This research aimed to develop online learning guidebook for junior high
school level. The method used in this research was research and development
in terms of 4-D model development which consists of four main stages:
Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The informants were study
consisted of 2 expert informants and 17 junior high school teachers in
Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This type of research data was
descriptive qualitative. The data collected were in the form of suggestions
and responses put forward by the informants. This information was collected
and summarized to improve the learning products developed. The results
showed that the developed online learning guidebook has met the appropriate
criteria in the media and language aspects by the respective experts. Besides,
Teachers find that this guidebook is very interesting and useful as a guide in
online learning, especially during the current pandemic. Furthermore, the
developed guide book fosters curiosity of teachers to find out the use of
applications in the book, and makes teachers think creatively in making
learning media. The online learning guidebook is advantaged for the teachers
to provide interesting learning media and material for students especially in
this pandemic era.

learning problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data was collected
with the help of questionnaires. This quantitative descriptive study was
conducted among lectures and students who selectedd randomly. Data
analysis used a Likert scale and the results of perceptions used descriptive
analysis. The results of the study show that the perceptions of lecturers and
students on online learning problems during the pandemic consisted of six

However, the pandemic has changed how assessment is carried out, prompting teachers to look for new strategies in carrying out mathematics learning assessments under any conditions, whether in normal conditions or during a pandemic. This study described the strategies used by high school mathematics teachers in assessing mathematics learning during the pandemic towards the post-pandemic period. This type of research is descriptive exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were three mathematics teachers, three principals, and three vice principals from a public senior high school in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. Qualitative data were collected by means of questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively according to Bogdan and Biklen. The results of the study reveal that the mathematics teacher’s strategy for carrying out assessments during a pandemic includes: i) determining the appropriate online assessment platform that suits the needs; ii) assessment based on student participation; iii) using various of online assessment methods; iv) prioritizing academic integrity and honesty in the assessment implementation; and v) carry out the management and reporting of data on the results of the assessment in accordance with established procedures.
A transition in learning model implementation occurred in higher education
during the COVID-19 pandemic. Online learning answers the needs of longdistance
learning. However, not all higher education institutions are
thoroughly prepared for online learning. Therefore, this study aimed to
understand the online learning experience at higher education institutions
from the perspectives of multigenerational teaching staff. This study utilized
mixed-method research through a quantitative and qualitative study. A total
of 93 participants; male (n=40) and female (n=57) teaching staff filled out a
research questionnaire consisting of closed and open questions about online
learning. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative
thematic analysis. The results indicated positive and negative contributions
of the online learning process that affect the effectiveness of online learning
according to multigenerational teaching staff perspectives. These findings
contribute to the global discussion about the online learning process in
higher education and recommend the usage of online learning for teaching
staff across generations, complemented with an effective instructional design
that would help provide a rigorous learning environment.

to students, and a total of 227 students participated in this study. Our study
focused on online learning media, learning effectiveness, lecturers' abilities,
obstacles, and student recommendations regarding online learning during the
COVID-19 pandemic. Data analysis in this study was carried out
descriptively, presented in the form of frequency, percentage, and graph. The
study results found that the most effective online learning media felt by
students at the Department of Civics Education were Google Meet and
Zoom Cloud Meetings. Besides, the majority of students considered online
learning to be no more effective than face-to-face lectures. Lecturers need to
provide two-way learning materials through discussion as well as question
and answer. Furthermore, the main determining factors that cause online
learning to be ineffective are network constraints and internet quotas.
Therefore, students expected the lecturers to understand the network
constraints experienced by students during online learning and recommend
implementing learning activities for blended learning (combination of online
and offline) while still complying with the health protocols.

perceptions, distance learning has increased the economic, psychological,

and support in children's learning process at home is generally due to the
lack of time and parents' inability to become teachers for their children.
Actions to accompany and support children's learning process at home are
carried out to provide internet packages, help children master the material,
and participate in completing assignments or tests given by the teacher. The
surprising finding from this study is the decline in children's learning
motivation and cognitive abilities. Parents hope that distance learning is not
extended.
The study explored primary teachers and students’ anxiety toward online
instruction during COVID-19 pandemic, the factors affecting anxiety related
to online instruction of students and teachers in primary school. This
research study was designed to collect data from primary teachers and
students on the factors that affect anxiety in online teaching. The informants
were 127 students and 11 teachers based on the purpose of the research.
Questionnaire concerning general student data, such as gender, grade level,
online study equipment, and online learning channels. Factors influencing
anxiety in online education in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with
23 items for students and 25 items for teachers. Data is collected by online
inquiries with students and teachers According to the findings, the general
degree of factors influencing anxiety from online instruction in primary
school is at moderate level. Physical and mental elements, evaluation and
course content are the categories of factors that have the most impact on
students’ anxiety toward online learning. Meanwhile, the factors that have
the greatest impact on students’ anxiety toward online learning are
concerning about their grades and courses are extremely recorded. Students
believe that online learning is more challenging than traditional classroom.
At the same time, teachers are worried about online assessment, concerns
about students who are unable to attend online sessions. Teachers who only
use computers to teach online have less anxiety than teachers who use
computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
This study aims to describe the use of technology in learning for students with special needs during the transition period after the COVID-19 pandemic to the new normal. This study is descriptive research with a survey method. The survey was conducted with 41 special education teachers with variety of special needs students. Data is collected using Google Form questionnaires. Data analysis is carried out by calculating the frequency and is presented as percentages. Participants in this study were chosen randomly for data variation. The presentation of data is carried out qualitatively based on the respondents’ answers to the questions asked. The study participants argued that hybrid learning was feasible, even though it was recognized as encountering obstacles. Based on the results of a survey conducted by special education teachers at special education school (SLB), for hybrid learning, digital platforms are used to support online learning. The platforms used are WhatsApp and video conferencing, such as Google Meet. Integrating technology is considered important for teachers to support the learning process. Conscious and planned efforts and teacher motivation are critical to increasing their experience and skills in utilizing technology in learning.

This paper investigates students' online learning experience during COVID-19, specifically aiming to
identify points of improvement within the current distance-learning infrastructure in Thailand. The
research consolidates students ’opinions toward online learning, their ease in adapting to the new learning
environment, which depends not only on each student's learning style but also on their teachers as well as
social and economic factors. Identifying the advantages and disadvantages of learning from home, the
research presents students' needs and suggestions for improvement. As such, this work may guide future
adjustments to online learning.
The shift of learning activities from face-to-face classroom interaction to online learning beyond the classroom due to the global pandemic has caused technological anxiety in teaching and learning. This study analyzed strategies to overcome learning challenges in the COVID-19 pandemic with user-friendly platforms. This study was in the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Surakarta, Indonesia, involving 469 lecturers who taught 983 classes as the respondents. The required data were collected using a webbased questionnaire using Google Forms. The data were analyzed descriptively in percentages and elaborated using focus group discussion. The data analysis showed that most teachers used WhatsApp group to overcome learning obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the considerations are the lack of information technology infrastructure, the lack of e-learning platforms, the lack of time to adapt, and the difficulty of internet access in some regions. This study contributes to the strategy performed by the lecturers to deal with these challenges is selecting a userfriendly and affordable platform for learning.

