The document discusses the impact of COVID-19 on India's education system. It led to the closure of schools and shift to online learning, which created difficulties for both teachers and students due to lack of resources and infrastructure. It impacted assessments, admissions, and the job prospects of recent graduates. While online learning helps improve digital skills, it is not as effective as traditional learning and has created greater disparities. Overall, the pandemic highlighted the need for greater investment in education to support online learning and better prepare for future crises.

Understanding the Impact and Challenges of Corona Crisis on Education Sector...vivatechijri
n the second week of March 2020, governments of all states in a country suddenly declared
shutting down of all colleges and schools for a temporary period of time as an immediate measure to stop the
spread of pandemic that is of novel corona virus. As the days pass by almost close to a month with no certainty
when they will again reopen. Due to pandemic like this an alarm bells have started sounding in the field of
education where a huge impact can be seen on teaching and learning process as well as on the entire education
sector in turn. The pandemic disruption like this is actually gave time to educators of today to really think about
the sector. Through the present research article, the author is highlighting on the possible impact of
coronavirus on education sector with the future challenges for education sector with possible suggestions.
Undergraduate Student’s Perspectives on E-learning during COVID-19 Outbreak i...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
As education moves e-learning all over the world due to COIVD-19 pandemic, students spend more time on e-learning than ever before. This is also equally applied to the Sri Lankan education system. Thus this study examines the undergraduate students’ perspectives on e-learning during the COVID-19 outbreak in universities in Sri Lanka. Primary data was obtained from undergraduate students in Sri Lankan university using a structured questionnaire via Google form. The perspectives on e-learning education during the COVID-19 pandemic was investigated using descriptive statistics and frequency analysis. The majority of the undergraduate students felt that the e-learning version of education saved travel time and cost of accommodation. Furthermore, the study revealed that the majority of students were happy with the e-learning form of education during the pandemic since it allowed them to finish their degrees faster and access the labor market without a delay. The biggest challenges with e-learning, according to the student responses, were internet access, device availability, visionary issues, technical issues, and stress. As a result of this COVID -19 pandemic, if higher education officials in Sri Lankan universities want to keep e-learning education on going, they must focus on offering cost-effective, high-speed data connections while minimizing technological hurdles. At the same time, it is important to update and revise the curriculum content according to this new mode of education since this is a completely new situation for all. There is relatively little research on students’ perspectives on e-learning education during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Sri Lankan context and it will provide some important highlights to the researchers, parent and academics as well.

The current pandemic situation has affected half the world’s students with partial or full closure of their schools. Some schools have started online classes for the students but due to many technological barriers, many students are unable to join these classes. According to the news reports, there were more than 55 percent schools that had seen a reduction in the number of new admission in the new academic year. Many parents have lost their jobs during the pandemic and were forced to stop the education of many students. As per a new report by UNICEF, child labor has increased to 160 million in 2021 which is the first-ever increase in the last two decades for this number. In another report by UNICEF, the impact of COVID-19 has led to an increase in child marriages in some parts of India that account for half of the child marriages all over the world. The lockdown and the financial crisis all over the country have only increased the cases of child marriages and child labor in many parts of the world especially third world countries.
EVALUTING ONLINE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : This research evaluates online learning applied during the COVID-19 pandemic at junior high
schools in Gorontalo District. It takes perspectives from available resources, implementation processes,
achievements, and the influences on student character, knowledge, and skill changes. This evaluative research
was using the CIPPO (Context, Input, Process, Product, and Outcome) model. Research data were collected
through interview, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method
made up of five steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, triangulation, and conclusion
verification. Online learning at junior high schools in Gorontalo District had adhered to the Circular Letter of
the Ministry of Education and culture of the Republic of Indonesia and Gorontalo Regent Regulation. Based on
the input aspects, embracing human resources, facilities and infrastructures, and funding, all schools had
adequate resources for online learning implementation. And yet, some factors came in the way of online
learning. For example, as regards human resources, teachers did not understand how to use technology in online
learning, and several teachers did not have smartphones or laptops. Attributed to students, students could not
understand materials, and some could not afford required gadgets due to family economy condition.
Additionally, some parents could not help students understand materials and assist them during learning
processes. These problems led to declined online learning program products (student learning achievements).
