The association of public vocational colleges from the Basque Country is a non-profit organization composed of 23 vocational training centers in Bizkaia, Basque Country, Spain. The organization provides initial vocational education, continuing training, and programs for unemployed and at-risk workers through courses grouped into 23 professional families. The association also offers international mobility programs for both students and teachers.

Our colleges are focused on initial vocational
education and continuing training for workers
as well as educational and occupational sche-
mes for unemployed persons and workers
threatened with unemployment.

got the silver Q and 10 the gold Q during
the last five years. The formation is certified
according to the international standard
ISO 9001-2000 and EFQM international
system.

4. Training titles are grouped
into
23 professional families,
responding to the needs demanded
by
the production system
Within each occupational family includes a set of training
cycles with a modular organization of variable duration,
consisting of areas of theoretical and practical knowledge
based on various professional fields.
Usually, the duration of the education is two academic
years (2.000 hours), and they can be:
Intermediate-level Vocational Training diplomas
Level 2 qualification
Higher-level Vocational Training diplomas
Level 3 qualification

All training courses include a module
“Workplace Training”, which aims to
complete the acquisition of the profes-
sional skills of each title achieved at
school, with 400 hours of duration.
Workplace

project, according to the characteristics
of the field work activity training cycle,

We design and facilitate courses to improve the pro-
fessional skills of our professors in their fields, an
also, providing the immersion in new technologies,
expand their knowledge of Internet free tools to ge-
nerate new multimedia content and promote coope-
ration and co-creation between our centers.

Because of that, with other partners such as TKNIKA,
DFB, MEC,…We work for an effective use of the new
technologies and focus on the creativity in all his fields.
During the last years be have been promoting edu-
cational materials in order to help the professors in
their daily work.

10. mobility projects
STUDENTS
We have been working on different
international projects since 1993
During the last years we have developed Leonardo and recently
Erasmus projects focused on work placements in companies
abroad for a period of 12 weeks. Each year, IKASLAN and the
colleges that belong to the Association send more than 400
students to different countries in Europe; United Kingdom,
Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway,
Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, Denmark, Austria, Italy...

We encourage the knowledge of
good practices of other vocational
training systems
The experience in other countries and cultures gives us the
opportunity of knowing other teaching methods and working
practices, share knowledge. It provides a broader view of the
reality of our professional field.

11. Lines of action
We also receive each year students from different countries from
Europe for practical training in companies of the Basque Country.
One of the main targets of IKASLAN on working in this project, is to
put into contact our colleges with colleges from different countries
in Europe so they can get the opportunity to cooperate in different
international projects. At the same time we would like to contact
different organizations similar to ours to explore any possibilities
of collaboration in different fields that they consider interesting for
both partners.
We have done mobility of teachers and directors of our centres,
through Europe: Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, and so on.
