Offshore Oi Drilling Causes Environmental Damage Essay
Oil drilling is the process of perforating oil from the earth s surface. This process can be
dangerous. The drilling process can be harmful to nearby animal life. The process used to locate
oil waves can be harmful to animal life. When the oil ascends, it brings with it a number of deadly
chemicals. The chemicals released can consist of mercury and arsenic. Other substances such as
lead have been known to ascend with the oil (Horton, Jennifer, 1).
An oil spill is the process by which oil is mistakenly dispensed. The danger and damage an oil
spill can cause is exponential. An oil spill can cause millions of dollars in damages. Oil spills are
one of the worst catastrophes that happen, and they happen frequently. It has been predicted ... Show

The animal death toll was far greater than that of the human (Clean Energy, 1). Over four thousand
animals died, and more were injured as a result of the British Petroleum oil spill (Clean Energy, 1).
Dolphins were enveloped in the oil (Clean Energy, 1). Four hundred and six dolphins lost their
lives during the eighty seven day plague (Clean Energy, 1). The bird population of the Gulf
decreased as well (Clean Energy, 1). Some of the birds were cloaked with oil (Clean Energy, 1).
Thousands of dead and suffering birds were seen floating in the black pools of oil (Clean
Energy, 1). Six thousand one hundred and twenty four birds died as a result of the Gulf oil spill
(Clean Energy, 1). However birds and dolphins were not the only victims (Clean Energy, 1). The
British Petroleum oil spill destroyed a portion of the sea turtle population found in the Gulf of
Mexico (Clean Energy, 1). Over five hundred sea turtles, some of them babies were affected by
the spill (Clean Energy, 1). A grand total of six hundred and nine sea turtles died as a result of the
spill (Clean Energy, 1). These are only the documented deaths (Clean Energy, 1). The true animal
death toll is estimated to be fifty times the number of deceased carcasses that were found floating,
or washed up on the shore (Clean Energy, 1).

Essay on Business Research for Decision Making
Business Research for Decision Making
The work of decision making involves choosing between issues that require attention, setting goals,
designing suitable courses of action and choosing among several alternatives through the evaluation
of each one of the alternatives. Of great importance in decision making is the choosing between the
several alternatives. The effectiveness of this work of decision making is of great importance for
the well being of every business activity and determines the success of every business (Kay
Miranda). In the business setup, decisions that can be made could include product improvement,
choice of an investment plan, business expansion and areas of improvement. For business leaders

The first assesses the degree to which repeated researches yield the same results; the second is
based on the stability of measurements over time while the third is based on the similarity of
measurements within a given period of time. On the other hand, Joppe (2000) suggested that a valid
research is one that truly measures what it was intended to measure. In other words, a valid research
is one that provides true results.
Quantitative research involves the use of experimental and quantitative measures to test general
hypotheses (Hoepfl, 1997). Golafshani (2003) suggested that quantitative research is based on the
measurement and the analysis of the causal relationship between variables. Through quantitative
research, the researcher is familiarized with the concept to be studied and generates the hypothesis
to be tested. As such, the mathematical process takes the norm for analyzing the numeric data and
the information gathered takes a numeric form that can be quantified and summarized. Moreover,
according to Charles (1995), the final result of the quantitative research is usually expressed in
statistical terminologies. Another aspect of quantitative research, as seen from Golafshani (2003),
is that it emphasizes on the facts and causal. Therefore, a qualitative researcher should construct an
instrument, standardize it and administer it according to predetermined procedures. However, the
concern, according to Golafshani (2003), is on its

How Does Faust Have An Effect On German Language
Classic words can influence those who read, and even those who write. For example, the iconic
play Faust. Written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1776, Faust is based off of an old
Germanic legend, but Goethe himself used his real life experiences to flesh out the titular character
in his book. As a result, Fausthas become a very culturally important and influential drama that has
had such an impact, it has even changed the German language. Von Goethe s drama, Faust, is a
drama with strong themes referring to man s dissatisfaction with the world, as the main conflict
involved a man selling his soul to a demon to achieve everything he could not attain himself.
To begin, Faust s characterization of the main character, is inspired by Wolfgang... Show more

The influence of the book has even been stated as little less than the bible (Carus). The bible has
shaped most of human existence, so for the books impact to be so important, it s influenced many
things. The German language for example, has many phrases, such as Des Pudels kern , which
translates to the core of the poodle . In the book, a poodle appears following Faust, and the poodle
eventually becomes Mephistopheles, a demon. It means the real nature of something within, which
alludes to that scene in Faust every time it is mentioned. It shows how truly impactful Faust to the
German language and lore. While Goethe s Faust may be very popular and important, the story he
wrote is not the ONLY interpretation. Several other authors have written books, symphonies, and
plethoras of forms of art based on the story behind Faust. The lore, originating around the 13th
century, the legend of Faust is about a man making a deal with the devil to receive otherworldly
powers to satisfy his humane needs. He is so dissatisfied with his knowledge, he wants more, and
this is very much like the interpretation Goethe wrote (Boyle). The story itself has spawned over
100 interpretations (Faust).
In conclusion, Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is a very famous drama not only because of
the brilliant writing. The author uses his own life to inspire the characters emotions, and in addition
to this, the famous tale behind it helped it gain

Immanuel Kant Morality
The ethics of Immanuel Kant (1724 1804) generally emphasize the necessity of morality and
reason when it comes to certain actions. In his Moral Philosophy lecture, he discusses the
essential human action of sexual desire and impulse. When reading Of Duties Towards the
Body in Respect of Sexual Impulse, Kant describes why sexual impulses are immoral and how
marriage is the only condition under which sexual impulses are permitted. Kant is right about
certain sexual impulses being immoral but sex only after marriage isn t as common as it used to
be in his day and age. In this essay, I plan to argue how Kant s views on moral and immoral sexual
impulses are still present in today s society but have changed over time. I am convinced that this is

For example, if a man desires a woman as an object of his sexual impulse and not because of who
she is as a person, her humanity is no longer a concern to him. The only object of his desire is
sex, so humanity is set aside. The two will direct all actions towards sex alone, thus sacrificing
humanity for sex. Humanity then becomes a way to satisfy their desires, which is similar to the
nature of animals. Humans are moral beings and our ability to reason distinguishes us from
animals, but sexual desire poses a threat to our humanity. Kant also mentions that it is immoral if
people allow themselves to be used for profit as an object of another s desire. They are disposing
themselves, which makes them a thing that the other satisfies his or her appetite with. Ultimately,
the person is surrendering their humanity for the other s sexual impulse, which puts their morality at
risk. I think sexual desire has become more prevalent in today s society simply because sex is no
longer seen as a sacred action. We live in a society where sex is fast, easy and a person does not
have to work hard for it, they can get it whenever they please. Kant s views on immoral sexual
impulses have reached their peak in recent generations and people believe it is okay to have one
night stands, go to strip clubs or even buy escorts to satisfy their appetites. It is also known as
casual sex and the individuals involved in this lifestyle are looking to fulfill their desires and
appetite at the cost of

Mass Incarceration In Ww2
In the face of mass incarceration and genocide during World War II, the Jews of Central Europe
had few options for safe living space. The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the
other races deemed degenerate by the former party ensured that further residence in Europe was not
an option. Additionally, Britain had become an unviable recourse. Initially, its officials had
welcomed the Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany.
The war, however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed
to an aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. Like Britain, the
United States slowed the flow of Jewish immigrants and, as Mandatory Palestine was in conflict,
there was no homeland for the Jewish people. The one safe haven left for Jewish refugees was in

For the success of a person whether man or woman, education plays an important role. Education
for the girls is more important as she not only builds the home but all routine responsibilities are
taken care of by her. An educated woman not only helps in nourishing the family in a better way
but can also help in earning. Rightly said that God made the mother because He could not be

political position of its women Charles Fourier
Education for a girl child means making the next generation well educated, full of virtues, free

