account for offsetting peak demands, rather than adding the full domestic hot water load to the boiler plant size. An example is provided where the hot water load is half of the space heating load, so the sizing factor of 0.5 is used to determine only 50% of the hot water load needs to be added. This allows downsizing the boiler from a 3 million BTU/hr unit to a more appropriate 2.5 million BTU/hr unit.

In the present paper, an experimental analysis of a solar water heating collector with an integrated latent heat storage unit is presented. With the purpose to determine the performance of a device on a lab scale, but with commercial features, a flat plate solar collector with phase change material (PCM) containers under the absorber plate was constructed and tested. PCM used was a commercial semi-refined light paraffin with a melting point of 60°C. Tests were carried out in outdoor conditions from October 2016 to March 2017 starting at 7:00 AM until the collector does not transfer heat to the water after sunset. Performance variables as water inlet temperature, outlet temperature, mass flow and solar radiation were measured in order to determine a useful heat and the collector efficiency. Furthermore, operating temperatures of the glass cover, air gap, absorber plate, and PCM containers are presented. Other external variables as ambient temperature, humidity and wind speed were measured with a weather station located next to the collector. The developed prototype reached an average thermal efficiency of 24.11% and a maximum outlet temperature of 50°C. Results indicate that the absorber plate reached the PCM melting point in few cases, this suggests that the use of a PCM with a lower melting point could be a potential strategy to increase thermal storage. A thermal analysis and conclusions of the device performance are discussed.

D4476, a cell-permeant inhibitor of CK1, potentiates the action of Bromodeoxy...Atai Rabby
To elucidate the mechanism of bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) induced cellular senescence, we treated HeLa cells with D4476, a potent and specific inhibitor of casein kinase 1(CK1). We found that D4476 (10µM) treatment could arrest cell growth at G1 stage and induced cellular senescence when treated together with BrdU (10µM). However neither D4476 nor BrdU can induce cellular senescence alone, at a concentration of 10µM. These results suggest that the targets of CK1 may be involved in maintaining normal cellular process and their inactivation potentiates BrdU to induce senescence like phenomena.
Identifying Antibiotics posing potential Health Risk: Microbial Resistance Sc...Atai Rabby
The present study was undertaken to investigate the trends of antimicrobial resistance and identify antibiotics that are posing public health risk due to resistant microbes in Bangladesh. Antimicrobial resistance data of Bangladesh for last 10 years were searched out and compared with corresponding antibiotic consumption rates. In this study, a factor is introduced to identify the therapeutic sub-class of antibiotics that are mostly threatened by growing antimicrobial resistance. Highly resistance trend against several antibiotics such as cloxacillin, ampicillin, metronidazole, oxacillin, amoxicillin, tetracycline, cotrimoxazole, penicillin etc. were also indentified. Heat map analysis of this study revealed that nine antimicrobial agents: metronidazole, amoxicillin, tetracycline, cotrimoxazole, cephadine, penicillin, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline and nalidixic acid are associated with public health risk due to growing bacterial resistance. This study would significantly contribute in minimizing development and spread of antibiotic resistance by revealing the microbial resistance scenario and aid the effective antibiotic treatment options in Bangladesh.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

2. INDIRECT WATER HEATER
• Indirect tanks are often used
in combination systems,
particularly residential
applications
• An internal heat exchanger
coil separates boiler water
from domestic water
• The domestic water surrounds
the coil for efficient heat
exchange
• A pump located on the supply
line circulates hot boiler water
through the coil
3. STORAGETANK WITH EXTERNAL HEAT
EXCHANGER
• In commercial applications,
an external heat exchanger
with a larger surface area
might be used.
• Same concept as using an
indirect tank
4. USE A SIZING FACTOR
• Source: ASHRAE Handbook
• Only PART of the hot water heating
load should be added to the boiler
plant
• This is in part due to offsetting times
for peak hot water and space heating
demands
• The space heating boiler is also sized
for design day conditions – a rare
occurrence
6. AN EXAMPLE
Let’s Assume:
1,000,000 BTU/hr = Hot Water Heating Load
2,000,000 BTU/hr = Space Heating Load
Hot Water Heating Load
Space Heating Load
=
1,000,000
2,000,000
= .5 Ratio
According to the Chart, a .5 Ratio (x-axis) has a Factor (y-axis) also equal to .5
.5 x 1,000,000 = 500,000 BTU/hr additional boiler capacity
7. RESULT
Rather than sizing a 3,000,000 BTU/hr boiler plant,
ASHRAE’s factor allows for downsizing to a more appropriate 2,500,000 BTU/hr
combination boiler
This saves on upfront material cost, operating cost, and physical space