As the online scenario is very new and difficult for the mentors as well as the students, it is all the most challenging for school school students. However, the development of web Technology helps to education field, particularly routine classes possible through "Online Apps.The purpose of this survey is to find the level to how online learning Apps fulfil the educational needs for school students in Chennai Urban. The advantages and disadvantages of online learning Apps were discussed and A study was conducted among 146 students to reveal their perception of online learning Apps. The result from the survey may suggest making better online classes for students.
Ever since the pandemic occured, almost every sector utilize technology to accommodate learning. To tackle every possibility that may interfere the learning process, perspectives in using technology from teachers needed to be taken into account. Thereofore, the needs of finding the perspecives of teachers in teaching and learning especially in kindergarten are crucial since they are still new to the settings. Qualitative research design was applied through Google Form as the media to reach the participants. In collecting the data, the participants were asked about the use of the technology in the teaching and learning process using English as the language of instruction. This research involved eight teachers (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8) of English for young learners in three different schools. Results revealed that there were four main themes which indicated the use of technology in teaching in the kindergarten students, namely: i) Technology motivates children to learn; ii) Technology effects children’s health; iii) Technology is an optional medium; and iv) Suitable application are needed for better learning. These findings can be useful for the present and future stakeholders of kindergarten schools especially in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) at kindergarten settings.
Online Learning Readiness of Secondary School Teachers towards Flexible and B...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : Online learning is a challenging concept that ensures education is catered through
technological channels. This descriptive research aimed to understand readiness of teachers as they implement
teaching using flexible and blended learning as basis for an education strategy especially in this COVID-19
pandemic. The respondents were 232 selected secondary teachers in the province of Camarines Norte. The result
showed that there are 20 percent who are prepared for online teaching and most have gadgets/devices to be able
to perform their online role as teachers. However, 80 percent of respondents have issues especially along the
financial implication of flexible/blended learning as internet is quite costly in the Philippines and technological
gadgets are expensive. The study recommends training, planning, and restructuring towards strengthening
technology utilization, access, and resource generation for better delivery of education. It draws implications on
developing better key strategies in building smart ways and reducing challenges in online education.

The online learning in English language has been going along with the rapid
development and diffusion of the information and communication
techologies and shifted from being merely marginal trend to become
popular, where the number of higher education institutions has dramatically
increased to offer and led to extremely changes many aspect in learning
societies. This study explores the technical abilities, technology accessibility
and self-directed learning that contribute to student attitudes towards online
English learning in predicting the continuance intention of the online
learning. This study employed quantitative approach. There were 10 tertiary
students interviewed as preliminary study, then 36 students were surveyed
through questionnaire in a pilot test. The validated questionaire were used in
this study on the 102 students. Rasch measurement model was utilized to
validate the 25 items of questionnaire, meanwhile the Smart PLS ver. 2.0
was used to assess the regression of exogen to endogen variables. The study
concluded that self- directed learning contributed to the attitude towards
online English language learning as mediator to continuance intention of
online learning. The ability and positive attitude in using digital technology
must be present to support English learning current and forthcoming. The
next research can focus more on how students adapt to a variety of rapidly
changing technologies to support their English skills.
The Muhammadiyah organization has inclusive schools that need to adapt
during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study
aimed to analyze the adaptation strategies carried out by two Muhammadiyah
inclusion schools in Surabaya, Indonesia, Sekolah Peduli Anak Hebat
(SPAH) and the Sekolah Kreatif Surabaya. This study used a qualitative
descriptive approach with a phenomenology method to see the particular
context of the two inclusion schools' learning situation during the COVID-19
pandemic. The data were collected using interviews and observations. Two
coordinators for students with disabilities and five teachers were interviewed
about policies and learning processes during the pandemic. The observation
was done during the learning process. The secondary data was also collected
by searching in their social media and e-learning platforms. The data analysis
showed that the adaptation strategies were to coordinate and regularly
collaborate between parent-teachers-students, build community cooperation,
and make flexible and accessible learning policies. It proved that the two
Muhammadiyah inclusion schools in Surabaya had adapted to online learning
during the pandemic COVID-19. However, the two schools still need to
improve quality, especially in creating an accessible asynchronous learning
platform for students with disabilities.

EVALUTING ONLINE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : This research evaluates online learning applied during the COVID-19 pandemic at junior high
schools in Gorontalo District. It takes perspectives from available resources, implementation processes,
achievements, and the influences on student character, knowledge, and skill changes. This evaluative research
was using the CIPPO (Context, Input, Process, Product, and Outcome) model. Research data were collected
through interview, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method
made up of five steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, triangulation, and conclusion
verification. Online learning at junior high schools in Gorontalo District had adhered to the Circular Letter of
the Ministry of Education and culture of the Republic of Indonesia and Gorontalo Regent Regulation. Based on
the input aspects, embracing human resources, facilities and infrastructures, and funding, all schools had
adequate resources for online learning implementation. And yet, some factors came in the way of online
learning. For example, as regards human resources, teachers did not understand how to use technology in online
learning, and several teachers did not have smartphones or laptops. Attributed to students, students could not
understand materials, and some could not afford required gadgets due to family economy condition.
Additionally, some parents could not help students understand materials and assist them during learning
processes. These problems led to declined online learning program products (student learning achievements).
Student achievements were worse than that in previous years. However, student learning competencies
developed significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT:The teaching and learning process has been a big revolution since Corona Virus Disease 19
(COVID-19) has spread out to the world. This paper assessed adoption of Online Teaching and Learning in the
Midst of COVID-19 in Tertiary Learning Institutions in Tanzania. Specifically, the study examined readiness
level of students and teachers on the practices of online teaching and learning strategy during COVID-19 and
lock down; the attitude of students towards online teaching and learning; and online teaching and learning
facilities in Tertiary Learning Institutions in Tanzania. A case study research design was adopted while a sample
of 87 respondents was selected using judgemental sampling technique. Data was collected through a
questionnaire tool while descriptive statistics was used for data analysis. The findings revealed that57.5% of
students were ready to learn though online services. On other hand the findings revealed that college
management and staff were not ready to adopt online teaching and learning strategy. The reluctant of staffs
were caused by inadequate online learning resources, incapability of staff, and absence of policies and
guidelines issued by government on application of online teaching and learning programs. The study concludes
that although there was high degree of readiness of students and internet accessibility, the adoption of online
teaching and learning strategy was impossible due to inadequate facilities. Therefore, the study recommend to
the government to establish and issue the policies and guidelines about the application of online teaching and
learning technologies.

The COVID 19 pandemic has not only affected higher education on a global scale, but it has also brought numerous challenges to the higher education community. Remote learning refers to situations where learners and lecturers or information sources, separated by time and distance, and therefore cannot meet their needs in a traditional classroom environment. It can encompass a wide variety of learning opportunities. This could include exploring the natural world, activities to support students’ local communities with appropriate social distancing , and engaging in hands on projects and artistic creations that stem from students’ passions and experiences. The purpose of the study is to emphasize the benefits and impact of remote learning on higher education. The research method of this study used the second hand data listed in different databases of books, research papers and related articles on remote learning and higher education on the Internet. The research results of the paper show that higher education in India lacks challenges in terms of declining institutional income and national budget cuts, deterioration of financial conditions among students, quality problems of remote learning, and inefficient credit transfers. The study also reports on various opportunities for higher education. Researchers have found that remote learning can help promote flexible schedules. Learn important skills enhance technical knowledge a safer and more accessible environment a world full of possibilities walk your own way and build long remote friendships. Higher education institutions need to improve their quality and reputation. Colleges and universities should have good infrastructure to attract students. The government must promote cooperation between Indian higher education institutions and top international institutions. It can also establish links between national research laboratories and research centers of top institutions to improve quality and conduct collaborative research. Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has impacted the continuity of learning in
education aspects. This research aimed to analyze the challenges and the
adaptative strategy of online learning for urban vocational school teachers
and students during COVID-19. The research applied a descriptive
qualitative design in supporting the data needed. The sample of the study
was taken randomly from a vocational school in Indonesia consisting of
seven students and four teachers in English subject teaching class. In
gathering the data, observation and interview were used as research
instrument and it was analyzed using Braun’s thematic analysis. The data
gathered revealed that vocational school students face some challenges when
learning online in English teaching subject during COVID-19 pandemic and
did the adaptation dealing with the situation. The interview exposed the
challenge faced by the vocational school teachers and students during online
learning covering lack of lesson understanding, low creativity in using
learning sources, lack of psychological bond with the teacher, internet
stability, lack of face meeting exposure, and learning accessibility. The
adaptive strategy implemented by the respondents mainly link with technical
stuff like stabilizing internet coverage, searching the learning resource more
intensive, and providing learning module.