She is the most crucial and reverend entity. She must be given all the necessary education. Ignoring
her, keeping her illiterate means we are creating an illiterate and ignorant generation. So it is
perfectly true that educating a girl child means educating a family.Development cannot be

We both have the horror in our heads. Upon the death of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot, in 1998,

Effects of a Misogynistic Society on Women Essay
Effects of a Misogynistic Society on Women Over the course of history, interactions between
individuals from different races, sects, cultures, religious backgrounds and genders have become a
key contribution towards helping to define current day society. These are the fine details that allow
for an individual to distinguish between him or herself and others. Race, sects, cultures and
religious backgrounds have led to ground breaking ideas such as multiculturalism and integration;
however, they have also been the prime motivation for social illnesses such as racism and
segregation. An ideal example of this would be the American society, in which, African Americans

On many occasions Mariam asks Nana if she could attend a real school, however, Nana is
reluctant and turns Mariam s notion down by saying: what s the sense in schooling a girl like
you? [...] you ll learn nothing of value in those schools [...] women like us only need one skill in
life, endure (Hossieni, 18). A deeper analysis of this quote reveals Nana s feelings and the typical
frame of mind which is harboured by most Afghani families. The quote also gives readers a better
understanding of the issue at hand, which is that even if women in Afghanistan attend school and
get an education it will amount to nothing because they are not allowed to work. Instead they
will be forced into marriage, and kept at home to complete typical chores and duties. Currently,
Afghanistan ranks ninth in the world, for female literacy rate which at the moment stands at 14%
(UNICEF). Two thirds of the nine year old girls in Afghanistan are already house wives or soon
to be married (UNICEF). As a result of this shocking statistic, women are kept at home and denied
education. Therefore, these women grow up not knowing basic things such as safe sex and ways to
keep themselves healthy. This can be exemplified through the life of Laila, whose education was
snatched away from so that she could carry out her marital duties. By the time the Taliban rose to
power, this situation had become increasingly worse. During the Taliban regime the literacy

Bellevue University Abstract
With the challenges that we, as the human race, have faced, we have also endured and conquered
some of the easiest and most of the hardest issues that had risen in the past. With more
opportunities opening up, there will also come more challenges. In Martin Luther King s speech
I Have a Dream, he was able to express the way he feels toward having the dream that one day
everyone shall be united as one. By using repetition in the power of words, dedication and hard
work, and other variables thrown in the mix of the speech, King was able to empower the people
to make a stand and fight for the opportunity of equality and freedom. Keywords: Martin Luther

Reflection Of Plato s View On Love By Socrates
Finally, toward the end of the Symposium, Socrates speaks, giving an accurate account of love
and the correct use of Eros. He opposes all of the other speakers and says that love is not all about
our pleasure and sexual deviances, but to either impregnate the body and give life, or to impregnate
the souland pass on knowledge. Socrates speaks as if Eros is a lovefor the other person, to love
someone so much that you want to enter into a bond that results in child rearing or a love for
mankind that you want to share all your knowledge with them to better their soul. He continues
that to be pregnant in the soul is better than to be pregnant in the body because when we are
pregnant in the soul, there is more to be given to others then caring for a newborn. In this
response from Socrates, it is hard to determine if he has it completely correct. I would imagine
that without people being pregnant in the body, we would eventually run out of people to pass
our knowledge on to. This, then, would have to be a both/and situation where each has a calling
to one or the other or both, and both forms of love would then be equal. Socrates is then saying
that love itself in not a god, but a messenger that is caught in between the divine realm of
immortality and the earthly realm of the mortal. Love then can reach the heights of the gods
bringing messages from man and returning to man with messages from god. Socrates is now
showing that there is some divine link between man and the divine, and this is love. This also
shines light on the fact that because each human had this link to the divine the human must in
some way be part divine and part animal. Because each human can love, can reason, and has these
animal instincts and desires, man must also be caught in between the divine and earthly worlds.
Because we cannot physically move into that divine realm, then we must have an entity that is
part of us and can move freely in between, this would be the soul. Socrates refutes all the other
speeches about taking young boys as lovers for one s own gratification and love being a god that
permits all thing in the name of pleasure. In conclusion, it is safe to say that, in our current era, Eros
is absolutely

Christopher Columbus Motives
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. This phrase is perhaps one of the most well known
historical allusions in today s age. Everyone knows the concept, but no one knows the motives
behind the expedition. No one ever asks themselves deeply on why Christopher Columbus was
able to make the voyage in the first place. The answer is always by the book, which is He
recieved funding by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Not a single person asks themselves on
why he was chosen specifically to go on this voyage. That is why I am writing this paper. I will
give the motives that drove this expedition. Before a proper explanation can be given, there must
be a background to give the reader a brief glimpse of who the man Columbus was. Columbus was
born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Columbus also was the child of a pair of two wool merchants.
Columbus, during his early years worked on a merchant ship. Afterwards, Columbus sought out a
higher education in the fields of cartography, navigation, and astronomy. These topics that he
learned later would fuel his ambition for exploration . After receiving permission to explore, he
began his journey for fame and gold. Initially, Columbus planned to sail from more foreign ports
such as England and Portugal, but was denied. Then, he sought patronage from Spain, who had an
interest in his plan. One motive of the spaniards was to find a quicker, more free route to India.
This was their main goal. However, the Spaniards did not want to lose

Before installing the VPN services, however, a number of things must be taken into
consideration. By evaluating who is using the VPN, the hardware necessary to make good
connections, the pros and cons of differing connection protocols, and evaluating past security
problems, setting up the VPN services becomes a much smoother process. VPN s and Firewalls
Anyone who will be accessing the VPN services should have a firewall in place.Once a VPN
connection is established, the client is essentially able to access information behind the
company s firewall, thus creating an access hole. Therefore, insisting a client use and maintain a
firewall is another layer in the security of the VPN setup. The ease of changing the firewall rules
to allow VPN connections should be addressed. Very old firewalls, either appliance types or
software types, may be difficult or impossible to configure to allow VPN access.A small business
may stay with an old firewall for many reasons, one of which might be the fact that there has been
no reason to upgrade in the past. It would be prudent to check the firewall documentation before
becoming enmeshed in the VPN process, only to have it fail for lack of access, or creating a setup
that might be considered insecure. User Considerations When setting up the VPN server(s) at the
main office, who is using the connection and how much access to the internal network,

American Culture Is Generalizable To Other Cultures
Introduction
Around the world there are multiple different cultures not just American culture so to say that
American culture is generalizable to other cultures is wrong because cultures around the world are
all different however, culture is also shared and while culture is shared, there is not only one culture
that everyone shares. Culture creates the behaviors of individuals understandable to other people in
the group. Furthermore, generalization is how well the results can be applied to the population
being measured and if the experiment is not generalizable, then the results will not refer to the
population being measure. In addition, the generalization of other cultures could either push back
psychology or move it forward and that is what Haeffel and Arnett are arguing about.

Human Condition Research Paper
Condition The Self cannot be pierced or burned, made wet or dry. It is everlasting and infinite,
standing on the motionless foundations of eternity. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought,
beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve (Gita 2:24 25). The human condition is
described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An
example was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but
within the seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the
same in terms of people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this
divinity that everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that one believes he is the
slayer, another believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were
never born; you will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal,
immutable, immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. Realizing that which is indestructible,
eternal, unborn, and unchanging, how can you slay or cause another to slay (Gita 2:19 20).

Freedom Extended Definition
Freedom Lives Within
Three people are walking down a New York City street. One is a Black man, one is an Asian
woman, and the other person is a White man. One can easily picture the three people walking
beside one another because the image is not bizarre or strange, rather; the image is completely
normal. The vision is normal because these three American citizens have the freedom to walk
where they choose, with whom they choose. The word freedom is often overlooked and taken for
granted by those who have it. A popular idea of freedom is: Freedom lets someone do whatever he
chooses to do. Although this thought of freedom is technically correct, the phrase barely scratches
the surface of the idea of freedom.

