1920 : Non-Cooperation Movement started led by Mahatma Gandhi And Gandhi become president of Indian national

1927 : Simon Commission.
1929 : Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt bombed Central Assembly.
1930 : Salt Satyagraha.
1931 : Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev Martyred 23 March.
1935 : Government of India Act 1935.
1939 : Second World War began.
1940 : Muhammed Ali Jinnah demanded that new country to be formed from india for the Muslims, which would be called
Pakistan.
1942 : Quit India Movement, Indian National Army established by Subhas Chandra Bose.
1945 : Second World War ended when United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
1946 : Royal Indian Navy Mutiny.
1946 : British government agreed to grant India Independence.
1947 : Indian leaders and British government agreed to divide the country in two parts named India and Pakistan.
1947 : India became Independent On 15 August.
1948 : Mahatma Gandhi assassinated by a right wing Hindu nationalist Nathuram Godse On 30 January.
1950 : Republic Day On 26 January.
1951 : congress Party wins General Elections under leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru and Nehru became first Prime Minister
of India.
1962 : India-China war, India won Diu Daman and Goa from Portuguese India.
1964 : Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru died.
1965 : India-Pakistan war over Kashmir dispute.
1971 : Indira Gandhi (Jawaharlal Nehru’s daughter) become Prime Minister.
1971 : India-Pakistan war over creation of Bangladesh.
1975 : Emergency Declared.