ABSTRACT: E-learning system through a variety of applications can encourage the realization of the ideals of education to provide equality of opportunity to all society. The essence of open education is to eliminate the limitations to be able to gain access to higher education for the community at large. Success story of online tutorial services of Universitas Terbuka (UT/Open University) is a proof that can demonstrate more efficient delivery of educational achievement. Perceived satisfaction of students to the online tutorial services became evident that the optimal use of technology to bridge the establishment of an optimal learning process so that students can obtain a quality education is not inferior to conventional universities. This condition will be able to change the paradigm of society that the opportunity to obtain higher education which was originally impossible becomes possible, which is easy, comfortable, flexible and affordable.
This systematic literature review (SLR) aimed to investigate the potential of digital online game-based learning (DOGBL) to enhance motivation in English as a foreign language (EFL). Online gaming has grown in popularity among students, opening up the possibility of using games as powerful instructional resources. Academic achievement depends on motivation, and this study, led by self-determination theory (SDT), explored how external rules, like rewards and recognition, could increase motivation in EFL utilizing DOGBL. The study used the SLR method, examining databases and choosing articles based on predetermined criteria. The chosen publications were examined in-depth, and a preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) diagram was employed for analysis. For results, DOGBL could enhance teaching EFL by providing flexible and interesting learning environments. Key elements in motivating in DOGBL included game design, personalization, social engagement, curricular integration, and instructor assistance. As a promising method to improve EFL instruction, game-based learning, especially DOGBL, saw considerable developments between 2018 and 2023. Thus, these ground-breaking techniques transformed the way people learn English vocabulary and provided a fun and engaging way to learn the language. For educators and students, the potential for DOGBL to change EFL education is still exciting as technology develops.
The development of postmodern-era technology in the world of education is increasingly sophisticated, thus impacting the character of students and their social environment. Technological progress negatively affects the lives of today's generation. When misuse of technology is widespread, it is imperative to strengthen cultural and religious filtration. So that the influence of globalization on technological development can be minimized. So as not to damage the cultural values and morality of students as the next generation of the nation. This study aims to explain the importance of transforming the values of Bima's local wisdom "Nggusu Waru" through the media of social studies e-books. The results and conclusions of this study are efforts to develop students' social character that require teacher collaboration, supervision, and optimal parental attention so that their interest in learning is higher and minimizes deviant behavior. This research method uses research and development design. At the stage of preliminary studies with models developed by Borg and Gall. Through several stages of research, information gathering, development of initial forms of products, and initial field testing. In this step, data is collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The data is analyzed to find out some of its weaknesses and shortcomings.

This study analyzed strategies to overcome learning challenges in the COVID-19 pandemic with user-friendly platforms. This study was in the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Surakarta, Indonesia, involving 469 lecturers who taught 983 classes as the respondents. The required data were collected using a webbased questionnaire using Google Forms. The data were analyzed descriptively in percentages and elaborated using focus group discussion. The data analysis showed that most teachers used WhatsApp group to overcome learning obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the considerations are the lack of information technology infrastructure, the lack of e-learning platforms, the lack of time to adapt, and the difficulty of internet access in some regions. This study contributes to the strategy performed by the lecturers to deal with these challenges is selecting a userfriendly and affordable platform for learning.

All over the world Online learning apps have increased during this Covid-19 Pandemic. As the online scenario is very new and difficult for the mentors as well as the students, it is all the most challenging for school school students. However, the development of web Technology helps to education field, particularly routine classes possible through "Online Apps.The purpose of this survey is to find the level to how online learning Apps fulfil the educational needs for school students in Chennai Urban. The advantages and disadvantages of online learning Apps were discussed and A study was conducted among 146 students to reveal their perception of online learning Apps. The result from the survey may suggest making better online classes for students.
Ever since the pandemic occured, almost every sector utilize technology to accommodate learning. To tackle every possibility that may interfere the learning process, perspectives in using technology from teachers needed to be taken into account. Thereofore, the needs of finding the perspecives of teachers in teaching and learning especially in kindergarten are crucial since they are still new to the settings. Qualitative research design was applied through Google Form as the media to reach the participants. In collecting the data, the participants were asked about the use of the technology in the teaching and learning process using English as the language of instruction. This research involved eight teachers (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8) of English for young learners in three different schools. Results revealed that there were four main themes which indicated the use of technology in teaching in the kindergarten students, namely: i) Technology motivates children to learn; ii) Technology effects children’s health; iii) Technology is an optional medium; and iv) Suitable application are needed for better learning. These findings can be useful for the present and future stakeholders of kindergarten schools especially in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) at kindergarten settings.
Online Learning Readiness of Secondary School Teachers towards Flexible and B...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : Online learning is a challenging concept that ensures education is catered through
technological channels. This descriptive research aimed to understand readiness of teachers as they implement
teaching using flexible and blended learning as basis for an education strategy especially in this COVID-19
pandemic. The respondents were 232 selected secondary teachers in the province of Camarines Norte. The result
showed that there are 20 percent who are prepared for online teaching and most have gadgets/devices to be able
to perform their online role as teachers. However, 80 percent of respondents have issues especially along the
financial implication of flexible/blended learning as internet is quite costly in the Philippines and technological
gadgets are expensive. The study recommends training, planning, and restructuring towards strengthening
technology utilization, access, and resource generation for better delivery of education. It draws implications on
developing better key strategies in building smart ways and reducing challenges in online education.