Once a culture of people that held high their beliefs and way of life was nearly an extinct culture
after the European, and colonization forced these people out of their land. It is important to see

Titanium Tetrachloride is made by a chemical reaction involving titanium dioxide, chlorine gas,

Every Little Stitch Essay
As the founder of Every Little Stitch I quickly learned leadership skills. My goal was to create a
successful business that would be a blessing to those around me. First, I sought advice on how to
manage money and how to create business forms such as invoices, package slips, and business
cards. After ample advertisement I successfully established a deal with the American Eagle
Foundation. The Crochet Keepsakes made their way into the Eagle Nest store in DollyWood. Now
that I was establishing a large cliental the businesswas becoming well distinguished. Word of mouth

Similarities Between Achaemenid And Greek Empires
The Achaemenid Empire was one of the strongest empires in Southwest Asia during the first
millennium B.C.E. Courageous and skilled Persian conquerors allowed Persian rule to spread
beyond Persian territory, creating one of the largest early empires (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). However,
across the Mediterranean Sea was dwelled a more advanced empire with a stronger military, the
Greeks (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). These prominent early empires possessed many similarities and held
the ultimate goal of building and maintaining an advanced empire and society. Yet, their
Southwestern and Afro Eurasian cultures consisted of several different beliefs and ways of life.
The 5th and 6th century B.C.E polytheistic Greek traditions tremendously differed from the religion
of the Achaemenid Empire, which believed solely in Ahu Mazda, the supreme god (Dunn Mitchell,
2014). The political structures of the Achaemenid and Greek Empires were also vastly dissimilar,
unlike the united Achammenid Empire; Greece consisted of several poleis (city states) (Dunn
Mitchell, 2014). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

aristocrats held the royal and high positions (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). Governing officials called

Mitchell, 2014). Unlike the Greek Empire, the Achamenid dynasty was unified under one emperor.
However, the emperor and his entourage moved throughout Persia, thus there was no specific
capital (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). Dunn Mitchell (2014) found that the Persian Empire was a funnel of
trade . Their early popularity and dominance among Southwestern territory resulted in their
universal mission to rule the world (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). The Persians were one of the first

Scapegoat Incident Analysis
The experience I had as a member of a group in which someone became a scapegoat involves a
situation in which I was a scapegoat. This situation occurred last year, September of 2015, not
long after starting to take classes at Teachers College. The class in which this incident occurred
was Fundamentals of Cooperation, Conflict Resolution, and Mediation in Different Institutional
Contexts. I was assigned to a group at the time by the professor of the class. I will speak in third
person regarding this incident. The scapegoat was created based on an incident that occurred
during one of the first team meetings. The group as a whole were discussing the homework
assignment from the previous week. The task was to give a personal definition of the word
conflict. As different members of the group mentioned their definitions, the soon to be scapegoat
illustrated a difference of opinion. While all the other members of the group discussed how conflict
can be negative, the scapegoat mentioned during his definition that conflict, while tough to address
at times, had the potential to be positive. Immediately, the individual who was seen as the group s
leader disagreed and so did the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scapegoat accepted being the target because this is a usual part of life that he expected. The
scapegoat acted with an acceptable mindset instead of an unacceptable one. A unacceptable sort
of mindset would have allowed the scapegoat to state that how they are treating him is not fair.
He could have mentioned that the group should not have treated him differently whether it be
because of stereotypes, difference of opinion, or for doing what they wish they would have done,
which was to study before class. It is possible that he may have gained an ally either in the
professor (the professor disagreed with the group s opinion in a class discussion and acknowledged

I Stand Here Ironing, By Tillie Olsen And Girl By Jamaica...
The mother daughter relationship is often scrutinized, publicized, and capitalized on. Whether from
tell all biographies, to humorous sit coms, or private therapy sessions, this particular relationship
dynamic gives some of the most emotion activating memories. When female authors reflect and
write about their relationships with their mothers, they have a tendency to taint their reflections with
the opinions they have as an adult, reviewing the actions of their motherwhen they were young.
These opinions set the tone of the story independently and in conjunction with the relationship itself
and manifest in creative literary styles that weave an even more intricate story. Case in point, when
reviewing the two literary works I Stand Here... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is made obvious by the subjective reflections of the now grown daughters as they write about
their relationships with a distorted and one sided view. When individuals describe and evaluate an
important relationship, this accounting of the relationship imparts meanings to the events, actions,
and emotions of their past history, their present interactions, and their anticipated future together.
(Bojczyk, Lehan and McWey) This is how they identify their formative years and how they identify
themselves as daughters to their mothers. Sufficed to say, despite the differences in perspective and
experience, it is nearly impossible for the mother daughter relationship to be clinically reviewed,
they are heavily subjected to the author s opinions and reactions to their mother.
In both stories, the future expectation of a daughter s outcome affects the mother daughter
relationship as seen from both the mother and the daughter. Like the idea of self fulfilling
prophecy, if a mother treats her daughter as a frail being, an invalid, and keeps her daughter shut
in, the effect on a healthy daughter will be to identify themselves as a fragile being who needs to
be shut in since that s all they ve been told. Similarly, when a mother is exceptionally stern and
opinionated about their daughter s sexuality, based on the mother s constant berating and calling
the girl a whore, the girl may actually begin to identify herself

Blackjack Reflection
I was amazed by the movie not only because it revealed the complicated inner conflict of Ben
Campbell, but also because the exciting counting cards method presented throughout the scenes.
The movie describes a boy, Ben Campbell, who is hard working and outstanding in his class.
However, Campbell needed money to apply for Harvard University Medical school. In the
movie, Campbell complained to his friends that he couldn t dazzle the admission officer because
he s done nothing. Ben was a student who crushed exams and showed up early day by day. He
gave up his personal time for fun, which caused his lack of life experience. Though I think life
experience doesn t have to be as crazy as counting card at Vegas, a person at least needs to feel
passion in his life. In the end, Ben dazzled the admission officer and won scholarship for Med
school. His achievement was a result of the lesson he learned from his experience. Ben learned to
value his friendship and family more than money. He was no longer blinded by the wealth and
excitement in the casino. Above all the precious life lessons the movie teaches its audiences about, I
m most attracted to the counting cards method. Therefore, I studied about the method and its
disadvantages.
The method that Ben Campbell and his MIT team used was in fact called the High Low system. In
Blackjack, the banker gives every player two cards one facing upwards while the other facing
downwards. If any person on the table is lucky enough to have a

The Iroquois Political System
Even though the Iroquois and other Native American tribes had forged alliances with rivaling
European powers they were unable to maintain any leverage economically and militarily during
the Fur trade era. The introduction of the Dutch to North America happened by chance, as they
were attempting to locate a passage to Asia. Henry Hudson, an English sea captain working for
the Dutch came across the island of Manhattan in 1609 and sailed north on a river for 150 miles,
later the Dutch established a trading post along this river called Fort Nassau, later Fort Orange,

new European threat that was arriving in their lands. The Fur trade in North America began with
the earliest contacts between the Iroquois and Europeans. Within a few years the Iroquois and the
Dutch and others were bartering their goods with each other throughout the Mohawk Valley. In
Europe there was a market for the furs and endless supply in North America to fulfill this need. In

Unfortunately, my plan did not unfold the way I imagined. Nearly 40 girls tried out, and with only

introspection, where I had attentively contemplated what I wanted to achieve in life. The
situation of my friend was no less painful, but made me realize that in order to live life to the

Rejuvenate Your Lawn Research Paper
Rejuvenate Your Lawn
Grass makes up the largest portion of most home landscapes. Keeping a lawn in great condition
can be difficult and most homeowners will find their turfgrass in decline at some point.
Inconsistent weather, improper mowing, poor fertility and simple neglect can all be contributors to
a declining lawn. Regardless of the reason, when weeds encroach, the grass thins or brown patches
appear, it is time to take action and rejuvenate your lawn.
Soil Test
To bring grass back to its former glory, the first step is a soil test. Ensuring the proper pH and
fertility levels for growing grass is perhaps the greatest step toward creating lush, healthy lawn that
will naturally resist insect and disease infestation while out competing weeds. You can either...

