WE Felt:
Students of DRV DAV School felt that they usually see
child labourers working at their homes as maids or at
dhabas or tea stalls. They are treated with cruelty. They
tried to know the reason why they are working as
labourers ?
Students felt that children are affected due to poverty.
We Imagine
Students of DAV public
school Phillaur did the
survey in nearby village
Saifabad focusing the
children of age group 6-
10 yrs, who are not going
to school. Students want
to bring a change in the
village. According to
them no child should be
deprived of education.
 They discussed the problem with
their parents & found that their
earning is so less that it is impossible
to send them to school. They found
one more reason that some fathers
are drug addicted so the mothers have
no money to send their children to
school.
Do??????
Story of Change-
 They discussed this problem with the teachers of work education
and asked In what way we can help them? Then it was discussed
with the principal & the Management Team. It was decided to start
a project----- “PEHCHAN” in which Work Experience teacher will
teach tailoring skills as well as the business skills to the needy
mothers
Needy and
widows were
called in the
school to make
them aware of
the project.
 The teacher trained the mothers in stitching during the
school hours so that they can become self dependent and
able to earn their living.
 Meanwhile the mothers got training,
for their livelihood, the school children
did different activities like- painted
Diyas, prepared craft items in their
Art period . They arranged a stall to
collect the sufficient amount of money
for the mothers. With the profit they
decided to pay their fee along with the
notebooks to the children & promised
to give their fee till their parents are
not able to pay.
 The needy Children got
admitted in the school. To
fulfill their requirements
of stationary & uniform,
the team distributed
notebooks, pencils, erasers
& other study materials
with the profit they gained
from the exhibition of
craft activities
Now the mothers
feel happy & proud
that they are
independent .They
can now earn their
living by stitching
cloth bags, ladies
suits, aprons, pillow
covers etc. they are
able to pay fee of
their children and
they can even fulfill
their needs.
Students are also happy to be in touch with
studies.
Now children as well as the women have their
own identity (Pehchaan) in the society.
