Tea Time History
Tea time is more popular than ever in America today. Tea rooms are springing up everywhere. Fine
hotels are once again promoting their new services and with Americans choosing a healthier life
style, he late afternoon meal is much in style. Todays tea time is considerably different than during
the Victorian Era. Many people do not talk face to face with others anymore, instead using their
phone. Teatime also known as afternoon tea, Victorian tea, high tea, and five o clock tea, may be
one of the most delightful and informal affairs in the whole social round. In the play Pygmalion
by George Bernard Shaw, Shaw mentions how the importance of reputation can determine the tea
time experience. It may also be an unmitigated bore (Victoriana). The observance of tea time
originated amongst the wealthy class. Tea time was said to be created by Anna, the Seventh
Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840 (Victoriana). Anna used tea time as a break in the day
between lunch and dinner to quell the inevitable hunger pangs. The menu centered around small
cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets, and, of course, tea. Today people use tea time much
like in 1840. People use it to gather and have a break in the day to connect with family and friends.
However, nowadays there is technology to connect with others. Although tea time is quite popular,
most people gather and socialize today in a much different way. A common meeting place for
coffee, tea and snacks would be Starbucks, unlike in

Gendered Societal Expectations of Appearance and Their...
Gendered Societal Expectations of Appearance and Their Effects Upon the Individual
It has long been generally accepted that we as humans are influenced greatly by the things that
surround our everyday lives. These things can include friends, family, co workers, the media and
even society as a whole. The society in which people live can play a huge role in how they view
themselves and how they view others. Over the years researchers have come up with many
theories as to how and why society has such a large influence on people. Now a days there are
appearance prescriptions for everything in our society. It is not good to be too fat, but it is not good
to be too skinny either. The way a person looks, dresses and acts is a large ... Show more content on

This study suggests that body dissatisfaction may mediate the relationship between overweight and
depression (Chaiton, 2009). It goes on to suggest that the relationship found between obesity and
depression is differentiated by gender because of the difference in societal expectations placed on
women and men (Chaiton, 2009). The study concluded that females experience body
dissatisfaction almost solely when they believe they are overweight, whereas both males who
believe that they are under or overweight experience body dissatisfaction which can in all cases
lead to some level of depression (Chaiton, 2009).
As the aforementioned study showed societal expectations concerning appearance can, and often
do, affect men just as much as they do women (Chaiton, 2009). Our society pushes men to be big,
muscular and manly. To certain degree the more muscular a man is the more attractive he
generally is within society. A study from an international journal regarding social behavior and
personality concluded that the attractiveness of a man is more important in determining social
desirability than the age of the man in question (Perlini, 2001). Comparatively the results of these
two studies add up to say that the attractiveness of a man is one of the main factors in determining
societal desirability and one of the biggest factors in being attractive is being muscular or strong.
This puts a lot of pressure on males to be concerned

Communication Strengths And Weaknesses
Communication Strengths
Listens I like to believe that I listen to what my fellow colleagues and customers have to say. I
physically show that I am paying attention by giving them eye contact and I always ask questions if
I am confused about something they are telling me.
Open minded I do my best to take everyone s opinions into consideration when there is an issue so
that a solution can be made that everyone is content with.
Feedback I make it a point to express my opinion with my employees, which is usually a good
thing. I like to verbally tell my coworkers when they are doing a great job, as well as when they
need to work on certain aspects of their job. Doing so allows my workers know where they stand
and lets them know how they can improve themselves if need be.

I become frustrated and this prevents me from effectively completing other tasks and
communicating with others. I could reduce stress and the effects that it has on me by talking with
others about why I am stressed. As well, I could go for a walk or do something relaxing that
forces me to momentarily get away from the situation. There is no doubt that if I continue to stress
the way that I do it will inhibit me from being a productive worker, more importantly my body
will not be able to take it forever.
Patience I am not patient at all. I pretty much want something done before I even ask someone to
do it, yet I know that this is unrealistic. I need to work on this because most things cannot be done
immediately and this just results to me stressing, which is also bad. Being impatience prevents me
from effectively doing my job and I can work on being patient by reminding myself that everything
takes time and everyone works at their own pace. I could also find things to distract me so that I
am not focusing on the one aspect that is making me

Chinese American Transnationalism
This paper is a brief reaction to a scholarly article in Airriess Text entitled Chinese American
Transnational Migration and Connections. This article is located in chapter 11 of Airriess text
Contemporary Ethnic Geographies in America, on pages 263 through 283. The text begins by
explaining that transnationalism is a reinterpretation of immigration, and natural to Chinese
Americans from birth. The first mechanism of transnationalism is called an astronaut family, and it
means that family members reside in different countries across the world. Another common
mechanism of transnationalism is called parachute kids. This title is used to describe the situation