Grubs live below the soil surface and feed on grass roots, leaving dead patches in the lawn.
Chinch bugs, cutworms, army worms, sod webworms and others eat the blades, leaving ragged
edges, brown patches or, bare dirt in their wake. Ortho Bug B Gon Max granules are a
tremendous help. The key to its effectiveness is to apply it dry, then water it in (or let a nice
gentle rain water it in). It kills the bugs that would damage lawn grass as well as those that bother
people and pets like mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks.
Aeration
You can do a quick experiment to ensure that your soil has sufficiently open structure, or
aeration. Take a six inch screwdriver and push it into the soil in several different locations
throughout the lawn. If you can push it into the soil by hand, all the way to its full depth, the soil
aeration is sufficient to allow root growth and water penetration. If it is difficult or impossible to
insert the screwdriver, you should have your lawn core aerated. Doing it yourself is also an
option. Most tool rental companies carry walk behind aerators, and many also offer the type that
you pull behind a riding mower.

The receivables turnover has significantly decreased over the three year period and has indicated
an improvement in the crediting procedures that have been developed within the company. The
average collection period has decreased significantly to an average of 42 days, which enables the
company to use this money within the business at an earlier stage.
Poor sales and lower inventory balances in 2001 contributed to the inventory turnover dropping to
almost 3 times a year. This improved slightly in 2002 as sales picked up within the business. This
does affect the liquidity but does not have a real damaging effect to the products sold due to the
nature of the business (antiques).
The liquidity ratios do indicate that Over the Hill Pty Ltd is in a stable position and is a
reasonably liquid business. This would need to be carefully observed over time tough to guarantee
the short term obligations of the business.

The debt and Equity ratios are valuable tools used to indicate asset protection and therefore the long

slightly but have not increased much in the three year

Essay on Summary of The Book of Hosea
In this book, there is an ongoing story of adultery, fornication, and betrayal between God and
Israel portrayed through the relationship between the prophet Hosea, and his wife Gomer. There
are a few different views on the actual relationship between Hosea and Gomer, the first of which is
that Gomer was already a harlot when Hoseatook her as his wife. This one I would think is the
most widely accepted, simply because it s the literal description of the book, and people tend to
lean towards literal definitions more frequently than not, just look at how people of the world have
torn apart the book of Revelation! The second view is that Gomer was a harlot, but was only

Gomer cheated on the prophet many times just as the nation of Israel cheated on their God with
other insignificant gods. Hosea provided for his wife the best way he could, and treated her the
best way he could, and received nothing but betrayal on her part. God, the same way, did
nothing but provide for His people, His wife. He cared for them in every way He could, and they
still betrayed Him at every turn. Hosea is a book telling of the judgment that is to come against
them as a nation, and what is required of them to come back to God. At the point of writing this
book, it is already too late, and the nation can do nothing to stay the wrath of God against them.
God did everything He could for them, even as it is said in 13:11, God gave them a king in His
anger, going against what He wanted for them, just to make them happy. In the end however, we
see that God took their king away in His wrath. The nation as a whole is to be captured, and they
will no longer have a king like they had before. Their glory will be taken away because of their
sinfulness and rebellion towards God. This is one of the longer minor prophets, having 14
chapters, most of which are dealing strictly with the ungodliness of Israel as a nation, but the final
chapter seems to me that Israel did change their ways and repent to some extent. We do see that
God will forgive them, but that does not mean that the consequences for their

Investigating The Theories Of Trace Evidence
Trace evidence can be used to link people or objects to places, other people, or other objects. This

No, USAA is not a typical insurance company:
It specifically targets current and retired military officers and their dependents for a variety of
insurance, asset management, and quality of life programs. Most insurance companies do not carry
a full package of financial products.
Their strategy was about customer service rather than profit or revenue. The growth was built on
creating new products for the existing target market.
The homogeneous, well educated, and relatively affluent target segment is easy to market to since
the core message of trust can be used across the board as the customers have a common life
experience and background.

This communication process had a rocky start. Built originally on a time expense model,
partnerships between divisions were strained due to conflicts over time and resource allocations.
The company ultimately placed the head of P C as the new leader of IS. This helped create a user
orientation within IS and established good relationships with other divisions.
The user focus not only drove consolidation efforts, it redefined how customers were thought of.
USAA began to think of customers in terms of life events, or event oriented service, matching
products with the needs of consumers at specific points in their lives. Using this information,
representatives can pinpoint additional products customers need, adding potential sales
opportunities for new lines.
Question: The fact that McDermott provided visioning and leadership for the use of IT within
USAA is clear from the case. Why is this so important?
Vision and leadership for the use of IT is very important as it drives the company ahead.
McDermott provided this for USAA using a variety of tools such as the ISD Business Plan, support
groups, and the Vision 2000 initiative.
The ISD Business plan serves as a framework to discuss basic philosophies, strategies, principles,
goals, and key result areas. It helps in assessing the current system environment as well as solidifies
commitment and future

Descriptive Essay On My Grandmother
Granddaughter Peeping through the blinds, I wave goodbye to my mom in her red, Mercedes
Benz, and to my dad in his white, Toyota van, watching them go opposite directions towards
work. I stumble across the couch, leaving indents from my knees, and walk into the kitchen
where my grandmother stands with her familiar gray mug filled with steaming coffee and two
cubes of sugar. As I walk to her side at the counter, I reach into a pink, plastic fruit basket
containing ripe treasures purchased from Lion s Supermarket. Two fruits: an apple and an
orange, immediately sit upon my two hands. Shoving the round red into my grandma s eyes, I
await an answer. She squints, wrinkles deepening on her forehead, as if the apple was the
challenge question on a math test. Or...ange, she says. I shake my head, and sound out the
beginning letters of the fruit I was offering, until the word, apple, struggles out of her mouth. We
both smile at the accomplishment as she points down at the orange and correctly states its name,
confident in fashion. This calls for celebratory peeled orange and sliced sweet apple. Two weeks
and two fruits, teaching my Chinese grandma some English words marks the biggest
accomplishment of my first grade self. My first vivid memory of her, back when she wore floral
button ups from China, cooked egg fried rice for our summer lunches, and washed my hair in the
sink. I was her granddaughter. She was my mother s mДЃmДЃ.We did not have the typical

Memory And The Psychodynamic Theory
The two concepts that I resonated with are Memory and the Psychodynamic theory. Starting with
the Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces
underlying human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood
experience. This theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with
psychoanalysis, a type of psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts
and emotions so that the person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is
Memory; understanding how memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an
essential key to attaining knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Memory
involves remembering and forgetting. I chose the two concepts because throughout the class they
stood out to the most. Understanding the conscious, subconscious mindand also memory. I m
interested in understanding the human behavior.
The psychodynamic theory, I didn t really think much about it. But when I got to psychology
learning about this theory stuck out to me, it made so much sense. I ve always thought that what
happens in out childhood molds the person you are today, so when learning about the
psychodynamic theory everything that I thought came to light. The emphasis on unconscious
motives and desires, as well as the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. But
memory was the most interesting to me, finding out