Student achievements were worse than that in previous years. However, student learning competencies
developed significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Assessment is an important component of learning which aims to determine student achievement in learning. However, the pandemic has changed how assessment is carried out, prompting teachers to look for new strategies in carrying out mathematics learning assessments under any conditions, whether in normal conditions or during a pandemic. This study described the strategies used by high school mathematics teachers in assessing mathematics learning during the pandemic towards the post-pandemic period. This type of research is descriptive exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were three mathematics teachers, three principals, and three vice principals from a public senior high school in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. Qualitative data were collected by means of questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively according to Bogdan and Biklen. The results of the study reveal that the mathematics teacher’s strategy for carrying out assessments during a pandemic includes: i) determining the appropriate online assessment platform that suits the needs; ii) assessment based on student participation; iii) using various of online assessment methods; iv) prioritizing academic integrity and honesty in the assessment implementation; and v) carry out the management and reporting of data on the results of the assessment in accordance with established procedures.
Presentation: National Seminar on Social Media Networks and Society organised by Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai and Indian Council of Social Science Research (IMPRESS), New Delhi on 3rd February 2021
The Coronavirus pandemic has affected almost all the countries across the globe, and India is no foreign to it. Over a month ago, India reported its 1st Coronavirus case in Southern India and all the educational institutions- schools, colleges, universities and even local tuition centres have been shut down indefinitely to contain the spread of the disease. At the beginning of Feb 2020, schools only in China and a few other affected countries, but by mid-March, all the governments all around the world implemented or announced school closures, and the orders included both nation-wide shut downs as well as local for any case of limited or regional transmission.
The unprecedented impact of Covid-19 on education systems around the world has affected more than 1.6 billion students representing 91% of all students in the world. World over Education is experiencing Non-Linear Changes.
COVID -19 has given a death blow to Higher Education by attacking the essential element of social connection on which the university and higher education system thrives forcing the world over all the universities within 7 to 10 days to go for online education. At the moment, universities are focused on ensuring academic continuity for students through “emergency remote teaching.”
The big question that arises is that will this Online Teaching be able to produce lasting change?
This research aimed to develop online learning guidebook for junior high
school level. The method used in this research was research and development
in terms of 4-D model development which consists of four main stages:
Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The informants were study
consisted of 2 expert informants and 17 junior high school teachers in
Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This type of research data was
descriptive qualitative. The data collected were in the form of suggestions
and responses put forward by the informants. This information was collected
and summarized to improve the learning products developed. The results
showed that the developed online learning guidebook has met the appropriate
criteria in the media and language aspects by the respective experts. Besides,
Teachers find that this guidebook is very interesting and useful as a guide in
online learning, especially during the current pandemic. Furthermore, the
developed guide book fosters curiosity of teachers to find out the use of
applications in the book, and makes teachers think creatively in making
learning media. The online learning guidebook is advantaged for the teachers
to provide interesting learning media and material for students especially in
this pandemic era.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted changing the model of learning
activities. Teaching and learning activities that have usually been done faceto-face
have now turned into online learning. This study identified student
perspectives on online learning activities for Department of Civics
Education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Halu
Oleo University, Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used
a survey method by distributing questionnaires in the form of Google Forms
to students, and a total of 227 students participated in this study. Our study
focused on online learning media, learning effectiveness, lecturers' abilities,
obstacles, and student recommendations regarding online learning during the
COVID-19 pandemic. Data analysis in this study was carried out
descriptively, presented in the form of frequency, percentage, and graph. The
study results found that the most effective online learning media felt by
students at the Department of Civics Education were Google Meet and
Zoom Cloud Meetings. Besides, the majority of students considered online
learning to be no more effective than face-to-face lectures. Lecturers need to
provide two-way learning materials through discussion as well as question
and answer. Furthermore, the main determining factors that cause online
learning to be ineffective are network constraints and internet quotas.
Therefore, students expected the lecturers to understand the network
constraints experienced by students during online learning and recommend
implementing learning activities for blended learning (combination of online
and offline) while still complying with the health protocols.
During the pandemic, platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom provided tailored services to assist institutions in continuing their efforts. While traditional schooling has progressed throughout time, online learning is still in its infancy. Regardless, it has proven to be beneficial. Moreover, the key characteristics of innovative education can benefit everyone, including teachers, pupils, and the school.