The online learning in English language has been going along with the rapid
development and diffusion of the information and communication
techologies and shifted from being merely marginal trend to become
popular, where the number of higher education institutions has dramatically
increased to offer and led to extremely changes many aspect in learning
societies. This study explores the technical abilities, technology accessibility
and self-directed learning that contribute to student attitudes towards online
English learning in predicting the continuance intention of the online
learning. This study employed quantitative approach. There were 10 tertiary
students interviewed as preliminary study, then 36 students were surveyed
through questionnaire in a pilot test. The validated questionaire were used in
this study on the 102 students. Rasch measurement model was utilized to
validate the 25 items of questionnaire, meanwhile the Smart PLS ver. 2.0
was used to assess the regression of exogen to endogen variables. The study
concluded that self- directed learning contributed to the attitude towards
online English language learning as mediator to continuance intention of
online learning. The ability and positive attitude in using digital technology
must be present to support English learning current and forthcoming. The
next research can focus more on how students adapt to a variety of rapidly
changing technologies to support their English skills.
The Muhammadiyah organization has inclusive schools that need to adapt
during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study
aimed to analyze the adaptation strategies carried out by two Muhammadiyah
inclusion schools in Surabaya, Indonesia, Sekolah Peduli Anak Hebat
(SPAH) and the Sekolah Kreatif Surabaya. This study used a qualitative
descriptive approach with a phenomenology method to see the particular
context of the two inclusion schools' learning situation during the COVID-19
pandemic. The data were collected using interviews and observations. Two
coordinators for students with disabilities and five teachers were interviewed
about policies and learning processes during the pandemic. The observation
was done during the learning process. The secondary data was also collected
by searching in their social media and e-learning platforms. The data analysis
showed that the adaptation strategies were to coordinate and regularly
collaborate between parent-teachers-students, build community cooperation,
and make flexible and accessible learning policies. It proved that the two
Muhammadiyah inclusion schools in Surabaya had adapted to online learning
during the pandemic COVID-19. However, the two schools still need to
improve quality, especially in creating an accessible asynchronous learning
platform for students with disabilities.