How The Supply Chain Has Evolved Over The Years
The supply chain has evolved over the years. With new businesses that are on the rise in the
competitive world it is important to stay on top. Different merchants create better deals that cause
relationships between the suppliers and their customers to the end. I wanted to explore those
relationships and research the history of the supply chain . I wanted to know how things were ran
and how they are able to sustain business when the economy changes.
How supply chain management has evolved In the 1940s and 1950s, the focus of logistics research
was on how to use mechanization (e.g., pallets and pallet lifts) to improve the very labor intensive
processes of material handling and how to take better advantage of space using racking and better
warehouse design and layout. The unit load concept gained popularity and the use of pallets
became widespread. In the mid 1950s, this concept was extended to transportation management
with the development of inter modal containers together with ships, trains, and trucks to handle
these containers. By the 1960s, a clear trend had developed in shifting more time dependent freight
transportation to truck rather than rail. This led to the need for joint consideration of warehousing,
material handling, and freight transportation, which emerged under the label of Physical
Distribution. Since the 1980s, computer technology has advanced at such a phenomenal rate that it
is currently far ahead of the ability of the supply and logistics field

My First Psychic Reading Analysis
The day when I got my first psychic reading is a day that I ll always remember. So generally

Was for him to complete some sort of ritual. But in order for him to do this. I would have to

Erik Larson s The Devil
Erik Larson s The Devil in the White City is a historical novel that portrays true events that
occurred during the final years of the Gilded Age. Larson employs his vast research in order to
write a historically accurate book, while filling in the subjective details all in order to make for an
interesting read for the audience. Although the novel is based on historical facts, the actual goal
for Larson is to portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two
main characters around which the plots of this novel is built. The entire novel shifts back and forth
between Daniel Burnham, the protagonist, and H. H. Holmes, the antagonist. The book is outlined
so that alternating chapters follows distinct plot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are both dedicated to building a fair that will better the tarnished reputation the Chicago
gives off to the rest of the country. They seek the help of architects throughout the country, but
the ones in New York in particular are full of pride and do not want to be associated with
Chicago. John Root eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the
project. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his
own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a
cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good
for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to
ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so
much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares
enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at
how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and psychopaths
like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims that were murdered by him
and never found. Another example of preventable evil being ignored is that of Prendergast, who
becomes progressively insane but the few people that notice it do nothing about it and

Death of the Author
Death of the Author Analysis
Roland Barthes is a French literary philosopher born in 1915. In one of his theories Death of the
author he argues that by giving a text an author is to impose a limit on that text . He claims that
having knowledge of the author s background and purpose for the text restricts the readers
imaginative license to build their own interpretations, and that the author and text are completely
unrelated. Barthes declares, The death of the author is the birth of the reader.
Instead, he calls the author a scriptor , to draw away from the thinking that the author and his/her
single experience is in control over the text. In this way, he makes a point that no writing is original,
and is created based on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barthes statement would be invalid for autobiographical writing, where the authors are one with the
text, as they are writing about themselves.
In poetry, the author is a significant part of the poem as most poetry is a reflection of the poets
experiences through the use of metaphors and other poetic devices. To ignore this is to diffuse a
poem of its deeper meaning and connections.
We can use Full Moon and Little Frieda by Ted Hughes to argue against Barthes theory. Hughes
wrote this poem about his daughter Frieda s fascination with nature. The poem frames a specific
scene somewhere in the country:
A cool small evening shrunk to a dog bark and the clank of a bucket

And you listening.

A spider s web, tense for the dew s touch.
A pail lifted, still and brimming mirror
To tempt
a first star to a tremor.

Cows are going home in the lane there, looping the hedges with their warm wreaths of breath

A dark river of blood, many boulders,
Balancing unspilled milk.

Moon! you cry suddenly, Moon! Moon!

The moon has stepped back like an artist gazing amazed at a work That points at him amazed.
The poem is fairly vague in terms of setting, and without knowledge of the author one would not
know that Ted Hughes, his wife and two children (one named Frieda) moved to a cottage in
Devon. It was there when he wrote Full Moon and Little Frieda after his wife Sylvia Plath
committed

Essay about The Shawl
Many times in stories, authors will use the setting to set the stage for the story. The setting is like
the foundation of the story, and without one the story seems merely lost. Quite often the setting
will build up the story and affect the characters, and the characters behaviors. Against the backdrop
of a Holocaust concentration camp, Ozick produces two static characters whose lack of
development throughout the story emphasizes the theme of overwhelming hopelessness. In The
Shawl Rosa, her infant daughter Magda, and her fourteen year old companion Stella are Jews
interned in a concentration camp during World War II. Amazingly the infant Magda has survived
with her mother, hidden and protected in a shawl. If the Nazis ever learn of... Show more content on

They see how peaceful Magda is with the shawl, and it is killing both of them inside. During the
whole story, these thoughts and emotions are going through both Rosa and Stella s mind. Later
in the story, Stella steals the shawl away from Magda. Magda now starts to behave peculiar like
the two women before. She is no longer silent and mute, she now walks on her own and is crying.
However, later Rosa steals the shawl back from Stella for herself. She could fly, she was only air
into the arena. The sunheat murmured of another life, of butterflies in the summer . As you can see
this shawl was powerful to them, and with it they seemed in their own imaginary world. These
thoughts and feelings are not ones from a healthy human being. It was this time of tribulation and
hard times that made these girls so attached to such a simple item. These characters had nothing,
they were in a concentration camp, and the shawl was the only thing they could rely on, so they
made this shawl their dream. If this story would have had a different, or more peaceful setting, then
these characters may have been able to establish more character traits. However due to the
concentration camp background, these characters had absolutely nothing, but a shawl. Therefore,
the setting was a crucial part of this story. The setting also affected the characters behaviors and
thoughts. There is not a time in

An Analysis Of Zora Neal Hurston s Their Eyes Were...
Nature is used as a metaphor for many things in life and in the pages of a novel. One can use
spring as a rejuvenation of the soul, winter as a barren wasteland, summer the splendor of
someone s life, and autumn the bringer of death. Zora Neal Hurston uses these and similar aspects
of nature as a pillar in her novel Their Eyes were Watching Godto describe the progression of the
life of Janie, the main character. One of the many natural images Hurston provided the reader
with was that of the pear tree. The pear tree was a predominant image throughout the early stages
of the book because it represented the innocence of Janie. The beautiful, sun kissed tree was first
introduced in the paragraph where Hurston says From barren brown stems to glistening leaf
buds; from leaf buds to snowy virginity of bloom. (27) The words ...snowy virginity of bloom...
refer to the bloom of the flower, but also as a metaphor for Janie. At this point of the book she
hadn t experienced any serious harm of slavery or misogyny, both of which were extremely at
large during the time the novel was set. This shows her naivetГ© and ignorance towards the real
perils of the world because of the complete, almost asphyxiating embrace of nanny. She had done
such a good job at protecting Janie that by the age of 16, Janie had no real maturing. She was
extremely vulnerable to the extensive physical and emotional perils of the real world. She was
stretched on her back...that left her limp and languid. (28) This

Penetration Testing Or Pen Testing Essay
Penetration testing
Introduction: Penetration testing or Pen testing is to find the vulnerabilities that an attacker could
exploit a network, web application or a computer. It is generally an attack on a computer looking
for security weaknesses, potentially gaining access to the computer s features and data.
The main purpose of penetration testing is to determine the security weaknesses in a system. Pen
testing can also be used to test an organization s security policy agreement, its employees security
awareness and the organization s ability to identify and respond to security incidents. Pen tests are
sometimes called as white hat attacks as the good guys are attempting to break in. Pen testing can
be done by automated software applications or can be tested manually. In both ways, the process is
same. Following are the strategies included in penetration testing:
Targeted testing
Performed by company s IT team and pen testing team working together. Referred as lights turned
on approach as everyone can see the test being carried out.
External testing
This testing will target on external devices or server including E mail servers, domain name
servers, web servers or firewalls. The objective is to find out how far outside attacker can get in
when they ve gained the access.
Internal testing
This test will simulate an inside attack behind the firewall done by an authorized user who is
having standard access

Composite materials are the engineering materials made from two or more constituent materials
they remain separate and distinct on a macroscopic level but forming a single component or
Composites can defined as materials that consist of two more chemically and physically different
phases separated by a distinct interface(matrix phase and dispersed phase). The different systems

Matrix phase is the primary or base phase having a continuous character or continuous molecular

dispersed (reinforcing) phase, shares a load with it. The Dispersed phase is encapsulated in the
matrix in a discontinuous form called a secondary phase. This Secondary phase is usually stronger
than that of the matrix phase, so is also called as reinforcing phase.

