Images with only one person or lacking clear school representation are less suitable as front cover photos.

1. I think that this image would be suitable for my magazine cover because of its high key lighting
and it shows that the school is catholic which is a good representation. It also shows part of the
school and isn't too busy. The only problem with this picture is that it may not be seen as a
school image. I used this image for the front cover of my magazine as I believe it was still
suitable.
This image could be suitable for the front cover of the magazine as it is a good setting shot in
high key lighting of the main entrance of the school. It shows two pupils which give a
representation of the school. You can see the name of the school in the background as well
which instantly gives the reader the idea about the school.

2. This is a mid shot of a student playing football. He is
wearing the school PE kit which represents the school
as one which is sporty and has extra curricular
activities. This would be a good image for the front
cover as it represents the school well but it may imply
that the magazine is just about sport.
This picture shows that the school offers a wide range
of courses, it depicts a child during a cooking class. This
could be used on the front cover as the magazine can
be shown to parents considering sending their child to
the school and this will give immediate knowledge of
some of the more select courses that the school offers.
It does have its bad points as it may not show much
about the school.

3. This photo shows the the school not only has lessons
such as sport and cooking but also has a scientific so I
think that this picture would work in correlation with the
previous two. It also shows parents that the school has
children with a plethora of interests and skills.
This picture could also be used for the cover as it is a
good mid shot which represents the school through the
PE kit and has good lighting and there is not much
going on in the picture for it to be simple but effective.
Although it does have the problem of giving the
impression of a sports magazine not a school
magazine.

4. This would not be a good picture to use for the
magazine cover as people are facing away from the
camera and you cannot really see the uniforms so
does not give a direct link to the school. There is also
nothing to focus on in the image.
This image shows that the school not only offers a
range of different lessons to develop skills but that
they have the equipment to do so. It also shows the
student to be able to complete the work without the
aid of a teacher which implies good behaviour.

5. This could be a suitable image for the front cover as
it is not too busy but shows a pupil from the school.
It only has one person in the shot so it may not
directly link the picture to the school straight away.
It may also seem like it is giving the magazine a
theme about art but it is just about the school in
general.
This picture shows students from the
school, but it also shows the extra
curricular activities which occur within
the school, such as the talent show.
This is all represented in this picture
and may entice pupils at the school to
read about these events and want to
take part. The downside of this picture
is that there is no uniforms in this
picture so there is no direct correlation
to this picture and the school. So for
anyone outside the school such as
parents will not know the students in the
photo and may not think that the
magazine is about the school if this
picture is used for the front cover.