Modern Potentials And Applications Of Ferrofluids
Ferrofluids are nanoscopic shards of magnetic particles suspended in organic fluids or water. What
are the modern potentials and applications of ferrofluids? Ferrofluids have current applications in a
variety of fields and continue to have potentials for further advancements in others. With research
of the first ferrofluid in 1963 by Steven Papell with N.A.S.A., ferrofluids have been used to provide
advancements in the field of technology. In modern times, ferrofluids are used in speakers for their
relationship with magnetism and heat; as well ferrofluids are used in computer hard drives for their
unique magnetic fluidic properties. Additionally, ferrofluids have potentials in the field of bio
medical engineering, including: advancements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the bio medical industry, ferrofluids could improve M.R.I. image rendering and assist in
the treatment of cancer patients. M.R.I s use the intermediate magnetic relaxation periods of
organs, which is the amount of time it takes a tissue to react and equalize to a magnetic force, to
construct an image. These periods vary only slightly, thus creating dim and low resolution images;
but if one was to saturate an organ with an easily manipulated magnetic fluid, such as a ferrofluid,
one could see with great contrast the difference between native and foreign tissues. This usage
would allow examiners to better identify tumors or unhealthy organs. In like ideas, the
localizability of a portion of ferrofluid by a magnetic field, associated with the fact that any liquid
may be turned into a magnetic fluid, (Scherer Figueiredo Neto 725) can be used to manipulate
medication in a way to reduce side effects and increase the effectivity of the treatments. Researchers
believe this may be a way to reduce the enervating effects of chemotherapy, thus improving the
overall treatment. Ferrofluids would present in the medication, and doctors could use magnetic
influences to manipulate the location and longevity of the medication; along with this
manipulation, doctors could lower the dosage because they no longer have to take in to
consideration the dispersal of the medication throughout the body, simply the centralized

Differences Between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer...
Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same
fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other.
The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to
be more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a
larger browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web
functions into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing.
Internet explorer on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as
straightforward as Google Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ...

Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is
developed by Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes,
new features, or small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft.
Google Chrome on the other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source
WebKit code, and anyone who is able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a
forum (www.chromium.org) that Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the
browser can then be selected by Google, and placed into the newest version of Google Chrome.
To many people this makes Google Chrome a very desirable option because any bugs and
additional features can be fixed or added on almost immediately.
Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found
on the internet the security of both browsers still varies. Two of the standards used to measure
the security of the browsers include the Acid 3 test, and the ability of hackers to hack into
computers using the respective browser. Acid 3 measures the ability of the browser to render and
utilise the information presented on the web, so a rule of thumb, a higher Acid 3 score typically
suggests a better built browser that is able to handle security threats presented online. As of August
18, 2010, the Acid 3 test of the latest stable release of Google Chrome is 100/100, whilst the score

Public History

Introduction to Public History
Ever since public history emerged on college universities in the 1980s, historians have still had
difficulties defining the term. The National Council on Public History s definition of the term
stirred the debate even more. According to the National Council on Public History, public history
describes the many and diverse ways in which history is put to work in the world (NCPH 2016).
This definition helps the public understand that public history focuses around real world issues in
an applicable way. Public history is performed outside of the traditional research based college

An Ironic Reversal of Professional Perspective in Medical Ethics
The movie The Doctor captures the shortcomings of a mechanized health care industry. Dr. Jack
McKee is a gifted, however, arrogant, and self centered surgeon who cares little about the emotional

It also goes against the requirement of a medical committee member to promote education
regarding medical ethical matters and also to assess and provide patient care by demonstrating
a respect for patient rights. However, despite Dr. McKeen s callous attitude towards his patients,
I believe he would follow the principle of beneficence, a supporting theory about the value of
avoiding harm and helping others. Although he treated his patients in a lackadaisical manner, he
demonstrated his gifted surgical abilities with the ultimate goal to heal them. Even when he is
diagnosed with cancer and scheduled to receive radiation therapy, he s concerned about missing
his scheduled surgeries and continues to go to work despite his sickness. In the beginning of the
movie, Dr McKee was an egoist. Even though he performed the kind actions of operating on
people and saving their lives, he was only acting in his own interest. He didn t actually care
about the patients. On his way walking into a scheduled operation, he stated A surgeon s job is to
cut. Caring is all about time. I d rather cut straight, and care less. He believed he had a right to his
own interest, which was to do his job, and care only about his interests, which is exactly how
egoists think. Towards the end of the film, he turns into

What Are Your Current Debts?
Many people do not realize that their debts are what causes families to go to probate court to

Jointly owned assets can be a very challenging thing to deal with after someone dies. Any jointly
owned property with a spouse will be easy to figure out, since chances are that you ll want the
property to go to the other person. This includes your house, car, or land that you own.
Unfortunately, other items are much harder to divide when jointly owned. For example, a small
business that is owned by two people will have another owner to contend with. While the other
owner may feel like they deserve to inherit the other half of the company, you may have your own
thoughts on who you want to leave it for. Disputes like these will be settled in probate.
Be sure you get documentation for jointly owned assets that states how all owners agree for the
asset to be divided after someone s death. This will help avoid any disputes later on.