Counter Reform Of The Roman Catholic Church
Counter Reform of the Roman Catholic Church
The reading this week covered a pretty expansive timeline, starting in 1534 with the founding of the
Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, through the issuance of both The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility,
established in 1870, and The Doctrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1950. Not
to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The
Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily
two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the
incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time,
especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching
of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the
Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin
Luther and the growing Protestant movement.
From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning
what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. (Panzer) It was apparent that the chattel
slavery being witnessed at this time was different from the slavery mentioned biblically and
practiced historically. Pope Paul III stated that this practice of enslaving an entire ethnic group of
people for no morally justifiable

The Economic And Trade Globalization
With the development of science and technology as well as transportation, economic and trade
globalization in gradually, most companies are not satisfied with the domestic market, and began to
open up markets in other countries, which is the origin of multinational enterprises. However, since
the environment of the market is different from the host country, such as natural conditions, socio
cultural, or customer needs, which is particularly difficult to deal with the situation when to enter
the market of a country, it will need to face the corresponding political risk. Political risk is a type
of foreign exchange risk, thence, a prerequisite of political risk and foreign exchange risk of the
occurrence of a prerequisite is the same, namely businesses or investors must hold foreign direct
investment (Foreign Direct Investment), otherwise, there would not be political risks (Jensen,
2003). Therefore, for multinational enterprises, the economic benefit was on the most important
position, and even beyond the political relations such as social system, human ideology, or
challenge the traditional, however, for the country to say that in terms of national security goals
happen with the economic interests if they have conflicting objective, the state will first meet the
security objective, it would be more stressful for multinational enterprises in political risk.

The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth Essay
The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth s poem The world is too much with us is a statement about conflict between
nature and humanity. The symbolism in his poem illustrates a sense of the conviction and deep
feelings Wordsworth had toward nature. He longs for a much simpler time when the progress of
humanity was tempered by the restriction nature imposed. Wordsworth is saying in this poem that
man is wasting his time on earth by not appreciating nature around him. He is looking but not
beholding. We have given our hearts away (4) means that we have sold the part of us that is from
the earth (man which is from dust) in order to make other things more important than appreciating
life; such as, money or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike society, Wordsworth does not see nature as a commodity. The verse Little we see in
Nature that is ours (3), shows that coexisting is the relationship envisioned. This relationship
appears to be at the mercy of mankind because of the vulnerable way nature is described. The
verse This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon (5), gives the vision of a woman exposed to the
heavens. In addition, the phrase sleeping flowers (7) might also describe how nature is being
overrun unknowingly.
Wordsworth seems to foresee the inevitable, because he sees himself as one with the
environment. The verse I, standing on this pleasant lea, have glimpses that would make me less
forlorn (11 12), shows Wordsworth as a visionary who is not responsible for the destruction of
nature. In addition, the change Wordsworth is hoping for will come in the form of a mighty
revolt by nature. This is why Wordsworth reaches back into ancient Greece for their gods who
symbolize nature and strength to make the change. Proteus was a sea god who could change his
appearance to get away from capture. Proteus is seen rising from the sea, facing the injustices
inflicted upon nature, placing the cycle of life back in balance. The ability to change ones
appearance is critical in facing the variety of threats mankind might impose. The god Triton was
also mentioned as a savior to nature as well. Triton was the most imposing of the gods

