Why Ford of Europe’s Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs Mark Truby, a former newspaper business editor, worries about whether his company’s content is worthy of reading aloud over the breakfast table and how the launch of a new car in Germany with just 300 media present became the number one trending subject on Twitter and was watched in full by more than 360,000 people around the world. Ahead of #SMWF this June we wanted to find out more from the man himself:
1)Mark your focus is very much about creating content and storytelling but how do you manage that? What do you need to consider?
“Over the past four years we have moved from a Ford of Europe communications team focused primarily on media relations and servicing the automotive press to a team focused first and foremost on constant storytelling to a broad spectrum of media and audiences. This was a major strategic shift and required new skills and resources.
We created a content team with writers, photographers, videographers, graphic artists – people with strong backgrounds in print, broadcast and digital journalism. We augmented our Ford team with new talent on the agency side to help us tell more compelling stories and reach new audiences – such as tech, design and lifestyle press, as well as bloggers and digital influencers.”
2)What are the key elements to consider when creating any content or story for Ford and what can other businesses learn from your approach?
“We try to keep it simple and ask ourselves a few questions. Is the story interesting enough that a news editor would just have to have it for their newspaper, TV broadcast or website? Would the average person find it interesting enough to read or view, and share online? Would a husband read it aloud across the breakfast table to his wife, for example?
You have to be really honest with yourself on these questions or you will waste time and effort on the low-value stories. If a story passes those first hurdles, then we ask whether the story – once read or watched – could truly improve our corporate reputation or raise someone’s opinion of our vehicles and technologies. We have all read a story or seen a feature on TV that forever changed our perception of a person, company or organization. We quote it to friends or share it on Twitter.
This is the power of great storytelling whether you are creating it yourself or working with journalists. So, simple rules but a difficult task. It takes a lot of creativity and hard work to create content that is entertaining, interesting and meaningful.”
3)How can you reach new audiences most effectively through social media and how is this different to the traditional days of PR?

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Threats to mobile devices are more prevalent and increasing in scope and complexity. Users of mobile devices desire to take full advantage of the features
available on those devices, but many of the features provide convenience and capability but sacrifice security. This best practices guide outlines steps the users can take to better protect personal devices and information.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Data Visualization and Reporting Competition at Aarohan 2k9
On February 26th 2009, InRev in association with NIT Durgapur organized
an event on Data Visualization and Reporting. The competition was held at
a national level and saw a diverse range of students participating. The
competition required participants to use the data on US economy provided
by InRev and present a paper on their findings. Participants were free t o
use any technology. The best paper was chosen on the basis of
participants‟ skills to identify and address the problem by analyzing the
raw data.
It was very interesting to see the variety of papers being presented when
the participants were allowed to choose their own technology and
methodology. It was great to see the enthusiasm of various teams and their
interest in analytics. Many students without any prior knowledge on the
subject were also keen to participate. The success of the event was the
unmatched zeal the participants showed and the response the competition
received.
InRev understands the need of analytics in today‟s society where
information is being shared and stored every second. What we need now is
a way of representing this information to get an insight on the market,
economy and environment. This is the very foundations on which rests the
fundamentals of proper decision making. InRev believes in providing such
services to the world.
The event gave InRev an opportunity to share its vision with the young
minds who are future innovators and leaders of the society.

On February 10th , 2009 InRev launched its Social Media portal „Buzzom‟ – Buzzom as the
buzz in the social media. Anyone using twitter or involved in social media knows the
importance of the size of the network. After studying and analyzing Twitter, it was quite

Making Internet Marketing a Priority in Large Organizations
Manoj Jasra www.webanalyticsworld.net
Whether you are an in-house search marketing strategist at a large organization or you're
an agency who has a search marketing champion, there is a common barrier that you will
consistently come across: Establishing priority for search marketing in conjunction with
getting buy-in from required stake holders. Below I have outlined 5 ways you can push
search marketing strategies along more effectively within big corporations.
1. Relationships: While working at businesses (>150 employees) you will find
there are numerous stakeholders involved with every task. Establishing strong
working relationships with team members in marketing, IT, and design is
extremely beneficial in understanding the corporate structure as well as the flow
for strategic processes.
2. Quick Wins and Tips: Once you have established some decent relationships it's
a good idea to understand each individual's priorities/responsibilities. From there
you should begin to pass along occasional quick wins and tips allowing these
individuals to be more effective with their day to days tasks. This idea will really
help build your trust level and make your team members looks good infront of
their bosses.
3. Training: This is a technique I have had great success with. In order to get buy-in
on the implementation of SEO and PPC strategies from my marketing team, I
designed one hour SEO/PPC training sessions for groups of intimate groups of 5 -
7. With a better understanding in both SEO and PPC the marketing team was
more open to asking for my help in future strategies. I kept the groups small to
help promote questions and conversation during the training sessions.
4. Get Involved: If you see an opportunity to help out or add insight, take it. A
suggestion for an A/B test for an email marketing campaign, a missing
competitive term in a PPC campaign, an important tweak to a landing page or
missing meta tags for a prominent product page - Word these hidden
opportunities with benefits and you will find success.
5. Long Term: Don't just stop at the basics, once you have established relationships
and received some buy-in, continue to evangelize search marketing with on going
strategies. Find yourself a seat at meetings related to new website designs, CMS
selection, and online campaigns so that you can continue to give search marketing
a voice a the table.

7. A peek into the future
F-Cube and Global Thoughtz
InRev already has two of its other major
products and services online.
F-Cube which stands for Forecast For Free is
a portal for finding free data and graphs on
socioeconomic indicators. Right now, the data
is available for United States but very soon
we‟ll have the reports on other countries as
well.
It is primarily built for students, researchers,
economists and consultants. It also has
features to share the graphs and embed it to
any social media site. The aim is to provide
people easy access to data and allow them to
represent it in any form they‟d like.
On the other hand, Global Thoughtz is a site
where collaborative blogging is encouraged.
This is a place, where bloggers and writers
from all around the world will share their
expert views on technology, online marketing
and social media. This will integrate all the
channels through which information flows.
Through this, we get to have a place where
one topic or issue can be viewed from
different perspective. Collaborative discussion
has brought a new philosophy and
understanding to the way knowledge has been
perceived. Global thoughtz hopes to provide
the world with that platform.