Abstract: The COVID-19 disease which first appeared in Wuhan, in the Hubei province of China, in December
2019 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020.Within a very short span
of time it lead to an unexperienced worldwide public health crisis. In order to prevent the worldwide spread of the
novel coronavirus disease universities, schools, and many other educational institutions have been either partially
or completely closed in many countries, by national governments. Problem of disengagement, shortage of
attendance and deterioration in academic achievement was experienced by many children and youth during the
pandemic. With the closure of schools and the postponement of face-to-face lessons in many countries due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, the education activities at all levels primary, secondary, high school and higher education
level as well were soon affected. In order to compensate the interrupted educational activities, due to the onset of
the COVID-19 pandemic, it became important for educational institutions to develop and implement effective
strategies in order to remodel the changes that occurred due to pandemic. Shifting towards fully-online learning
was a speedy yet necessary reflex to the coronavirus crisis. Therefore in order to provide effective learningteaching environment increased importance was given to the use of information technologies in education from the
beginning. Countries took quick steps towards digital transformation in education, and focus was given to the use
of distance learning, teaching, and assessment approaches, which was not very common prior to the pandemic.
The present situation is considered as the biggest education crisis in human history.
Keywords: Novel coronavirus, Pandemic, online learning, digital transformation, information technologies.
A transition in learning model implementation occurred in higher education
during the COVID-19 pandemic. Online learning answers the needs of longdistance
learning. However, not all higher education institutions are
thoroughly prepared for online learning. Therefore, this study aimed to
understand the online learning experience at higher education institutions
from the perspectives of multigenerational teaching staff. This study utilized
mixed-method research through a quantitative and qualitative study. A total
of 93 participants; male (n=40) and female (n=57) teaching staff filled out a
research questionnaire consisting of closed and open questions about online
learning. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative
thematic analysis. The results indicated positive and negative contributions
of the online learning process that affect the effectiveness of online learning
according to multigenerational teaching staff perspectives. These findings
contribute to the global discussion about the online learning process in
higher education and recommend the usage of online learning for teaching
staff across generations, complemented with an effective instructional design
that would help provide a rigorous learning environment.
The study explored primary teachers and students’ anxiety toward online
instruction during COVID-19 pandemic, the factors affecting anxiety related
to online instruction of students and teachers in primary school. This
research study was designed to collect data from primary teachers and
students on the factors that affect anxiety in online teaching. The informants
were 127 students and 11 teachers based on the purpose of the research.
Questionnaire concerning general student data, such as gender, grade level,
online study equipment, and online learning channels. Factors influencing
anxiety in online education in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with
23 items for students and 25 items for teachers. Data is collected by online
inquiries with students and teachers According to the findings, the general
degree of factors influencing anxiety from online instruction in primary
school is at moderate level. Physical and mental elements, evaluation and
course content are the categories of factors that have the most impact on
students’ anxiety toward online learning. Meanwhile, the factors that have
the greatest impact on students’ anxiety toward online learning are
concerning about their grades and courses are extremely recorded. Students
believe that online learning is more challenging than traditional classroom.
At the same time, teachers are worried about online assessment, concerns
about students who are unable to attend online sessions. Teachers who only
use computers to teach online have less anxiety than teachers who use
computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
3. INTRODUCTION
Indian government has announced the lockdown and closure of
educational institutions as a logical solution to enforce social
distancing within communities. The nationwide lockdown has had a
tremendous impact on the education system of the country,
especially for students from rural areas. Since the Indian education
system is dominated by classroom study, the present scenario has
made the functioning of the educational institutions go very difficult.
All educational activities like examinations, school admissions,
entrance tests of various universities and competitive examinations,
others, are being held during this period. As the days are passing by
with no immediate solution to stop this outbreak, the closure of
schools and universities is hugely affecting the learning across the
country. The structure of the Indian education system i.e. learning
methodology, teaching techniques & assessment methodologies, is
quite affected, resulting in a shift to online education.
4. IMPACT ON TEACHERS AND
STUDENTS
Both teachers and students are facing
many hurdles during online education. At
home, a lack of basic facilities, external
distraction and family interruption during
teaching were major issues noticed.