The drilling process can be harmful to nearby animal life. The process used to locate oil waves can be harmful to animal life. When the oil ascends, it brings with it a number of deadly chemicals. The chemicals released can consist of mercury and arsenic. Other substances such as lead have been known to ascend with the oil (Horton, Jennifer, 1). Over four thousand animals died, and more were injured as a result of the British Petroleum oil spill (Clean Energy, 1). Dolphins were enveloped in the oil (Clean Energy, 1). Four hundred and six dolphins lost their lives during the eighty seven day plague (Clean Energy, 1). The bird population of the Gulf decreased as well (Clean Energy, 1). Some of the birds were cloaked with oil (Clean Energy, 1). Thousands of dead and suffering birds were seen floating in the black pools of oil (Clean Energy, 1). Six thousand one hundred and twenty four birds died as a result of the Gulf oil spill (Clean Energy, 1). However birds and dolphins were not the only victims (Clean Energy, 1). The British Petroleum oil spill destroyed a portion of the sea turtle population found in the Gulf of Mexico (Clean Energy, 1). Over five hundred sea turtles, some of them babies were affected by the spill (Clean Energy, 1). A grand total of six hundred and nine sea turtles died as a result of the spill (Clean Energy, 1). These are only the documented deaths (Clean Energy, 1). Essay on Business Research for Decision Making Business Research for Decision Making The work of decision making involves choosing between issues that require attention, setting goals, designing suitable courses of action and choosing among several alternatives through the evaluation of each one of the alternatives. Of great importance in decision making is the choosing between the several alternatives. The effectiveness of this work of decision making is of great importance for the well being of every business activity and determines the success of every business (Kay Miranda). In the business setup, decisions that can be made could include product improvement, choice of an investment plan, business expansion and areas of improvement. The first assesses the degree to which repeated researches yield the same results; the second is based on the stability of measurements over time while the third is based on the similarity of measurements within a given period of time. On the other hand, Joppe (2000) suggested that a valid research is one that truly measures what it was intended to measure. In other words, a valid research is one that provides true results. Quantitative research involves the use of experimental and quantitative measures to test general hypotheses (Hoepfl, 1997). Golafshani (2003) suggested that quantitative research is based on the measurement and the analysis of the causal relationship between variables. Through quantitative research, the researcher is familiarized with the concept to be studied and generates the hypothesis to be tested. As such, the mathematical process takes the norm for analyzing the numeric data and the information gathered takes a numeric form that can be quantified and summarized. Moreover, according to Charles (1995), the final result of the quantitative research is usually expressed in statistical terminologies. Another aspect of quantitative research, as seen from Golafshani (2003), is that it emphasizes on the facts and causal. Therefore, a qualitative researcher should construct an instrument, standardize it and administer it according to predetermined procedures. • 5. How Does Faust Have An Effect On German Language Classic words can influence those who read, and even those who write. For example, the iconic play Faust. Written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1776, Faust is based off of an old Germanic legend, but Goethe himself used his real life experiences to flesh out the titular character in his book. As a result, Fausthas become a very culturally important and influential drama that has had such an impact, it has even changed the German language. Von Goethe s drama, Faust, is a drama with strong themes referring to man s dissatisfaction with the world, as the main conflict involved a man selling his soul to a demon to achieve everything he could not attain himself. To begin, Faust s characterization of the main character, is inspired by Wolfgang... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The influence of the book has even been stated as little less than the bible (Carus). The bible has shaped most of human existence, so for the books impact to be so important, it s influenced many things. The German language for example, has many phrases, such as Des Pudels kern , which translates to the core of the poodle . In the book, a poodle appears following Faust, and the poodle eventually becomes Mephistopheles, a demon. It means the real nature of something within, which alludes to that scene in Faust every time it is mentioned. It shows how truly impactful Faust to the German language and lore. While Goethe s Faust may be very popular and important, the story he wrote is not the ONLY interpretation. Several other authors have written books, symphonies, and plethoras of forms of art based on the story behind Faust. The lore, originating around the 13th century, the legend of Faust is about a man making a deal with the devil to receive otherworldly powers to satisfy his humane needs. He is so dissatisfied with his knowledge, he wants more, and this is very much like the interpretation Goethe wrote (Boyle). The story itself has spawned over 100 interpretations (Faust). In conclusion, Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is a very famous drama not only because of the brilliant writing. The author uses his own life to inspire the characters emotions, and in addition to this, the famous tale behind it helped it gain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Immanuel Kant Morality The ethics of Immanuel Kant (1724 1804) generally emphasize the necessity of morality and reason when it comes to certain actions. In his Moral Philosophy lecture, he discusses the essential human action of sexual desire and impulse. When reading Of Duties Towards the Body in Respect of Sexual Impulse, Kant describes why sexual impulses are immoral and how marriage is the only condition under which sexual impulses are permitted. Kant is right about certain sexual impulses being immoral but sex only after marriage isn t as common as it used to be in his day and age. In this essay, I plan to argue how Kant s views on moral and immoral sexual impulses are still present in today s society but have changed over time. I am convinced that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if a man desires a woman as an object of his sexual impulse and not because of who she is as a person, her humanity is no longer a concern to him. The only object of his desire is sex, so humanity is set aside. The two will direct all actions towards sex alone, thus sacrificing humanity for sex. Humanity then becomes a way to satisfy their desires, which is similar to the nature of animals. Humans are moral beings and our ability to reason distinguishes us from animals, but sexual desire poses a threat to our humanity. Kant also mentions that it is immoral if people allow themselves to be used for profit as an object of another s desire. They are disposing themselves, which makes them a thing that the other satisfies his or her appetite with. Ultimately, the person is surrendering their humanity for the other s sexual impulse, which puts their morality at risk. I think sexual desire has become more prevalent in today s society simply because sex is no longer seen as a sacred action. We live in a society where sex is fast, easy and a person does not have to work hard for it, they can get it whenever they please. Kant s views on immoral sexual impulses have reached their peak in recent generations and people believe it is okay to have one night stands, go to strip clubs or even buy escorts to satisfy their appetites. It is also known as casual sex and the individuals involved in this lifestyle are looking to fulfill their desires and appetite at the cost of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the other races deemed degenerate by the former party ensured that further residence in Europe was not an option. Additionally, Britain had become an unviable recourse. Initially, its officials had welcomed the Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany. The war, however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed to an aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. Like Britain, the United States slowed the flow of Jewish immigrants and, as Mandatory Palestine was in conflict, there was no homeland for the Jewish people. The former displayed Britain s commitment to its commercial routes and colonial subservience, as the revolt quickly collapsed and India fell under the ruling authority of the British Crown. Effects of a Misogynistic Society on Women Essay Effects of a Misogynistic Society on Women Over the course of history, interactions between individuals from different races, sects, cultures, religious backgrounds and genders have become a key contribution towards helping to define current day society. These are the fine details that allow for an individual to distinguish between him or herself and others. Race, sects, cultures and religious backgrounds have led to ground breaking ideas such as multiculturalism and integration; however, they have also been the prime motivation for social illnesses such as racism and segregation. [...] you ll learn nothing of value in those schools [...] women like us only need one skill in life, endure (Hossieni, 18). A deeper analysis of this quote reveals Nana s feelings and the typical frame of mind which is harboured by most Afghani families. The quote also gives readers a better understanding of the issue at hand, which is that even if women in Afghanistan attend school and get an education it will amount to nothing because they are not allowed to work. Instead they will be forced into marriage, and kept at home to complete typical chores and duties. Currently, Afghanistan ranks ninth in the world, for female literacy rate which at the moment stands at 14% (UNICEF). Two thirds of the nine year old girls in Afghanistan are already house wives or soon to be married (UNICEF). As a result of this shocking statistic, women are kept at home and denied education. Therefore, these women grow up not knowing basic things such as safe sex and ways to keep themselves healthy. This can be exemplified through the life of Laila, whose education was snatched away from so that she could carry out her marital duties. One Of The Best Speeches One of the Best Speeches One of the Best Speeches I Have a Dream Melissa Khang Bellevue University Abstract With the challenges that we, as the human race, have faced, we have also endured and conquered some of the easiest and most of the hardest issues that had risen in the past. With more opportunities opening up, there will also come more challenges. In Martin Luther King s speech I Have a Dream, he was able to express the way he feels toward having the dream that one day everyone shall be united as one. By using repetition in the power of words, dedication and hard work, and other variables thrown in the mix of the speech, King was able to empower the people to make a stand and fight for the opportunity of equality and freedom. • 12. Reflection Of Plato s View On Love By Socrates Finally, toward the end of the Symposium, Socrates speaks, giving an accurate account of love and the correct use of Eros. He opposes all of the other speakers and says that love is not all about our pleasure and sexual deviances, but to either impregnate the body and give life, or to impregnate the souland pass on knowledge. Socrates speaks as if Eros is a lovefor the other person, to love someone so much that you want to enter into a bond that results in child rearing or a love for mankind that you want to share all your knowledge with them to better their soul. He continues that to be pregnant in the soul is better than to be pregnant in the body because when we are pregnant in the soul, there is more to be given to others then caring for a newborn. In this response from Socrates, it is hard to determine if he has it completely correct. I would imagine that without people being pregnant in the body, we would eventually run out of people to pass our knowledge on to. This, then, would have to be a both/and situation where each has a calling to one or the other or both, and both forms of love would then be equal. Socrates is then saying that love itself in not a god, but a messenger that is caught in between the divine realm of immortality and the earthly realm of the mortal. Love then can reach the heights of the gods bringing messages from man and returning to man with messages from god. Socrates is now showing that there is some divine link between man and the divine, and this is love. This also shines light on the fact that because each human had this link to the divine the human must in some way be part divine and part animal. Because each human can love, can reason, and has these animal instincts and desires, man must also be caught in between the divine and earthly worlds. Because we cannot physically move into that divine realm, then we must have an entity that is part of us and can move freely in between, this would be the soul. Socrates refutes all the other speeches about taking young boys as lovers for one s own gratification and love being a god that permits all thing in the name of pleasure. In conclusion, it is safe to say that, in our current era, Eros is absolutely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone knows the concept, but no one knows the motives behind the expedition. No one ever asks themselves deeply on why Christopher Columbus was able to make the voyage in the first place. The answer is always by the book, which is He recieved funding by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Not a single person asks themselves on why he was chosen specifically to go on this voyage. That is why I am writing this paper. I will give the motives that drove this expedition. Before a proper explanation can be given, there must be a background to give the reader a brief glimpse of who the man Columbus was. Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Columbus also was the child of a pair of two wool merchants. Columbus, during his early years worked on a merchant ship. Afterwards, Columbus sought out a higher education in the fields of cartography, navigation, and astronomy. These topics that he learned later would fuel his ambition for exploration . After receiving permission to explore, he began his journey for fame and gold. Initially, Columbus planned to sail from more foreign ports such as England and Portugal, but was denied. Then, he sought patronage from Spain, who had an interest in his plan. One motive of the spaniards was to find a quicker, more free route to India. This was their main goal. By evaluating who is using the VPN, the hardware necessary to make good connections, the pros and cons of differing connection protocols, and evaluating past security problems, setting up the VPN services becomes a much smoother process. VPN s and Firewalls Anyone who will be accessing the VPN services should have a firewall in place.Once a VPN connection is established, the client is essentially able to access information behind the company s firewall, thus creating an access hole. Therefore, insisting a client use and maintain a firewall is another layer in the security of the VPN setup. The ease of changing the firewall rules to allow VPN connections should be addressed. Very old firewalls, either appliance types or software types, may be difficult or impossible to configure to allow VPN access.A small business may stay with an old firewall for many reasons, one of which might be the fact that there has been no reason to upgrade in the past. It would be prudent to check the firewall documentation before becoming enmeshed in the VPN process, only to have it fail for lack of access, or creating a setup that might be considered insecure. American Culture Is Generalizable To Other Cultures Introduction Around the world there are multiple different cultures not just American culture so to say that American culture is generalizable to other cultures is wrong because cultures around the world are all different however, culture is also shared and while culture is shared, there is not only one culture that everyone shares. Culture creates the behaviors of individuals understandable to other people in the group. Furthermore, generalization is how well the results can be applied to the population being measured and if the experiment is not generalizable, then the results will not refer to the population being measure. In addition, the generalization of other cultures could either push back psychology or move it forward and that is what Haeffel and Arnett are arguing about. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought, beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve (Gita 2:24 25). The human condition is described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An example was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but within the seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the same in terms of people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this divinity that everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that one believes he is the slayer, another believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were never born; you will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal, immutable, immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. Realizing that which is indestructible, eternal, unborn, and unchanging, how can you slay or cause another to slay (Gita 2:19 20). However, across the Mediterranean Sea was dwelled a more advanced empire with a stronger military, the Greeks (Dunn Mitchell, 2014). Whether from tell all biographies, to humorous sit coms, or private therapy sessions, this particular relationship dynamic gives some of the most emotion activating memories. When female authors reflect and write about their relationships with their mothers, they have a tendency to taint their reflections with the opinions they have as an adult, reviewing the actions of their motherwhen they were young. Case in point, when reviewing the two literary works I Stand Here... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is made obvious by the subjective reflections of the now grown daughters as they write about their relationships with a distorted and one sided view. When individuals describe and evaluate an important relationship, this accounting of the relationship imparts meanings to the events, actions, and emotions of their past history, their present interactions, and their anticipated future together. (Bojczyk, Lehan and McWey) This is how they identify their formative years and how they identify themselves as daughters to their mothers. Sufficed to say, despite the differences in perspective and experience, it is nearly impossible for the mother daughter relationship to be clinically reviewed, they are heavily subjected to the author s opinions and reactions to their mother. In both stories, the future expectation of a daughter s outcome affects the mother daughter relationship as seen from both the mother and the daughter. Like the idea of self fulfilling prophecy, if a mother treats her daughter as a frail being, an invalid, and keeps her daughter shut in, the effect on a healthy daughter will be to identify themselves as a fragile being who needs to be shut in since that s all they ve been told. The movie describes a boy, Ben Campbell, who is hard working and outstanding in his class. However, Campbell needed money to apply for Harvard University Medical school. In the movie, Campbell complained to his friends that he couldn t dazzle the admission officer because he s done nothing. Ben was a student who crushed exams and showed up early day by day. He gave up his personal time for fun, which caused his lack of life experience. Though I think life experience doesn t have to be as crazy as counting card at Vegas, a person at least needs to feel passion in his life. In the end, Ben dazzled the admission officer and won scholarship for Med school. His achievement was a result of the lesson he learned from his experience. Ben learned to value his friendship and family more than money. He was no longer blinded by the wealth and excitement in the casino. Above all the precious life lessons the movie teaches its audiences about, I m most attracted to the counting cards method. Therefore, I studied about the method and its disadvantages. The second view is that Gomer was a harlot, but was only adulterous after getting married. Those who believe this say that she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gomer cheated on the prophet many times just as the nation of Israel cheated on their God with other insignificant gods. Hosea provided for his wife the best way he could, and treated her the best way he could, and received nothing but betrayal on her part. God, the same way, did nothing but provide for His people, His wife. He cared for them in every way He could, and they still betrayed Him at every turn. Hosea is a book telling of the judgment that is to come against them as a nation, and what is required of them to come back to God. At the point of writing this book, it is already too late, and the nation can do nothing to stay the wrath of God against them. God did everything He could for them, even as it is said in 13:11, God gave them a king in His anger, going against what He wanted for them, just to make them happy. In the end however, we see that God took their king away in His wrath. The nation as a whole is to be captured, and they will no longer have a king like they had before. Their glory will be taken away because of their sinfulness and rebellion towards God. This is one of the longer minor prophets, having 14 chapters, most of which are dealing strictly with the ungodliness of Israel as a nation, but the final chapter seems to me that Israel did change their ways and repent to some extent. Starting with the Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces underlying human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood experience. This theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with psychoanalysis, a type of psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts and emotions so that the person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is Memory; understanding how memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an essential key to attaining knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Different merchants create better deals that cause relationships between the suppliers and their customers to the end. I wanted to explore those relationships and research the history of the supply chain . I wanted to know how things were ran and how they are able to sustain business when the economy changes. How supply chain management has evolved In the 1940s and 1950s, the focus of logistics research was on how to use mechanization (e.g., pallets and pallet lifts) to improve the very labor intensive processes of material handling and how to take better advantage of space using racking and better warehouse design and layout. The unit load concept gained popularity and the use of pallets became widespread. In the mid 1950s, this concept was extended to transportation management with the development of inter modal containers together with ships, trains, and trucks to handle these containers. By the 1960s, a clear trend had developed in shifting more time dependent freight transportation to truck rather than rail. This led to the need for joint consideration of warehousing, material handling, and freight transportation, which emerged under the label of Physical Distribution. John Root eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. Barthes declares, The death of the author is the birth of the reader. Barthes statement would be invalid for autobiographical writing, where the authors are one with the text, as they are writing about themselves. In poetry, the author is a significant part of the poem as most poetry is a reflection of the poets experiences through the use of metaphors and other poetic devices. To ignore this is to diffuse a poem of its deeper meaning and connections. We can use Full Moon and Little Frieda by Ted Hughes to argue against Barthes theory. Hughes wrote this poem about his daughter Frieda s fascination with nature. The poem frames a specific scene somewhere in the country: A cool small evening shrunk to a dog bark and the clank of a bucket
 And you listening.