ABSTRACT : This research evaluates online learning applied during the COVID-19 pandemic at junior high
schools in Gorontalo District. It takes perspectives from available resources, implementation processes,
achievements, and the influences on student character, knowledge, and skill changes. This evaluative research
was using the CIPPO (Context, Input, Process, Product, and Outcome) model. Research data were collected
through interview, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method
made up of five steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, triangulation, and conclusion
verification. Online learning at junior high schools in Gorontalo District had adhered to the Circular Letter of
the Ministry of Education and culture of the Republic of Indonesia and Gorontalo Regent Regulation. Based on
the input aspects, embracing human resources, facilities and infrastructures, and funding, all schools had
adequate resources for online learning implementation. And yet, some factors came in the way of online
learning. For example, as regards human resources, teachers did not understand how to use technology in online
learning, and several teachers did not have smartphones or laptops. Attributed to students, students could not
understand materials, and some could not afford required gadgets due to family economy condition.
Additionally, some parents could not help students understand materials and assist them during learning
processes. These problems led to declined online learning program products (student learning achievements).
Student achievements were worse than that in previous years. However, student learning competencies
developed significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This research investigated the pre-service teachers’ self-regulation, selfefficacy, and mathematics performance in blended learning during the post Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in a state university using a descriptive correlational design. There were 201 pre-service teachers who were identified using simple random sampling. They answered the two-set survey questionnaire, which assessed their self-regulation and self-efficacy, while their performances were assessed using their grades in the subject. The data gathered were treated using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that they had high self-regulation while they had a very high level of self-efficacy. At the same time, they had a very satisfactory performance in mathematics. Moreover, their self-regulation in terms of planning, monitoring, and adjusting was significantly correlated with their math performance while reflecting is not. However, no significant relationship was found between their self-efficacy and mathematics performance. Thus, instructors are encouraged to conduct monitoring during blended learning to encourage pre-service teachers to maintain their high level of self-regulation and self-efficacy in learning mathematics. In addition, future researchers may explore the same variables to validate the findings of the study because these findings are limited only to pre-service teachers and were conducted during the post COVID-19 pandemic.
This study explores the correlation between technology utilization and language acquisition while analyzing the impact of moderating variables on this relation. Our meta-analysis approach analyzes data from 43 extracts out of 19 primary studies published between 2012 and 2021. Our data analysis employs a random-effect model utilizing a significance level of α = 0.05. Additionally, the authors examine four moderating variables: level of education, location of research, proficiency in language, and year of publication. Technology-based language acquisition outperforms traditional methods, indicating a significant and moderate impact on the learning process. This study enhances comprehension of the efficacy of technology in language acquisition by identifying various factors, such as the geographical location of research, methods of assessing language proficiency, and technology type employed. However, there is insufficient evidence to support the notion that educational level or sample size significantly impact technology-based language acquisition. This meta-analysis highlights the importance of considering nuanced factors when integrating technology into language learning. The findings emphasize the possibility of technology to transform methods of acquiring language and urge additional investigation into customized strategies that optimize its advantages.
Effective science instruction in a blended learning approach is synonymous with the strategic use of instructional videos (IVs) to fill the gap in teacher support. This study aims to determine the IVs’ effectiveness in improving students' concept retention and overall learning experiences. The experimental group was exposed to instruction integrating IVs via embedded mixed-method design, whereas the control group was exposed to traditional lecture methods. The results showed that students' post-test scores and concept retention improved significantly in the experimental group, where students reported better learning experiences than in the control group. This beneficial effect of a technology-integrated approach can be attributed to various elements of IVs, such as engaging content, motion graphics, video length, the language used, and the speaker's perspective. This study recommends that IVs be used to enhance learning opportunities and results in the teaching and learning process.
Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are an important element in facing the challenges of the 21 st-century. Difficulty in solving problems systematically, facing challenges in an organized manner, and being unable to design original solutions are due to the low HOTS that students have. HOTS ability can improve students who low-level thinking skills in several ways, for example, through learning integrated with media, practice, and assessment or HOTS-based cognitive assessment. The purpose of this study was to develop and implement a HOTS-based cognitive assessment to assess students' HOTS abilities. The device development model used is an adaptation of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model. The research sample consisted of 30 students in class 11 of the Governance and Office Automation Competency Program of Vocational High School 1 Kudus. The result is that 11 students have the HOTS ability with very good criteria, 17 well criteria, and 2 enough criteria. This study suggests that a test instrument for further research is to measure students' HOTS ability. The Experts conclude that HOTS-based cognitive assessment can be used as an approach to improve students' HOTS to actively think selectively and supported by logical argumentation.
The background of this research is the need for teacher innovation in developing digital-based learning media in Indonesian language learning. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (ADDIE) model, which consists of five research stages: analysis, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection techniques are questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation that present the results regarding innovation, features, applications, and the impact of using the benkangen game in learning Indonesian in elementary school. The subjects of this study were 25 teachers from 25 elementary schools, and 66 students from 10 elementary schools in Magelang district and Magelang city. The results showed innovation in the development of game applications based on Magelang local wisdom with game features in the form of puzzles of Magelang culture and local wisdom, Indonesian language learning materials packaged in the form of questions accompanied by the number of points in each answer, and audio that reflects local wisdom in Central Java. The novelty of this research is the development of the benkangen game based on Magelang local wisdom, which still needs to be developed by teachers in Indonesia. Future research needs to explore the innovation of Indonesian language learning games through the latest software.
The specific processes, techniques, and actions that learners take to facilitate their language learning have been widely explored under the concept of language learning strategies (LLS); however, more exploration is needed about recent investigations in this area, as calls for new theorization of strategies research have emerged. This systematic literature review aimed at exploring the prevailing research methodologies and educational settings appertaining to LLS in English as foreign language (EFL) contexts. The study analyzed 42 articles published from 2017 to 2023 in journals in the field of social sciences in the Scopus and ERIC databases. The findings show how non-intervention quantitative approaches are predominant in LLS research, occasionally accompanied by qualitative data collection methods. Accordingly, most research has favored descriptive and correlational designs, identifying the relationships between the use of strategies and variables such as language proficiency, demographic aspects, motivation, and self-regulation. Grounded on the revision of existing evidence, this article advises future strategy-based research to focus on primary and secondary levels of education, strategy instruction, cultural aspects, and qualitative research designs.
This study aimed to i) analyse learning problems in science at boarding schools for junior high school students and ii) determine the effectiveness of science learning in the context of Islamic teachings using the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, -religion (STEM-R) approach to improve reflective and critical thinking skills. The research method applied in this study was a sequential exploratory mixed method. The research design consisted of five stages: i) qualitative data gathering, ii) qualitative data analysis, iii) quantitative data gathering, iv) quantitative data analysis, and v) data interpretation. The subjects of this study were 192 students from boarding schools and were divided into 6 groups. The research results obtained were the school, parents, science teachers and religion teachers’ vision and mission causing students to like or dislike science. An excellent teacher is viewed by students as someone who can make learning enjoyable, exhibit creativity in presenting educational material, possess the ability to motivate, link science and religion, engage in investigative activities, infuse humour, establish connections between science and everyday life, and communicate concepts effectively. Moreover, distinctions in reflective thinking and critical thinking abilities were observed between the experimental group and the control group. Learning that connects science and Islamic religion and examines STEM-R aspects is able to develop students' thinking skills.
This study aims to reveal the profile of open-start problem-solving with ethnomathematics regarding student learning styles. This research is a qualitative research study on 3 out of 31 students of Junior High School of 3 Magetan taken by purposive sampling. The three students carried out four stages: understanding the problem, planning problem-solving strategies, implementing problem-solving strategies, and reviewing again. The results of the research show that students with a visual learning style solve problems by understanding problems through writing known and being asked and drawing illustrations, planning problem-solving strategies by making examples, carrying out solving strategies by working on the calculation process; students with an auditory learning style solve problems by understanding problems through writing known and being asked, planning strategies by making problems and formulating formulas used, implementing solutions by doing calculations and reviewing; students with a kinesthetic learning style solve problems by understanding issues through writing known and being asked, making examples and writing the formulas used, carrying out solving strategies by applying the calculation process and reviewing the results obtained. However, of the three styles, the results of the accepted work were not correct because they did not write down the conclusions and were not thorough enough.
The volunteer function inventory (VFI) is an assessment tool to measure individual volunteer motivation. VFI measures individual motivation to volunteer by examining the functional motives of each volunteer. This research aimed to adapt the VFI to the Indonesian language. VFI consists of 30 items divided into five dimensions. This study utilized a non-experimental quantitative research method. Samples were acquired by accidental random sampling with N = 176. In this study, reliability testing was carried out with items and dimensions of Cronbach's α. Validity tests were examined using construct validity and item analysis. The results of the Indonesian version of VFI showed high reliability and validity. Besides, the item analysis also shows that the quality of each item is excellent. The Indonesian version of VFI will be suitable for various education fields in Indonesia to measure the students' voluntary willingness in community development activities, for example, in measuring the impact of volunteerism in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) social activities and other activities within the communities.
Digital history-based project-based learning (PjBL) in history learning is a learning medium that can provide a special attraction for students who can improve historical concept skills and historical awareness. However, there are still many teachers who have not used it, so it is very important to study it. This research aims to analyze the influence of the digital history based PJBL model in improving historical concept skills and historical awareness. The method used is quasi-experimental with two classes, experimental and control. The population used class XI high school students in Lampung, Indonesia and the sample size was 213. Cluster random sampling was used to determine sampling, while data collection was in the form of test instruments. The test instrument questions were analyzed using the gain score and Kruskal-Walli’s test to determine the increase in historical concept skills and historical awareness with the help of statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) 26. The research results confirmed that digital history based PjBL was effective in increasing historical concept skills and historical awareness with a high score, making it the best choice to overcome obstacles in history learning.
This study aims to determine how using an active learning model based on the three higher education principles can improve students' active learning. Qualitative research methods were applied in this study, with data collection through interviews, literature study, and observation. The results showed that active learning based on the three higher education principles was included in the "good" or "acceptable" category. The application of this model can make this campus a place with a positive academic atmosphere that enhances and supports collaboration, discussion, and positive and critical thinking. The novelty of this research lies in the use of active learning with mini-research projects, which are developed based on university principles and embody it. The hope is that this can help solve problems in the student learning process at the State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The expected implication is that the university's policy supports applying the model to resolve learning problems and build real scientists for students.
Integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in teacher education is a means to support the teaching and learning process. Good teaching by utilizing technology certainly requires changes, especially in the realm of pedagogy, but teachers apparently do not have enough ability to optimize ICT in the learning process. In fact, ICT has the potential to provide various benefits for teachers and students, including joint learning areas, cooperative and collaborative learning opportunities. Therefore, this research aims to identify the use of mobile learning application (MLA) and its impact as a form of ICT integration in learning. The method used is literature study, by taking data from various relevant scientific articles and books. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis from the results of the synthesis of several literature reviews obtained. The research results show that a number of 10 main articles and 15 relevant supporting articles as well as several book sources show that mobile-based learning with smartphone devices is becoming a trend at various levels of education, both academic and vocational.
Incorporating ethnoscience into lessons through the ethnoscience-students’ worksheet (ESW) is one method to improve student interest in science learning while introducing them to the local culture. However, no research was reported the effects of ESW on students' responses and the factors that influence ESW implementation in science learning. In order to better understand how students learn through ESW, this study investigated the relationship between ethnoscience context, science learning, and the implementation of students’ worksheets. Seventy-two students participated in the survey after they studied ethnoscience learning through ESW. Students’ responses are more influenced by science learning. In addition, the ethnoscience-integrated students’ worksheets (SW) variable indirectly affects students’ responses. Additionally, ESW affects students' responses more significantly than science learning and ethnoscience. This research provides insightful implications for educators on planning, designing, and practicing ESW to enhance students’ problem-solving motivation and academic achievement. Furthermore, to contribute significantly to future researchers, further research employed the structural equation model through covariance analysis, also known as confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).
This research aimed to assess the readiness of Indonesian pre-service science teachers by examining their perceptions of impending challenges, desired competencies, and anticipated instructional methodologies in preparing for the challenges of Society 5.0. Using a quantitative survey research methodology, 884 pre-service science teachers from 16 universities were surveyed. The research instrument's validity and reliability were assessed utilizing the Rasch model. Inferential statistics were employed to assess the readiness of pre-service science teachers for future challenges, taking into account their backgrounds. The test outcomes showed the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient reached 0.92, is deemed "excellent", affirming the instrument's high reliability. The findings of the study revealed that the majority of teachers share a consistent perception of future challenges and recognize the importance of mastering 21st-century skills, particularly critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration. However, respondents believe that the current learning process does not adequately train these skills. They expressed a desire for an alternative learning method that can enhance their skills while accommodating their diverse backgrounds, including place of residence, economic background, and technological proficiency. Further research is needed to identify alternative teaching methods that can effectively foster these abilities in diverse backgrounds.
The issue of psychological well-being in education has emerged as an increasingly critical topic in recent years. This is due to the significance of psychological well-being in enhancing the performance of e ducational institutions, encompassing students, teachers, and the process of formulating school policies. This study sought to discover recent research on psychological well-being from an academic perspective. A total of 27 research articles were successfully gathered and reviewed based on the established criteria. This article review was conducted utilizing two databases (SCOPUS and WoS) and the following keywords: "psychological well-being" combined with "AND" and other search terms such as "school", "teacher", and "student". This systematic review offers a synthesis of results that can serve as the initial step in developing constructs of psychological well-being in educational institutions, thus implying the importance of psychological well-being for teachers and students. The results of the analysis from this systematic literature review have been discussed and concluded in this study.
This study aims to investigate Indonesian senior high school teachers’ perceptions of using the first language (L1) when teaching English because Indonesian teachers tend to have negative perceptions toward the application of the L1, while the L1 is needed in a situation where Indonesian students have limited skills in English. The semi-structured interview was applied to collect data, while thematic analysis was used to analyse it. The result showed that the teachers have three different positions in perceiving the use of the L1: the virtual position, maximal, and optimal positions. Although they have different perceptions toward the application of the L1, a major insight can be concluded about the limited use of the L1 for specific reasons, such as considering teachers’ and students’ English abilities, learners’ needs, and the type and the difficulty of the given task or assignment. The L1 can be functioned as scaffolding in three aspects: when teaching grammar, vocabulary, and when giving instructions. Teachers may consider this study’s results as the information to use the L1 in classrooms. This may also be beneficial for Indonesian educational stakeholders and the government to specifically define what type of scaffolding that teachers can use the L1 to teach English.
The Smile project is an engineering service-learning initiative carried out through collaboration between Chouaib Doukkali University in Morocco and Pusan National University in South Korea. Since 2016, this project has been conducted annually for engineering students from both universities. Participants are selected through an oral interview, ensuring representation from different majors, years, and genders. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project transitioned to an online mode starting from 2020. The objective of this article is to investigate the impact of the service-learning approach on learning and its potential for enhancing engineering education. This study aims to compare the face-to-face and online implementations of the Smileproject as examples of this educational approach. The analysis demonstrates a strong positive effect of engineering service-learning as a learning approach, leading to the improvement of engineering students' skills and competencies. Notably, there is minimal difference between the two implementation modes of this learning approach.
This study examined the role of technology integration and teachers' professional competence in developing 21st-century learning. Present studies show a significant gap between technology integration and teachers’ competency in developing 21st-century learning. This study highlights the pivotal roles of technology integration and teacher competence in modern education. In an era where technology has transformed teaching and learning, understanding the synergy between these two factors is crucial for educational advancements. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach. It seeks to understand the current state of technology integration and teacher competence by collecting data from in-service teachers within the English teacher's forum. The data collection methods encompass questionnaires and interviews to gain comprehensive insights into the subject matter. The research design of this study primarily relies on a descriptive approach, which involves the systematic collection and analysis of data to describe and understand the existing situation. The data-gathering process, through questionnaires and interviews, ensures a comprehensive exploration of the research questions. The results show that technology integration and teacher competency significantly influence the development of 21st-century learning.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