Anwar Sadat and the October War
Various people have made significant contribution in defining the world order. Such contributions
sometimes take extremist viewpoints that almost draw parallel lines between varying ideological
standpoints that have informed world politics for many years. One such person is Anwar Sadat, the
former president of Egypt. President Sadat took over after the demise of President Gamel Abdel
Nasser in the year 1970, and led Egypt for eleven years. He attempted to reclaim the Sinai
Peninsula which had been taken and claimed by Israel. Sadat s plan to take back Sinai from Israel
helped Egypt to redefine its power and prestige in the world and to initiate negotiations for a peace
treaty with Israel.
In the plan to take back the Sinai from Israel and also to reinstitute and reestablish unity amongst
the Arab nations, Sadat employed diplomatic persuasion at its best. Several months prior to the
1976 war, president Sadat spent most of his time creating ties with the Organization of African
Unity (OAU), and other summit talks. This plan proved successful as numerous African states, as
well as the OAU, supported Egypt and isolated Israel while the other summit conferences backed
Sadat s plan to attack Israel. With regards to other Arab States, Sadat did not have to employ much
effort or persuasion as most leaders of the nations were close to him. At this point, Sadat had
managed to reinstate the confidence of the Egyptian people, get rid of the Soviet Union, and yet
again isolate Israel.

The Ordinary Least Squares Technique
We will use principally the technique of OLS. Studenmund defines OLS as a regression esti mation
technique that calculates the ОІ^ so as to maximise the sum of the squared residuals. So this means
that it minimises the differences between the actual values of the variables and the estimated values
of them. What will interest us then is the ОІ coefficients. He interprets these ОІs as the change of
the dependent variable associated with a one unit increase in the inde pendent variable in question
holding the other independent variables in the equation constant. So a ОІ value of 0.07 would mean
that y changes by 7% for a one unit increase of x. These ОІs then will be the main basis of our
results. But we also have to have measures to see how well the equation explains the relationship
be tween the dependent variables and the independent variables. Studenmund focuses on two
techniques. The first is by analysing the R2. This captures how much of the variation of the
dependent variable is explained by the estimated regression equation. (Studenmund, p.47) The
value of R2 can be between 0 and 1 and the higher is the value the closer the estimated equation
fits the sample data. In fact a better measure of R2 is R bar squared as it takes into account the
degrees of freedom in the model. However, he notes that R bar squared alone is not enough to
explain the success of our model. There could be other factors so, it is an im portant estimate but
not in we can fully rely on. He also warns

My childhood memory of catapult bird hunting and fish spearing were rewinding simultaneously

the thrill of catching and then eating what you catch experiences that have made them memorable.
Those childhood adventures, however, are not comparable to the ghastly adventures of Mowgli

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Skin

apartheid era, in South Africa. Fabian directed a cast members Sophie Okonedo, Sam Neill, and
a host of other supporting actors to tell the fascinating story of Sandra Laing. The movie was

Psychodynamic Hypothesis In Social Work
Psychodynamic hypothesis, a hypothesis of identity started by Sigmund Freud (writing between
the 1890s and the 1930s), has a long and complex history in social work. The youthful calling s
want for a logical base, Mary Richmond s decision on a therapeutic model to survey and treat
customer issues, and the wide effect of Freud s thoughts on the pop culture, added to the most
noticeable part of psychodynamic thought in the hypothesis base of social work (Germain, 1970;
Greene and Ephross, 1991). The hypothesis supporting psychodynamic therapy began in and is
educated by psychoanalytic hypothesis. There are four noteworthy schools of psychoanalytic
hypothesis, each of which has affected psychodynamic therapy. The four schools are: Freudian, Ego
Psychology, Object Relations, and Self Psychology. Freudian brain science depends on the
hypotheses initially figured by Sigmund Freudin the early piece of this century and is some of the
time alluded to as the drive or auxiliary model. The substance of Freud s hypothesis is that sexual

arrangement of capacities that conservatives between the id and outer reality. Barrier components
are developments of the sense of self that work to limit torment and to keep up the mystic balance.

The Disabled And Mentally Disabled Youth Transitioning For...
Many physically and mentally disabled youth transitioning to adults experience improper health
care, usually as a result of socio economic status and/or misdiagnosis by medical professionals. As
these children grow to adulthood, the in depth healthcare they received before dwindles, if not
already, cuts off completely. The highest rates of this phenomenon are among the disabled children
of minorities. Predominantly due to the high rate of individuals having no insurance coverage,
along with other socio economic reasons such as low income, gender, and housing demographics.
Other disparities in individuals health are the improper treatment by healthcare providers and the
healthcare system. These inequalities leave many young people with disabilities stranded without
their fundamental needs for proper care. Disabilityaffects approximately 56.7 million or nearly 1 in

considered negligence. In the case with Mr. Benson in the Neighborhood Newspaper article, a

doctor amputated the wrong leg. The question is was the doctor negligent in his practice? Is the
amputationof the wrong leg considered to be malpractice on the doctor s part? This paper will

