             Kasabian

This image of Kasabian highlights their
             dominance within the music industry
which is highlighted in the low angle
shot of the band. The fact that the
lead singer is wearing a paler jacket
than the rest establishes his role
within the band. The low key lighting
highlights the shadows on their faces
to help give a more precise character
             and personality.

              Florence Welsh

High key lighting draws attention to
her unique style and bright hair
colour. The shot shows her covering
her face, suggesting she’s of a shy
character and implies that her music
is gentle and has a quite soft,
              delicate tone to it.

              Snoop Dogg

Low key lighting is highlighted in this
image of Snoop Dogg. His direct eye
              contact instigates a sense of
              dominance and rebellion which is
              symbolised and highlighted in the
main props of the image, the cigar.

                                                  Arctic Monkeys
This image of Arctic Monkeys is a
prime example of the rule of thirds as
there is something in every square of
the image. The sepia look reflects on
their genre and style of music and
makes them look quite dingy. Also,
the fact that the lead singer, Alex, is
stood tall and above the other band
members implies his role within the group.

             Beyonce

This image of Beyonce uses a lot of natural, high key
lighting suggesting dominance within the music
industry. Her direct eye contact shows she’s of a
determined character and her overall power in the
business. The sunlight is coming from behind her,
forming shadows which highlight certain assets of her
face and body, but especially her face. This makes her
eyes seem darker making the eye contact more
intense and direct. The image uses formal balance as
she is placed in the centre of the picture, almost
             giving it a symmetrical feel.

                            The XX
This image of The XX really highlights
what their music is about, love. This is
reflected in the use of red lighting
                            running through the photograph. The
use of dark, low key lighting is largely
used. Only showing their white, pale
faces, the lighting used gives the
image a strange and mysterious feel.

             Kanye West
Very high key lighting is used in this image of the rap and
hip hop artist, Kanye West. The use of formal balance is
also largely used, giving a symmetrical feel and forming
lack of dead space around the male protagonist. As well
as the high key lighting his clothing is very bright too,
especially in contrast to his skin which is highlighted from
the lighting itself, and his perfect white shirt. Also, the red
love heart on his chest helps symbolise his love for the
             industry and his music.

                                    2 Many DJ’s
This image of the DJ’s, 2 Many DJ’s is
very bright due to the use of high
                                    key lighting. The grey lighting
                                    around the two protagonists helps
the central view point go towards
them. There is also a lot of dead
space which contributes to our eyes
                                    looking at them.

                                    Kiss
This image of the legendary rock
band, Kiss uses a large amount of
                                    low key lighting which emphasis’s
                                    their band identity well as
                                    establishing the genre. Kiss are
renowned for wearing a lot of dark
clothing and the black and white
                                    image of the group definitely
highlights this. There is a lot of dead
space on the right hand side of the
                                    photograph enforcing the use of
                                    rule of thirds throughout.