This research aimed to develop online learning guidebook for junior high
school level. The method used in this research was research and development
in terms of 4-D model development which consists of four main stages:
Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The informants were study
consisted of 2 expert informants and 17 junior high school teachers in
Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This type of research data was
descriptive qualitative. The data collected were in the form of suggestions
and responses put forward by the informants. This information was collected
and summarized to improve the learning products developed. The results
showed that the developed online learning guidebook has met the appropriate
criteria in the media and language aspects by the respective experts. Besides,
Teachers find that this guidebook is very interesting and useful as a guide in
online learning, especially during the current pandemic. Furthermore, the
developed guide book fosters curiosity of teachers to find out the use of
applications in the book, and makes teachers think creatively in making
learning media. The online learning guidebook is advantaged for the teachers
to provide interesting learning media and material for students especially in
this pandemic era.

1. INTRODUCTION
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus Disease 19 (SARS-CoV-19) or Covid-19 is the
name of a now endemic disease in our beloved homeland and all parts of the world [1]. Covid-19 has graced
the country's print media headlines and has become the headline of news on our national television stations.
This epidemic spread massively and sporadically, leaving traces of impact in every line of life of this nation.
The high level of spread and severity of covid-19 prompted the world health agency WHO to designate the
Covid-19 Outbreak as a Pandemic on March 12, 2020. The extraordinary conditions in our homeland due to
covid-19 forced President to set Covid-19 through a Presidential Decree concerning the Determination of
Non-Natural Disaster for the Spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) as a National Disaster in
2020. The status of this emergency is very dependent on the two leading indicators mentioned in the
presidential decree. First, the spread of the SARS-CoV-19 virus, which is still occurring and causing
casualties, property losses, the expansion of the affected area's coverage, and implications for socio-
economic aspects.

This pandemic mass forces us to adapt quickly, prompting us to modify old habits no longer
relevant to the pandemic situation. Various ways and methods are applied to continue carrying out productive
activities to survive amid these conditions. The new normal policies promoted by the Government have also
been implemented in all things, be it social, economic, and diversity, which also changes existing policies,
including our world of education.
The process of learning and teaching activities must always be increased in effectiveness and
efficiency; this improves the quality of education itself. The learning process must be capable of helping
students to become people facing the growth of the times [2]. Therefore, to increase the effectiveness of
learning without taking up a lot of time, a teacher must be smart in choosing what methods to use so that
students can quickly understand what they are saying. It is concluded that the activity is said to be effective if
the activity can be completed at the right time and achieve the desired goals. Learning effectiveness is one of
the standards for the quality of education that is measured by the achievement of learning objectives [3].
Besides, the effectiveness of learning can be seen from the interaction between students and between students
and teachers in learning, student responses to learning, and students' mastery of concepts.
Since March 2020, the Indonesian Government issued a policy for implementing the teaching and
learning process with an online system [4]. The learning system is carried out without face-to-face but is
carried out using a distance learning system [4], [5]. The change in the teaching paradigm that was initially
carried out in the classroom, through face-to-face between teachers and students, which later turned into
online teaching through learning application media [6], cannot be implemented quickly. There are many
variances of problems that hinder learning effectiveness with online methods, including: 1) Limited mastery
of technology by teachers [7] and students in Indonesia limits them in using online media; 2) Inadequate
supporting facilities and infrastructure for information technology; 3) Limited internet access; and 4)
Ineffective provision of the Budget [8].
Online learning is carried out remotely through the media in the form of the internet and supporting
tools such as smartphones, laptops/computers. Online learning can make students learn independently, and
their motivation increases [9]. Online learning can be done by combining learning resources such as
documents, videos, images, and audio [10]. Suppose the teacher can design the learning media as attractive as
possible by combining these learning resources. In that case, it is hoped that it can attract students' interest in
learning to achieve learning objectives.
There are several advantages and disadvantages of online learning, namely the flexibility of time
and place to study. For example, learning can be done anywhere by utilizing the internet network both at
home and. The time can be adjusted, for example, morning, afternoon, evening, or night. Besides, it can
overcome distance problems. For instance, students do not have to go to school to study [11], [12]. In
addition, the weaknesses of students' online learning are not well supervised during the online learning
process, lack of motivation [13], [14], the weak internet signal, the high cost of data packages, and students’
understanding are challenges for online learning.
Online learning process technically experiences many obstacles [15] during pandemic COVID-19 at
the level of primary, secondary, and upper education [16]. Students from families who do not have internet
access or even do not have cellphones will miss learning when learning assignments are delivered via the
WhatsApp application or others. In addition, another impact felt by students from learning from home is too
much learning load. At the same time, students are required to observe and understand the subject matter
themselves quickly. Even if given the space to ask the teacher via the WhatsApp application message, it is
felt that it is not enough time. And, most easily observed by students' parents, learning to teach from home
also makes students easily bored because they cannot interact directly with teachers and their friends. Their
parents seemed to oppose online learning and even condemn it [17].
We must admit that the implementation of online learning has not been carried out effectively. The
problems previously mentioned above also haunt the execution of online learning in our area of Southeast
Sulawesi. It also needs to be acknowledged that the online education that we are currently carrying out still
seems to be carried out in a hurry, without adequate school preparation. It purely relies on the individual
teacher's ability to explore good online learning media carrying out their teaching assignments. In our
opinion, this condition is a significant problem to be resolved for the implementation of a good knowledge
transfer.
The face-to-face learning method that has been carried out so far is the result of continuous
experience and learning, experiences regarding how to develop learning methods that are interesting and fun
for students in transferring knowledge from teachers to students. This is what we think is missing in the
implementation of online learning. Limited knowledge and access to teachers' information, especially in
elementary and middle schools, to online learning media and weak mastery of learning application
technology, are weaknesses that occur at this time. The existence of a guideline for implementing online
learning is needed in our midst.