25). Unfortunately, the article regarding Mr. Benson s case did not give detail on whether or not
proper documentation had occurred. However, one can assume documentation was not done
properly as the wrong leg had been amputated. If proper documentation had been completed in Mr.
Benson s case, it is possible someone besides the surgeon may have caught the wrong leg was about
to be amputated. An example of proper documentation would be the consenting of the patient for
surgery. Mr. Benson had to have been consented for surgery, which means a doctor or a nurse
practioner would discussed with the patient which leg was to be amputated, signs and symptoms
of complications and what to expect after surgery. If there was any question once the patient was
in the operating room, which leg to amputate, anyone could have looked in the patient s chart to
see what Mr. Benson had been consented for. Documentation of the time out could have also
prevented Mr. Benson from having the wrong leg amputated. The reason being is, everyone
involved in the case would have stopped and made sure the right patient was in the operating room
and the right surgery was to be performed so it could be documented this act was completed. Not
only proper documentation could have prevented this horrible act but also the help of the nurses
could have prevented a mistake like this from happening.

fights before a new roman military force under the control Marcus Crassus was sent to deal with
the rebellious slave army. Eventually after long pursuits of battles, Spartacus was killed near the

Males are usually the heroes, the villains, and the parent figures in Disney movies. If men are
always the heroes, then women are always the ones who have to be rescued. Females in Disney
films lack the ability to save their own lives. The negative influence comes with males who play
the typical bad guy roles. Faherty explains that the prevalence of males in villainous roles
should be analyzed for its potential negative impact on children and their relationships with caring
male adults (19). Along with heroes and villains, males seem to dominate the parent figures as well.
In her book Deconstructing Disney, Eleanor Byrne explains the phenomena that the female
characters in most Disney movies typically exist as teenaged girls with no mother.
She points out that in the instance of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Ariel s mother
is never mentioned, neither is Belle s; in subsequent films, Princess Jasmine is motherless in
Aladdin, Pocahontas bonds with her father by grieving over her dead mother, and
Quasimodo s mother dies on the steps of Notre Dame in the opening sequence of The
Hunchback of Notre Dame (Byrne 66 67). All of these examples illustrate the presence of teenaged
girls who build relationships with their fathers but are left to grow without a mother.
Some critics argue that children do not learn the proper value of a mother from viewing Disney
movies such as these.

This furthers Lao Dao s feeling of estrangement toward a society he s apart of because he

that the lower classes of China do not feel significant to the progression of China because they
weren t given equal opportunity of education as the higher classes. Thus, this allows them to not

are being followed, and to continue to develop as a professional. I consider self reflection to be
strength of mine as I log each day, and analyze each part to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses.
From my log, I know what areas I need to work on and be conscientious of. As a student new to the
social workfield I find professional boundaries to be a great weakness of mine. I find myself in a
sort of gray area as a student intern, since I am not quite a social worker but I am more than a
student. This gray area creates a dynamic which makes setting boundaries and knowing my role
more difficult. I have not found myself in a serious ethical dilemma so far in my career. I would
identify this as my greatest weakness at this time because I have not had to walk through an
ethical dilemma and therefore am unsure how I would manage. I can be quite passionate, and
have strong morals and values which could pose problems for me down the road. I would find

him and the control of Harold on him. Willie let loose and became rebellious. He did not want to

what he should do next with Hilda. You right. I think about it and you right. Tonight I find Hilda

Buddhism, Hinduism, And Hinduism
Throughout human history, there have been thousands upon thousands of religions that have
started, ended, and are still being practiced today. Most of these religions are based off the belief
in a god, or have a moral code that they need to follow in order to appease their god or achieve
salvation in the afterlife. Three religions that will be highlighted here are Buddhism, Sikhism, and
Hinduism. In each of these three religions, they all share some religious tenets, or beliefs, that is
universally accepted amongst all religions around the world and throughout history. Some of these
tenets include the belief in a god or a Supreme Being. These religions also have similar moral
values and a code to live by. Finally, most of these religions... Show more content on

There are two different schools of thought in Buddhism, Theravada and Mahayana, which have
varying goals of life. They do, however, have a similar path to get to their ultimate goal in life.
Most of their path to get to a state of Nirvana, as the Theravada believes, comes through discipline.
Discipline comes from the Four Noble Truths, which also contains the eightfold path. The Four
Noble Truths are that there is suffering in the world, suffering in the world comes from desire,
desire and worldly attachments need to end for suffering to end, and there is a path to end suffering.
The eightfold path is actually the fourth noble truth. The eight practices include: right view or
understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, full effort, right
mindfulness, and meditation. This path is done to try to obtain wisdom and discipline on the way
to spiritual enlightenment. The enlightenment stage brings forth the next universal tenet, which is
the afterlife. The Buddhist school of Theravada believes in an afterlife called Nirvana, which
literally means blowing out or becoming extinguished. Nirvana is the liberation from the never
ending cycle of rebirth known as the samsara cycle where the believer becomes one with the
Supreme Being. Nirvana is similar to the afterlife in other religions in that once the believer reaches
this final destination, it is said to be a euphoric ending to the rebirth cycle. The third tenet that

