The document presents a study on reducing various types of noise in dental images using different filtering techniques, specifically focusing on salt and pepper noise, speckle noise, and Poisson noise. It proposes a novel iterative decision-based algorithm that replaces noisy pixel values effectively and evaluates its performance against median, finite impulse response (FIR), and Gaussian filters. Experimental results demonstrate that the median filter generally provides superior noise reduction capabilities across the evaluated noise types, as evidenced by PSNR, MSE, and SNR values.
