The document discusses reasons for choosing or not choosing various photographs for a school newsletter. It provides rationales for not using dark, blurry, or otherwise poorly composed images that do not effectively represent the school. Photos deemed unsuitable include ones that are too dark, disorienting, blurry, or include unwanted people. Better images are described as showing open spaces, pupils, modern facilities, and a variety representing the student body.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Analysis of images that i did and did not use
1. Libbi Bailey 12WM Media
I chose not to use this image because it is too dark and the angle it has
been taken at disorientates the hallway. Also the image is blurry which
makes it a bad quality photograph
I chose to not use this image on my newsletter because I found it
to be bland and didn’t show the school to be fun. It is boring as it
shows only one building and that isn’t the most colourful of
buildings. Also, someone’s head got into the shot.
I chose not to use this image, although it shows the interior of the school,
the image is blurry and would not be fit for use on my finished product.
Also, someone has got into the shot but it is too dark to see them which
make the image unappealing.
2. Libbi Bailey 12WM Media
I did not use this image because it was too dark and the
classroom I took it in looked messy therefore it did not
portray the school in the best light. Also, the room was empty
and did not have much colour in it which makes the class
rooms seem dull and this would not appeal to anyone if I did
put it onto my newsletter
3. Libbi Bailey 12WM Media
I chose to use this photograph because it is showing the
open spaces available in the school which emphasises
the school’s good points. Also, the picture shows pupils
within the school which can make the newsletter appeal
to the students themselves. This shows that the
newsletter is about real things that are happening within
the school.
I chose to use this shot because the angle it was taken at
makes the school seem modern and artistic, this is
emphasised through the design of that specific building.
This portrait shot shows one of the modern facilities on
the site which would promote the school.
I used this image on the front page because it shows two sixth-form
students in the school which can represent the age range
the newsletter is going to appeal to because they are not children
but they are not adults; they are the bridge between the two
ages. The photo shows one of the students expressing their love
for rock music showing that the school has a variety of students.