The Theory Of Social Contract
Contractualism, in general, is whether or not an action is deemed right or wrong can be understood
in terms of contracts, and is furthered with the theory of social contract. Additionally,
contractualism can be distinguished from Hobbesian contractualism (also known as
contractarianism) and Kantian contractualism, whereby the former looks to contracts made by
individuals of a society for the sake of personal gain and benefit, while the latter sees to contracts
made by individuals of any given society that consider each other and themselves to be free and
equal members of State. The theory of the social contracthas existed for the longest time, it speaks
of an agreement (or agreements) made by the members of any society and community to give up
certain individual freedoms for the betterment of that society itself, i.e state protection and security.
Firstly in history, power was to reside in the country s monarch, as it was divinely ordained. Over
time, however, there was a need for more justification for where power over the state laid other
than just simply being divinely granted or ordained . Thus, during the SiГЁcle des LumiГЁres,
England a country that has for the longest time had a monarch in power (admittedly of which the
very same monarch still exists today) entered great political, administrative and constitutional
change where England was entering a transformation becoming a modern State. It was during the

Peacekeeping Of The United Nations Essay
Countless generations have idealized the thought of being able to live in a society without war.
With this ultimate goal many different ways of maintaining peace have been proposed or
attempted. This is known as peacekeeping . Peacekeeping attempts have been happening throughout
history. Peacekeeping is defined as the maintenance of international peace and security by the
deployment of military forces in a particular area ( Spagnol). This means the cooperation of
different nation states to complete missions or activities that will end in the result of lasting peace.
The main contributor to international peacekeepingis the United Nations. The United nations is an
international organization where the missions and work is guided by the proposing and principles
contained in the founding charter ( United Nations website). Despite the substantial amount of
peacekeeping the united nations does there are outside forces such an non governmental
organizations also known as NGOS that are peacekeeping forces as well. In retrospect
peacekeeping is a very complex concept and throughout history has had many successes but also
an overwhelming amount of failures. These failures have causes high amounts of criticism, and
have led many people to believe that peacekeeping in general has been a failure. Despite the
failures of peacekeeping some countries have been more involved than others. one of the largest
contributors to peacekeeping is Canada and has made peacekeeping a

The Berlin Conference Of 1885 Sought To Regulate European
The Berlin Conference of 1885 sought to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa and
was how the European powers avoided conflict between one another over African resources. This
meeting of European powers is referred to as the beginning of the scramble for Africa. No African
could have expected what was to come post 1855. The aggression and exploitation that followed,
described vividly in Heart of Darkness, has now adapted into more humane mechanisms due to
criticism against brutality in the nineteenth century. Today, the imperialism Africa
faces is hidden
behind government sanctions, lies about cooperation and reciprocal benefits instead of mass
killings. Although the degree of exploitation is similar, the manner in which China... Show more

The actions of Kurtz and other Europeans are extremely similar to actions taken today in regard to
their untamed greed. Like the Europeans, India and China have no consideration for the people
already inhabiting the area and are establishing complete dominance over Africa. However, in
current times, there is less blatant aggression and much of the invasive actions are hidden behind
false cooperation. Today, China attempts to lawfully purloin African resources with an extremely
self promotional strategy. The country aims to maintain access to Africa s sought after natural
resources, regardless of the detrimental consequences for Africa. Some argue that the increase in
exporting that China creates will help Africa s economy develop, however these specific resources
can hurt the economy long term. This is seen in examples such as Nigeria and Angola, Sub Saharan
Africa s two largest oil exporters. Oil and mining are not labor intensive industries, therefore while
these natural deposits may create impressive growth figures, they do not translate into widespread
job creation. In fact, an economy solely based upon large oil and mineral reserves distorts the local
currency. The prices of other exports then increase and it makes them hard to sell overseas, a
phenomenon labeled the Dutch disease. Without careful management, something China has not
provided, the oil and mineral revenue will

The Evolution Of Species Extinction
Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect
human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat
fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions.
The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in
the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter
species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and
threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low
precipitation rates, not only creates unsuitable external habitat conditions but also impose internal
changes in biological clock and physiological processes of the organisms, in additions to their life
history traits (Reynold et al. 2003, Price and Gittleman, 2007). This kind of changed scenario both
externally and internally, brings incompatibility in the organism to cope with fluctuating climatic
conditions, finally making the species as vulnerable and forcing into the process of extinction.
The process of species extinction accelerated with rapid human activities and in the current
scenario, many species are in the queue of extinction. We are losing our uncounted valuable
biodiversity, in a sense, we still don t have exact idea of how many species are surviving globally,
and we are losing them before we

