LED Lighting โ Greater Efficient, Environmentally Friendly SolutionGet Deco
ย
With every new generation of technology comes big gains in terms of efficiency and lifespan. While homes and businesses have been lit with incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lights for several decades, LED lighting is quickly becoming the go-to solution for those looking to lower their energy costs and have less of a negative impact.
Trends in Green Kitchens and Green BuildingsDerek Satnik
ย
The green building industry is one of the hottest right now. Construction has always been a major contributor to the economy, and Canada is adding enough new buildings every year that over 1,000 kilotons of new emissions are added to the building sector's footprint - compounded every year. The same market in the US adds almost 10 times more. This is obviously a problem.
The Green Building sector is making a significant impact at reversing this trend. Mindscape's partners are leading the way: our latest projects are pursuing net-zero, cost effectively. LEED Platinum is not only affordable, but it's making money for the building owners. Green material costs are continually becoming more competitive as suppliers adapt to the requirements of green building programs. There are brighter days ahead.

Sulfur-Flow Batteries and Carbon Capturing Environmental TechnologiesGraham R. Taylor
ย
An experienced businessman and attorney, Graham R. Taylor is the owner of Marquis Advisory Group, LLC in San Francisco, California. Graham R. Taylor provides international business consulting services to many firms and invests in emerging technologies that positively impact society and the environment.
Interest in environmental technologies continues to rise due to the accelerating climate crisis and the consumption of nonrenewable resources faster than ever. Power is one of the primary limiting factors of why green technologies cannot provide energy permanently. This is because even wind and solar energy require benefic weather to function properly, and it canโt always be sunny or windy outside.
In the renewable energy industry, the California-based company Form Energy is exploring aqueous sulfur-flow batteries as a cost-effective replacement for lithium batteries, which cost approximately $200 per kilowatt-hour. The aqueous sulfur-flow batteries would cost about $1 to $10 per kilowatt-hour and can be produced easier as they are made from tar sands waste. Their development could assist California with achieving its goal of powering the state solely through renewable energies.
Another closely followed environmental solution is carbon capture and storage (CCS), which can benefit the environment in the long term by reducing greenhouse gas emissions that drive global climate change. These technologies separate carbon dioxide from the gases that industrial and electricity-generation processes produce. CCS facilities capture the carbon dioxide and transport it below ground for storage in geologic formations. This can help address one of this eraโs most dire environmental problems and improve the health of people and the planet.

Quest: How Lean & IPD contribute to Building Smart Energy CommunitiesMurray Guy
ย
By turning our communities into Smart Energy Communities, we can improve energy efficiency, cut costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Canada.
So what is a Smart Energy Community?
First, a Smart Energy Community integrates conventional energy networks. That means that the electricity, natural gas, district energy, and transportation fuel networks in a community are better coordinated to match energy needs with the most efficient energy source.
Second, a Smart Energy Community integrates land use, recognizing that poor land use decisions can equal a whole lot of energy waste.
Third, a Smart Energy Community harnesses local energy opportunities.
How Lean and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) help to achieve the 6 Principles for Smart Energy Communities
1. First Reduce Energy Requirements
2. Optimize Exergy
3. Manage Heat Capture
4. Reduce Waste
5. Renewable Energy
6. Energy Delivery Systems

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
ย
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