Educational institution support barriers such
as the budget for purchasing advanced
technologies, a lack of training, a lack of
technical support and a lack of clarity and
direction were also noticed. Teachers also
faced technical difficulties.
5. IMPACT OF COVID – 19 HIGHER EDUCATION
1. An economic recession could impact HEIs
in various ways like decrease in
employment opportunities for university
graduates who are likely to enter the job
market in the next few months, possible
delays or inability of students in paying
tuition fees and education-related other
expense and government’s inability to
meet commitments to public-funded
institutions as per the requirements.
6. IMPACT ON DEGITAL IMFRASTUCTURE
Giving the increasing concern over the
spread of corona virus, most schools have
closed classes. Teaching moves online at a
level which is without precedent and
untested. With a lot of testing and error and
confusion for all, this alternative mode is only
temporary and will certainly not replace the
face to face interactions between teachers
and students and among other students.
7.
8. IMPACT ON ASSESSMENTS
In India due to the outbreak of pandemic
the external assessments including board
exams such as Secondary Education
Examinations have been postponed and
all the internal assessments have been
cancelled. This has made a negative
impact on students learning. Various
educational regulatory bodies have
decided to give a tough try by not
extending the current academic year.
9. IMPACT ON ADMISSION
It is expected that the coming academic
year will show the impact of COVID19
outbreak on the admission. June marks the
starting of the new academic session but
most of the entry reviews is not yet
performed. So, in July or later, the new
academic session is almost due to start.
10. IMPACT ON PARENTS AND
TEACHERS
The pandemic has affected not only to students but
parents and teachers also. Most of the schools in India
are teaching online to their students. Many schools are
not really comfortable with such online courses, and
both students and teachers have been confronted with
a problem. Both the parents and teachers worry about
their jobs. This is presumed to increase the rate of
unemployment. Recent graduates in India fear that the
current situation will mean the withdrawal of job offers
from companies. Estimates of unemployment at the
Centre of Monitoring India’s economy rose from 8.4% in
mid-March to 23% in early April, with the urban
unemployment rate risen to 30.9%. Education will
gradually decline when unemployment rises.
11.
12. Problems and challenges in the periods of
COVID-19 in Education sector
1. Traditional learning environment v/s virtual learning
environment.
2. Substantial investment in infrastructure and facilities to
develop a proper learning platform.
3. Periodical training and workshops for the educators and the
technical staff to enhance their skill set and expertise.
4. Educator’s readiness in embarking on computer technology-
oriented pedagogy.
5. Limited time for the educators to finish the prescribed course.
6. Reduced global employment opportunities.
7. Payments of Schools, Colleges fee are delayed.
8. Impact on placements and Internships. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This research article is based on secondary and primary
sources. Reports

14. Positive impact on education system:
•Develop the use of soft copy of learning material
•Improvement in collaborative work
•Enhanced digital literacy
•Improved the use of electronic media for sharing
information
•Worldwide exposure
•Better time management
•Demand for Open and Distance Learning
15.
16. Negative impact on education
system:
Educational activity hampered
Unpreparedness of teachers and
students
Parents’ role
Digital gadgets
Create Difference
Loss of job – teachers and lecturer
Economic loss of institutions and nation
Unemployment
17.
18. Opinion of students on online education
during the COVID-19 pandemic
The students felt that they learn better
in physical classrooms (65.9%) and by
attending MOOCs (39.9%) than
through online education. The students,
however, felt that theTeachers have
improved their online teaching skills
since the beginning of the pandemic
(68.1%) and online education is useful
right now (77.9%)
19.
20.
21. CONCLUSION
Although the world may be shaken, the best way to maintain
consistency of education an improve information is through online
learning, which appears to be a powerful tool and a sign of hope in the
time of COVID-19. With the option of taking an online class at home or
working from home according to your own convenience, now is
definitely a time for introspection. The government will have to take
tough, though calculative decision about investment in education in the
coming time. After all, the children of today are tomorrow’s
epidemiologists, physicians, nurses, researchers and specialists in the
field of public health. In addition to the academic’s concern, the rights
and livelihood of the personnel and the educators should be protected.
Now we have to get back to the drawing board and be more careful
about the investments in education so that the world can be prepared
better to face such demanding situations in the future.