One can use spring as a rejuvenation of the soul, winter as a barren wasteland, summer the splendor of someone s life, and autumn the bringer of death. Zora Neal Hurston uses these and similar aspects of nature as a pillar in her novel Their Eyes were Watching Godto describe the progression of the life of Janie, the main character. One of the many natural images Hurston provided the reader with was that of the pear tree. The pear tree was a predominant image throughout the early stages of the book because it represented the innocence of Janie. The beautiful, sun kissed tree was first introduced in the paragraph where Hurston says From barren brown stems to glistening leaf buds; from leaf buds to snowy virginity of bloom. It is generally an attack on a computer looking for security weaknesses, potentially gaining access to the computer s features and data. The main purpose of penetration testing is to determine the security weaknesses in a system. Pen testing can also be used to test an organization s security policy agreement, its employees security awareness and the organization s ability to identify and respond to security incidents. Not to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time, especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin Luther and the growing Protestant movement. From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth Essay The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth William Wordsworth s poem The world is too much with us is a statement about conflict between nature and humanity. The symbolism in his poem illustrates a sense of the conviction and deep feelings Wordsworth had toward nature. He longs for a much simpler time when the progress of humanity was tempered by the restriction nature imposed. Wordsworth is saying in this poem that man is wasting his time on earth by not appreciating nature around him. He is looking but not beholding. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike society, Wordsworth does not see nature as a commodity. The verse Little we see in Nature that is ours (3), shows that coexisting is the relationship envisioned. This relationship appears to be at the mercy of mankind because of the vulnerable way nature is described. The verse This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon (5), gives the vision of a woman exposed to the heavens. In addition, the phrase sleeping flowers (7) might also describe how nature is being overrun unknowingly. Wordsworth seems to foresee the inevitable, because he sees himself as one with the environment. The verse I, standing on this pleasant lea, have glimpses that would make me less forlorn (11 12), shows Wordsworth as a visionary who is not responsible for the destruction of nature. In addition, the change Wordsworth is hoping for will come in the form of a mighty revolt by nature. This is why Wordsworth reaches back into ancient Greece for their gods who symbolize nature and strength to make the change. Proteus was a sea god who could change his appearance to get away from capture. Proteus is seen rising from the sea, facing the injustices inflicted upon nature, placing the cycle of life back in balance.