Culture Is A Sum Of Different Human Activities
According to The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English Online, culture is [t]he customs,
arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group (
Culture ). Instead, according to E.B. Taylor, the first professional anthropologist, culture is that
complex whole which included knowledge, belief, arts, morals, law, custom, and any other
capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society ( qtd. in Scupin 42).
Both definitions imply that culture is a sum of different human activities. Both definitions imply that
culture is a sum of habitual activities transmitted from one individual to another through repetition
and patterns custom and habits. In addition, both definitions imply that culture affects human
behavior and social interaction belief, achievements, morals, law, social institution.
Nonetheless, the two definitions have different recipients of culture. The Oxford Pocket
Dictionary of Current English Online describes culture as a set of different human activities of a
particular nation, people, or other social group ( Culture ).Instead, for E.B. Taylor, culture is
acquired by man as a member of society (qtd. In Scupin 42).
While The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English Online defines culture as something related
to different social groups, people or nations and therefore consider the existence of multiple cultures
independent and yet connected to one another, Taylor defines culture as something

Essay about Marital Differences between India and the...
marriages that occur in India and the United States have several dramatic differences. Marriages
in India are based solely on parental decisions, whereas in the United States a marriage is based
on individualism. Who, why and how the spouse is chosen, is very different in both countries.
Most Americans date to discover who their future spouse is going to be, and they know the person
very well before marriage. In India, dating is not something that occurs. Most individuals in India
do not have any interaction with the bride or groom prior to their wedding day, therefore, they do
not personally know who they are marrying (Nanda 624). Though these differences exist, pros and
cons reflect on each of them. In India, most marriages are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Depending on the parents, qualifications can consist of areas such as age, physical features,
beliefs, occupation and much more. For example, in one situation, a sister and brother in law
invited correspondences from North Indian professionals only and preferred that the man be an
immigrant doctor who was between 26 29 years, for their relative. (Nanda 623). Sometimes the
bride and groom will meet one time for a brief conversation, but in most cases the bride and
groom s first appearance of each other is at their wedding (Nanda 624). However, some parents
are becoming more lenient in this area and allowing their son or daughter to meet at least one
time before making any final marital arrangements to see if the two individuals are in agreement
to get married to one another. This is not like a date in the United States where a couple goes out
to dinner and to a movie and hangs out. This is more like a formal meeting, chaperoned by a
guardian. It is sometimes classified as having tea together. As Americans, we probably think this
is an absurd way of getting married but those in India find arranged marriages by their parents
very satisfying and a better way to choose a spouse. Marriages in the United States are vastly
different from those in India. In the U.S., most marriages are based on individualism; parents do
not decide who their son or daughter is going to marry. In the United States, dating is one of the
ways that

Persuasive Essay On Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are becoming extinct on the Florida Gulf Coast. Sea turtles are dying because of
humanitarian problems, including garbage, plastics, lights and beach activities. Turtles are very
important to the ecosystem, because they monitor the sea grass, which they eat to make sure it

provides food for some (including turtles). Without seagrass the whole ecosystem would be out of

This system also, teaches children about recycling, and about marine debris. This solution would be
carried out by fundraising to get money to start the organization, keep fundraising throughout and

and debris when they are very young and hopefully remember and grow up with the fact that
because of our waste many animals are perishing. Most children remember things they were taught
very young like, raise your hand, don t talk when the teacher is talking although many kids in
middle school and high school, don t do this, they know they are suppose to. By teaching children
about recycling and the ocean/environment very young it will stick with them throughout their
lives. There aren t many counterclaims in this problem. One of the counterclaim is that no one
wants to feel responsible for or to take ownership of pollutant. The other counterclaim is that many
don t know about the turtle problem, so they don t care. My proposal is worth supporting because
it solves multiple problems. It doesn t just solve the problem about the sea turtles, but also it solves
all the marine life problems and the pollutant affecting

there are specific topics that are enormously mentioned in the actual reality. Some of those topics

1630s when King Charles decided to dissolve the Parliament of England, which did not left hope to
the citizens that the will of God will be enforced in England (25). With these events, the people

Another impression that Morgan says is related when he says they were painfully aware referring
to the people who left England, that leaving the country was very painful for them because they
knew that it was not probably the solution, but they need and have to do something because what
was going on in England was against their beliefs and that was wrong because people wanted to do
what God s will was.
However, after the people who have moved to Massachusetts there were thought challenges that
were going to be arisen for the residents and for John Winthrop. The first challenge was going to
be Roger Williams. The problem that Williams represented was that he was going against what
Winthrop believed was better for the community which was to not separate from each other. But,
this did not stop Williams, who is being described by Morgan as a charming, sweet tempered,
winning man, courageous, selfless, God intoxicated and stubborn the very soul of separatism
(108). The description that is being given to Williams is not completely positive because Morgan
finishes saying the very soul of separatism which was going to be the challenge for Winthrop
because this means that Williams was going away from

