Margaret Thatcher was born in 1925 in Grantham, Lincolnshire to a grocer. She attended Oxford University and became a barrister, later marrying businessman Denis Thatcher with whom she had two children. Thatcher became a Conservative MP in 1959 and held several cabinet positions before becoming the UK's first female Prime Minister in 1979. As Prime Minister, she advocated for policies like privatization and reducing social spending. Though controversial, she was re-elected to an unprecedented third term before resigning in 1990. She continued her advocacy and died in 2013 at age 87.
