The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Social Media Impact on Youth
To answer both these queries we have to consider their pros and cons of social media on youth and also on
education. Continuing with former first, social media has lessened the world into a global village. Youths can
intermingle with different people from different areas of the world by a click of button. It’s a trend nowadays to
be on social networking websites (Redecker et al., 2010). Engaging on social media websites can be a novel
venture for young folks. It is similar to discovering a fresh place where diverse expertise is required. Young
folks acquire to mold their appeal to be further self-assured and free to be perceived or have a optimistic virtual
existence. This ultimately transfers to their everyday lives.
Help Improve Social Expertise: Through these communications, youths can obtain information, share
ideas and there is also a great chance to be wide-open to many other opportunities. Moreover, social
media gives them opportunity to make new friends as well as let them to keep up their old ones. With
the help of social media, one can trace their old friends or colleagues by just a simply type names or just
indicating the school, collage, university or company they attended or worked together (Boyd, 2007).
After that, let the network do all work and link them. Social media can be the way for people to express
their thoughts ideas especially naturally shy people can say whatever they want to in public without
revealing their identities (Miller, 2008).
Help to Broaden Vision: Besides socializing, corporate world has also utilized social networks for
advertise products by celebrities or do it directly. As a result, social media offers vast variety of chances
for youths (Shea, 2006).
Help to Earn Assets: Famous youths are also doing the advertisement for the products of companies
and become online ambassadors.
Furthermore, they also can earn substantial amount of money by running vlogs, tech sites, informative
forums, educational sites and many more and they can also show their talents to the world.
On the contrary, social media is an unregulated realm with no customs of ethics to abide to.
Harsh Content: Youths are probably exposed to disturbed images of accidents, rape cases, murder
victims or videos of gun shootings, verbal outbreak, violence, explicit sexual content and nudism. That
kind of content when it used up for long duration of time can lead to severe outcomes. For example,
anxiety attacks fear of actual world around them (Christofides et al., 2012) .
Obesity: It also can lead to obsession, spending more time with friends on social media rather than with
their families and relatives around them. Before going to bed last thing is to check accounts for any
updates or waking up from bed youths first thing to do is to check their social media accounts.
Cyber bullying: Another crime that comes in thoughts is cyber bullying. But many people think that it
is a kind of fun stuff not that serious to fake the identity on social media. Moreover, it is easier to trace
someone through their information available on social media platforms and make it easy for criminal to
trace and get important information.

similar kind of platforms for online lectures (Tariq et al., 2012). This is easy for pupils along with
instructor to study and share just sitting in their institutions or homes. How relaxed and opportune
learning can be through the support of social media.

wicked notion to waste judicious and important time on social media without achieving something from

information that is irrelevant to education purpose and wasting timing on chatting.
Waste Time: Several students consider it problematic to tackle their usual life without making habit of
social media. Pupil does not pay attention in class, busy chatting and reading stories (Holmes, 2011) .
They waste time talking or chatting with friends, instead of working what they have gained in
educational places.
Mess up writing skills: nowadays students are not good in writing skills. They are unable to write
essays. The main reason behind lacking this skill because no interest in reading novels and other books
that may be helpful for writing. Furthermore, the way we use to chat and the nature of these kinds of
messages students have trained themselves to write shorthand, incomplete sentences, fewer lines. That
effects their punctuation, grammar, writing and communication skills.
Causes Health Problems: The usage of PCs, mobiles and numerous devices to access virtual platforms

investors need to guarantee they organize the usage of social media by introducing a procedure that can
support to normalize the adverse characteristic of social media.
Lack of Interest: Numerous students use mobile phones during classes libraries and also in seminars.
Some even plug in earphones or put headphones and listen songs while studying. This kind of habits can
lessen their rates of adaptation.
