The result of changes in Communication Technology. The rapid
growth of Communication Technology is changing the way
society communicates. Today, we are witness to an evolution of
Communication Process. Many are struggling to cope with
these changes be it Individuals or Organizations. As with any
evolution process it is a necessity to adopt and adept or risk
being swept away by forces beyond our control.

There are many definitions to the term 'Social Media' but
generally it involves the use of communication technology for
sharing information and facilitating conversation between
people in an easy and social manner.

In conclusion, Social Media is just a communication tool.
As with Radios,Televisions and Phones, it is the content that
is important. In Social Media, it is the Conversation that is
important and always has been. The medium merely
facilitates the Conversation and the extent to which that
Conversation is shared. And good Conversation is about
being a good listener.


On to the Idea Competition now. Yes, an Idea suggested by
my wife..Norsamsiah, an Employee of UEM. She probably
thought that I'd laugh at her initial suggestion...but then was
pleasantly surprised when I told her “Hold on..You're on to
something big there”. Anything that has to do with
Communication is big because it is the very fabric of what
makes the world evolve. Being visually handicapped is a
great disadvantage in life and my involvement is only in
making a presentable submission of her idea, for it truly
is an endeavor worth pursuing.                 17

The Demo Application was designed using a Free version
of Website builder Wix.com.
Facebook Pages provides an Application Canvas for
Businesses to build applications in order to meet their
objectives. Recent changes in Facebook now allow for
greater and better content through use of iframes & Flash
applications. These applications are built into Tabs on the
Timeline pages itself.

So what you now have is actually a
website built into the Facebook Page.
A web within a web that offers tremendous potential
as a communications medium.

opposed to your Traditional website which is static in
content. Being fluid means most of the content will..and
must change over time in order to attract user attention
and interaction. As mentioned before, both Digital Media
forms are important and serves different purposes.