The policy of shifting the School Operational Cost Fund allocation that is now being carried out by
the Indonesian Government shows that this online learning policy has the full support of the Indonesian
Government [18]. This condition should encourage us to improve the stages of implementing online learning
that we have now. Along with the times, especially in supporting the Government's plan to enter the
Industrial Revolution 4.0, this online learning process may continue after the pandemic. We must respond to
this change wisely and require all of us education stakeholders to prepare ourselves so that the mastery of
educational technology media can be used optimally.
Zhafira, Ertika, and Chairiyanto [19] found that out of 165 students of the Faculty of Economics,
Teuku Umar University who are classified as millennials based on their age, it is more convenient to use the
WhatsApp application and google classroom to use in this online learning model. Fitriyani, Fauzi, and Sari
[20] revealed that the results of student motivation to learn during the pandemic were very good. The eight
indicators of learning motivation, namely concentration, curiosity, enthusiasm, independence, readiness,
enthusiasm or encouragement, never giving up, and self-confidence, showed an average percentage score of
80.27%.
Based on previous research, what distinguishes this research from previous research is that the
researcher tries to create an online learning guide for junior high schools. Researchers see that several
universities already have online learning guides. Meanwhile, schools do not have online learning guides.
Therefore, researchers hope that with online learning guides for junior high schools, teachers and students are
motivated to carry out learning and teaching processes during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The researchers will do to support the government's plan to hold online learning, namely by making
online learning guides for junior high schools that have not been provided by schools. The objectives of
completing this online learning guide are: 1) To facilitate teachers in the learning process; 2) Make it easier
for students to receive the material and assignments given by the teacher; 3) Make it easy for teachers and
students to use online learning media; 4) Help teachers choose the learning media used.
2. RESEARCH METHOD
Research and development design was employed in this study. In research and development
methods, there are several types of models. The model of this study was a 4-D model. The 4-D (Four D)
development model is a learning device development model [21]. The 4-D development model consists of 4
main stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. This method and model were chosen because it aims
to develop learning tools. Therefore, in this research, the researchers developed a product in an online
learning guide book.
The informants in this study consisted of: 1) Expert Informants are groups of experts who are
competent in their fields: one Media Experts and one Language Experts to determine the quality of the
learning products being developed; 2) 17 Teachers of Kendari City Junior High School, as users of the
learning products developed. The instrument used in the development of this online learning guide book was
a research questionnaire. This questionnaire contains responses from informants, namely media experts,
language experts, and lecturers as users. This is intended to determine the product's quality and effectiveness,
which can be used as a learning medium or facility.
Data were collected by distributing the instrument to several informants. The instrument was
designed to know the quality, effectiveness, and weaknesses of the developed learning design, both from the
aspects of the method, media, aspects of the material's depth, aspects of learning, and students' use.
Instruments for media experts are used to obtain data on visual and other technical aspects. Instruments for
language experts and teachers were used to obtain data on aspects of learning and aspects of content,
methods, and media.
This type of research data was descriptive qualitative data. The data collected were in the form of
suggestions and responses put forward by the informants. This information was collected and summarized to
improve the learning products developed. The data was then converted into the quantitative form using scores
to be given categories for each aspect studied. This category was a reference for the product's appropriateness
developed to be used as a medium or teacher and student learning facility.
3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The result of this research is a product in the form of an online learning guide book for junior high
school level in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The resulting guidebook will be used to: 1)
Facilitate teachers in the learning process; 2) Make it easier for students to receive the material and
assignments given by the teacher; 3) Make it easy for teachers and students to use online learning media; 4)
Help teachers choose the learning media used. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) type of

research with a 4-D development model (Four D-Models) with 4 stages [21]. These stages consist of the
stage of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating [22]. The following is an explanation of the data
on the results of media development for each stage:
3.1. Defining stage
This defining stage includes facts and a set of needs in online learning at the junior high school
level. In the defining stage, it is divided into several steps. The more detailed explanation of the steps in the
defining stage is as follows:
3.1.1. Initial analysis
The preliminary analysis of this research is to find and determine the fundamental problems faced in
online learning. In this case, the assessment covers the problems faced by teachers and students during the
online learning process, so a solution is needed that is appropriate to the problems at hand. At the analysis
stage of this study, researchers made observations at SMPN 5 Kendari to obtain the necessary information.
Here are some of the results of classroom observations and interviews with the teacher:
a. Teachers and students did not have online learning guide books.
b. The application used for the online learning process is WhatsApp.
c. Teachers and students were not given rules during the implementation of online learning.
d. Presentation of material delivered by the teacher sometimes does not attract the attention of students.
The teacher explains the material through a virtual meeting. Then, do the tasks that are in the book.
e. Not all teachers used learning media during online learning.
f. The online learning process emphasized teacher-centered; that is, the teacher only explained through the
lecture method in class and gave assignments.
3.1.2. Student analysis
Student analysis aims to determine student characteristics in order to assist in the process of making
online learning guidebook. Because of one possible aim is to ask the instructor if they need to feel relaxed
and confident when the teacher approaches the students, it becomes very important for getting know the
students’ needs and characteristics. Based on the results of student observations, the characteristics of
students at SMPN (Junior High School) 5 Kendari are less active in online learning. Some students are not
enthusiastic about participating in online learning activities because of internet signal. This result was in line
with Bahri and Lestari [23], Yulia [24] that showed low of internet was the limitations during online learning.
Besides, the students do not focus on the material presented by the teacher. They prefer to look directly at the
teacher and friends during the learning process. Every 15 minutes, the teacher explains, students have started
to pay attention and are busy looking at each other's smartphones without being noticed by the teacher.
However, students tend to actively use gadgets in the form of smartphones or laptops to watch videos. From
this description, it can be said that students' interest in learning is still lacking, but if the teacher provides
learning media in the form of video, students still pay more attention.
Based on the description above, it is necessary to develop an online learning guide book. The
contents of this guidebook provide stages of online learning, as well as various alternative applications that
teachers can use to foster student interest in learning.
3.1.3. Concept analysis
Concept analysis identifies the main concepts in the guidebook, systematically arranges and details
the relevant concepts, and links each concept to other relevant concepts to form a complete guidebook.
3.1.4. Preparation of research instruments
The data collection instruments were in the form of teacher response questionnaires to manuals and
validation assessment sheets of media experts and language experts.
3.2. Designing stage
This stage is the stage of designing an initial draft to make online learning guidebook. At this stage,
the researcher designed a draft guidebook that contained the preparation, implementation, and assessment of
learning outcomes, the stages of operating the learning application, screenshot images of these stages, and the
advantages and disadvantages of the application. The manual is then validated by a media expert validator
and a linguist validator.

