Fifty Fifty
Cool stunt performed in a German theater. They turned
the A/C to 8°C / 46°F to help simulate what it would be
like to live on the streets. They then showed a video of
homeless people on the street commenting on the cold
theatre experience. To them, 8°C / 46°F is cozy. The
people in the cinema are given blankets with a QR code
that people could scan to donate some money to keep
the homeless people warm.
4. Miss Representation
"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to
no single feminist nor to any one organization but to
the collective efforts of all who care about human
rights“. Gloria Steinem
Friday March 8th was International Women’s Day,
which marks a celebration of women and their right to
equality in every part of the world.
It acknowledges how far the feminist movement has
come and how far it has yet to travel.
In light of this, it is interesting to see how women are
portrayed in the media and in this case advertising.
It would be fair to say there have certainly been
improvements in the representation of women since...
5. Keep her where she belongs
Miss Representation
However, though we are well aware that sex sells, it is
worth questioning, exactly what does it sell and who
does it sell to.
The Miss Representation campaign has called out several
big brands for creating and releasing sexist ads which
represents women in the wrong way.
Miss Representation calls out big brands such as:
Hello Kitty, Dolce & Gabbana, Fiat, Victoria's Secret,
Mentos, Burger King, and even Barbie in an ad campaign
to eliminate sexism in media and advertising.
6. Bin your tie
Sol Beer
Hard days work calls for you to loosen your tie and live a
little! What better way to end your workweek then with
an ice-cold beer?
When going home after a hard week of work, Sol, a beer
brand, wanted to give the chance to prove the working
people that they’re still free spirits at heart. They gave
them the chance to bin their ties and by doing so they
could gain a free beer!
Pleasant surprise for these commuters in London.

7. “Real Beauty”
Dove
Keeping with the theme of feminism and
advertising, the much discussed issue of photo
shopping is likely to rear its head. The rapidly
increasing use of photoshop has often been blamed
for the rise in young girls developing eating disorders
amongst other issues with body image and self
esteem.
The people at Dove have been challenging this issue
for nearly a decade by insisting on the use of “Real
Women” in order to capture “Real Beauty”in their
advertising campaigns. In this video you can see that
they went straight to the source of the problem to
challenge the art directors, graphic designers and
photo retouchers responsible for manipulating images
so we no longer get to see the truth.
They encouraged "True Beauty" with a digital
activation that tricked retouchers into downloading a
"Beautify Action" that, instead of making their
pictures glow, made them return to normal again.
Copy was added onto the photo that told them to
embrace beauty the way it was.

8. #friskissthlm
Friskiss & Svettis
User generated advertising is becoming more and more
common place and brands are urging consumers to get
involved through their social media channels. This
example shows how a non-profit fitness club in
Stockholm, which is 100% owned by its members, used
Instagram to boost membership.
Aimed at promoting the club amongst target audience
online and offline, members were encouraged to take
photos of their experiences at the club, upload and
share them on Instagram using the designated
#friskissthlm hash tag. Not only did members share
their personal experiences, they formed part of and
contributed to Frisskiss & Svettis ad campaign around
Stockholm.