3.2.1. Application selection
The applications used in the product design of online learning guide books are selected based on
applications that are easy to use by teachers and students and are free to download. Besides, teachers
commonly use some of these applications, but not all features of this application are known to be used by
teachers. Some of them are still new to teachers, such as applications for making learning videos.
3.2.2. Early book design
a. Book size and material
The book uses A-4 paper, with a size of 10 cm x 13 cm. The book is made not too thick so that
young people are under everywhere. In the end, there is also the author's identity. Book material is made with
thicker paper than usual so that it is not easily torn and damaged.
b. Book covers
The book covers are made with attractive pictures according to online learning themes and
harmonious color compositions. The picture of the teacher teaching in front of the laptop, as well as the
image of the smartphone, is adjusted to the picture during online learning.
c. The contents of the book.
At this stage, the guidebook content is arranged. The book contents are obtained from various
sources, screenshots of the stages of using the application, and made into a guidebook. Some of the content
contained in the book includes preparation, implementation, and assessment of online learning outcomes,
virtual classes (Microsoft Office 365 and Google Classrooms), audio/video conferences (Zoom and Google
Meet), multimedia teaching materials (Screencast O Matic, and Canva), Social Media (WhatsApp, and
Instagram), Quiz or Test (Kahoot and Google Form).
3.3. Developing stage
The development stage consists of assessing the media expert validator and the linguist expert
validator, as well as the addition of learning applications. The validated draft and has gone through the
revision stage were presented to teachers at SMPN 5 Kendari as research. Furthermore, the teacher provides
suggestions for making online learning guide books.
3.3.1. Media expert validation
All draft manuals before being introduced and submitted to teachers in schools must first be
validated. Validation is carried out by media expert validators (lecturers). This validation aims to determine
the feasibility of the guidebook to be used. Table 1 is a description of the results of media validation.

Based on the table above, it can be concluded that the average category of media expert validation is
good. Notes from the media validation team, namely: this manual is designed to pay attention to the
principles of manual writing, how to write, the pictures are directly from the application screenshots, and the
use of simple language, thus motivating teachers and students to use them. One of the distinctive aspects of
this book is that it does not only contain stages but also includes colorful pictures. So that it gives the initial
impression to the reader that it is easy to read the book. A good initial impression will certainly generate
motivation to read and even learn.

3.3.2. Validation of language experts
Based on the Table 2, it can be concluded that the average linguist validation category is Very
Good. Note the linguist validator, namely: using the technique of approaching teachers' language and
students that are easier to understand. Teachers and students can understand the meaning contained in the
book.

After the validation stage, the researcher held outreach with several teachers at SMPN 5 Kendari to
introduce online learning guide books. Since this research was during the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers
and teachers still adhere to health protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining distance.
This outreach aims to introduce a draft online learning guide and ask teachers for suggestions and
comments regarding the draft book. After presenting the material and a question and answer session, the
teachers filled out a questionnaire via the given Google form link. The results of this socialization are
displayed in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Based on the Figure 1 and Figure 2, it can be concluded that 85% of teachers do not have online
learning guide books. Local governments and schools do not provide online learning manuals. During the
learning process, teachers are required to teach online from school. Most students study from home, while
students who do not have facilities such as smartphones and the internet can study at school. The teachers
send materials and assignments via the WhatsApp application. Figure 2 explains that 100% of teachers want
to have an online learning guide. Based on an interview with one of the teachers, a guidebook like the
researcher created is essential and useful for teachers and students in online learning. As professional
teachers, teachers need to take advantage of various kinds of learning applications that can help in teaching.
Besides that, the applications offered in the guidebook aim to attract students' attention to learn.
Figure 3 explains that 100% of teachers answered that the book material was presented attractively
so that the meaning's integrity was well preserved. The teachers also think that using the application and
accompanied by pictures is beneficial for learning to use the application. Illustration of material, both text
and images according to the reader's age development level and able to clarify the material/content. Figure 4
explains that 100% of teachers think that book illustrations to clarify the material do not contain negative
elements. The book does not contain elements of pornography, an ideology of extremism, radicalism, racial

violence, gender bias, and does not contain other storage values. So, this book deserves to be given to
schools. This book focuses on providing information on online learning guides.

Figure 5 explains that 100% of teachers think that the presentation of material in books can
stimulate critical, creative, and innovative thinking. This fosters a deep sense of curiosity for readers to learn.
Some of the learning applications offered in the book are new to them, such as Screencast O Matic, Canva,
Microsoft Office 365, and Kahoot. So, the teachers feel challenged to learn it. Figure 6 shows that 100% of
teachers think that the presentation of the material matches readers' needs for online learning. This can be
seen from this book's contents, which gives readers a choice to determine the application according to user
needs. For example, for a class that wants to have a virtual meeting, the book explains the Zoom application
and google meet. Likewise, another example, if the teacher wants to do an exam. In the book, teachers are
given the choice of using the Kahoot application and Google Form. If the teacher wants to make an exam
with educational game elements, Kahoot can be used. Besides, 100% of teachers think that book size, font
size, font selection, and material are in accordance with the age development level. This is very important so
that readers can easily read the book's contents and be interested in reading the book. Besides that, the book's
contents also clarify the message that is to be conveyed to the readers.

4. Disseminating stage
The disseminate stage is the dissemination stage and is the final stage of this research and
development stage. At this stage the researcher registers the guidebook ISBN to the publishing house.
Furthermore, the researcher disseminated it at SMPN 5 Kendari and followed by all junior high school in
Kendari City.
The paradigm shift (as for some) has pathways to provide a more versatile and individual approach,
concentrating on the learning process, and not the teaching portion. This enables students to train themselves
for citizenship and an open way for them to learn in their life, which inevitably requires new methods of
education and learning, by means of a more demand-focused approach and not the bid. In order to potentially
help and have the ability to promote better ways of coping with reporting issues, the implementation of
electronic technology will simultaneously personalize learning and increase a number of students.
Consequently, distance education (DE) is increasingly incorporated into the teaching/learning systems

regardless of their theory and purpose, and is regarded here as education funded by ICT, which means that it
is digital dependent on and theoretically not constrained by time and space.
We can classify DE as a structured education method, centered on a formal institution, in which a
study group must not be co-located and supports interactive systems of communication that link learners,
learning tools and facilitators. As such, DE is seen as a mechanism where student can acquire the information
needed to consolidate their own knowledge from different sources and alternative ways, in which the
assistant can help the individual learning process by choosing, arranging and guiding it – taking the active
and leadership role to the learner [26]. Therefore, the researcher thought that there should be a solution to
increase teaching/learning systems in digital and interactive communication where students can easily access
the material. The developed an online learning guidebook has become as a solution to provide better
knowledge for teachers and students to go through the teaching and learning process in this pandemic era.
4. CONCLUSION
The developed online learning guidebook has met the appropriate criteria in the media and language
aspects by the respective experts. Besides, teachers prove that this guidebook is very interesting and useful as
a guide in online learning, especially during the current pandemic. Furthermore, the developed guide book
fosters the curiosity of teachers to find out the use of applications in the book, and makes teachers think
creatively in making learning media.