  • 3. Tea Time History Tea time is more popular than ever in America today. Tea rooms are springing up everywhere. Fine hotels are once again promoting their new services and with Americans choosing a healthier life style, he late afternoon meal is much in style. Todays tea time is considerably different than during the Victorian Era. Many people do not talk face to face with others anymore, instead using their phone. Teatime also known as afternoon tea, Victorian tea, high tea, and five o clock tea, may be one of the most delightful and informal affairs in the whole social round. In the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, Shaw mentions how the importance of reputation can determine the tea time experience. It may also be an unmitigated bore (Victoriana). The observance of tea time originated amongst the wealthy class. Tea time was said to be created by Anna, the Seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840 (Victoriana). Anna used tea time as a break in the day between lunch and dinner to quell the inevitable hunger pangs. The menu centered around small cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets, and, of course, tea. Today people use tea time much like in 1840. People use it to gather and have a break in the day to connect with family and friends. However, nowadays there is technology to connect with others. Although tea time is quite popular, most people gather and socialize today in a much different way. A common meeting place for coffee, tea and snacks would be Starbucks, unlike in ... Gendered Societal Expectations of Appearance and Their Effects Upon the Individual It has long been generally accepted that we as humans are influenced greatly by the things that surround our everyday lives. These things can include friends, family, co workers, the media and even society as a whole. The society in which people live can play a huge role in how they view themselves and how they view others. Over the years researchers have come up with many theories as to how and why society has such a large influence on people. Now a days there are appearance prescriptions for everything in our society. It is not good to be too fat, but it is not good to be too skinny either. The way a person looks, dresses and acts is a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This study suggests that body dissatisfaction may mediate the relationship between overweight and depression (Chaiton, 2009). It goes on to suggest that the relationship found between obesity and depression is differentiated by gender because of the difference in societal expectations placed on women and men (Chaiton, 2009). The study concluded that females experience body dissatisfaction almost solely when they believe they are overweight, whereas both males who believe that they are under or overweight experience body dissatisfaction which can in all cases lead to some level of depression (Chaiton, 2009). As the aforementioned study showed societal expectations concerning appearance can, and often do, affect men just as much as they do women (Chaiton, 2009). Our society pushes men to be big, muscular and manly. To certain degree the more muscular a man is the more attractive he generally is within society. A study from an international journal regarding social behavior and personality concluded that the attractiveness of a man is more important in determining social desirability than the age of the man in question (Perlini, 2001). Comparatively the results of these two studies add up to say that the attractiveness of a man is one of the main factors in determining societal desirability and one of the biggest factors in being attractive is being muscular or strong. This puts a lot of pressure on males to be concerned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I physically show that I am paying attention by giving them eye contact and I always ask questions if I am confused about something they are telling me. Open minded I do my best to take everyone s opinions into consideration when there is an issue so that a solution can be made that everyone is content with. Feedback I make it a point to express my opinion with my employees, which is usually a good thing. I become frustrated and this prevents me from effectively completing other tasks and communicating with others. There is no doubt that if I continue to stress the way that I do it will inhibit me from being a productive worker, more importantly my body will not be able to take it forever. Patience I am not patient at all. I pretty much want something done before I even ask someone to do it, yet I know that this is unrealistic. I need to work on this because most things cannot be done immediately and this just results to me stressing, which is also bad. M.R.I s use the intermediate magnetic relaxation periods of organs, which is the amount of time it takes a tissue to react and equalize to a magnetic force, to construct an image. These periods vary only slightly, thus creating dim and low resolution images; but if one was to saturate an organ with an easily manipulated magnetic fluid, such as a ferrofluid, one could see with great contrast the difference between native and foreign tissues. This usage would allow examiners to better identify tumors or unhealthy organs. Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other. The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to be more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a larger browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web functions into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing. Internet explorer on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as straightforward as Google Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is developed by Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes, new features, or small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft. Google Chrome on the other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source WebKit code, and anyone who is able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a forum (www.chromium.org) that Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the browser can then be selected by Google, and placed into the newest version of Google Chrome. To many people this makes Google Chrome a very desirable option because any bugs and additional features can be fixed or added on almost immediately. Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found on the internet the security of both browsers still varies. Two of the standards used to measure the security of the browsers include the Acid 3 test, and the ability of hackers to hack into computers using the respective browser. Acid 3 measures the ability of the browser to render and utilise the information presented on the web, so a rule of thumb, a higher Acid 3 score typically suggests a better built browser that is able to handle security threats presented online. As of August 18, 2010, the Acid 3 test of the latest stable release of Google Chrome is 100/100, whilst the score of Internet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such contributions sometimes take extremist viewpoints that almost draw parallel lines between varying ideological standpoints that have informed world politics for many years. One such person is Anwar Sadat, the former president of Egypt. President Sadat took over after the demise of President Gamel Abdel Nasser in the year 1970, and led Egypt for eleven years. He attempted to reclaim the Sinai Peninsula which had been taken and claimed by Israel. Sadat s plan to take back Sinai from Israel helped Egypt to redefine its power and prestige in the world and to initiate negotiations for a peace treaty with Israel. In the plan to take back the Sinai from Israel and also to reinstitute and reestablish unity amongst the Arab nations, Sadat employed diplomatic persuasion at its best. Several months prior to the 1976 war, president Sadat spent most of his time creating ties with the Organization of African Unity (OAU), and other summit talks. This plan proved successful as numerous African states, as well as the OAU, supported Egypt and isolated Israel while the other summit conferences backed Sadat s plan to attack Israel. With regards to other Arab States, Sadat did not have to employ much effort or persuasion as most leaders of the nations were close to him. At this point, Sadat had managed to reinstate the confidence of the Egyptian people, get rid of the Soviet Union, and yet again isolate Israel. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Ordinary Least Squares Technique We will use principally the technique of OLS. Studenmund defines OLS as a regression esti mation technique that calculates the ОІ^ so as to maximise the sum of the squared residuals. So this means that it minimises the differences between the actual values of the variables and the estimated values of them. What will interest us then is the ОІ coefficients. He interprets these ОІs as the change of the dependent variable associated with a one unit increase in the inde pendent variable in question holding the other independent variables in the equation constant. So a ОІ value of 0.07 would mean that y changes by 7% for a one unit increase of x. These ОІs then will be the main basis of our results. But we also have to have measures to see how well the equation explains the relationship be tween the dependent variables and the independent variables. Studenmund focuses on two techniques. The first is by analysing the R2. This captures how much of the variation of the dependent variable is explained by the estimated regression equation. (Studenmund, p.47) The value of R2 can be between 0 and 1 and the higher is the value the closer the estimated equation fits the sample data. In fact a better measure of R2 is R bar squared as it takes into account the degrees of freedom in the model. However, he notes that R bar squared alone is not enough to explain the success of our model. There could be other factors so, it is an im portant estimate but not in we can fully rely on. It traveled very slowly and and quickly became overheated. Because of this, the British decided to make a newer and better tank known as Big Willie (History 1). With its movies, television shows, songs, theme parks, toys, and fictional characters, Disney is the epitome of children s entertainment. Disney serves as one of the largest sources of entertainment to Americans, which is why it reigns as a commercial success and influence in our country. According to Henry Giroux, a popular critic of the Walt DisneyCompany, Disney s immense success also represents the power of the culture industries to mediate and influence almost every aspect of our lives (19). However, does Disney stand for pure and innocent entertainment, or does it carry alternative motives that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Males are usually the heroes, the villains, and the parent figures in Disney movies. If men are always the heroes, then women are always the ones who have to be rescued. Females in Disney films lack the ability to save their own lives. The negative influence comes with males who play the typical bad guy roles. Faherty explains that the prevalence of males in villainous roles should be analyzed for its potential negative impact on children and their relationships with caring male adults (19). Along with heroes and villains, males seem to dominate the parent figures as well. In her book Deconstructing Disney, Eleanor Byrne explains the phenomena that the female characters in most Disney movies typically exist as teenaged girls with no mother. She points out that in the instance of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Ariel s mother is never mentioned, neither is Belle s; in subsequent films, Princess Jasmine is motherless in Aladdin, Pocahontas bonds with her father by grieving over her dead mother, and Quasimodo s mother dies on the steps of Notre Dame in the opening sequence of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Byrne 66 67). All of these examples illustrate the presence of teenaged girls who build relationships with their fathers but are left to grow without a mother. Some critics argue that children do not learn the proper value of a mother from viewing Disney movies such as these. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Hao is emphasizing that the lower classes of China do not feel significant to the progression of China because they weren t given equal opportunity of education as the higher classes. Thus, this allows them to not feel united with the rest of China. I agree with Dr. Hao s stance on education inequality because it sheds light on the complex problem of the detachment of citizens within a society which I believe to be true. Dr. Hao uses storytelling in Folding Beijing to illuminate segregation of jobs and power that comes with those jobs between classes and alludes to China s job and power inequality today; the division amongst the jobs creates an emotional chasm, a feeling of disconnect, with other classes. Towards the end of the novelette, Dr. Hao introduces a silver haired man that lives in First Space. He, the most imperative person in Beijing, has power over everyone administratively in First, Second, and Third Space, but his decisions regarding the Change affect Second and Third Space significantly more. These ten competencies help social work students learn and integrate the NASW Code of Ethics into the classroom and field. The first competency based on identifying as a professional social worker requires constant self reflection to ensure the NASW Code of Ethics are being followed, and to continue to develop as a professional. I consider self reflection to be strength of mine as I log each day, and analyze each part to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. From my log, I know what areas I need to work on and be conscientious of. As a student new to the social workfield I find professional boundaries to be a great weakness of mine. I find myself in a sort of gray area as a student intern, since I am not quite a social worker but I am more than a student. This gray area creates a dynamic which makes setting boundaries and knowing my role more difficult. I have not found myself in a serious ethical dilemma so far in my career. I would identify this as my greatest weakness at this time because I have not had to walk through an ethical dilemma and therefore am unsure how I would manage. I can be quite passionate, and have strong morals and values which could pose problems for me down the road. • 47. The Evolution Of Species Extinction Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions. The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low precipitation rates, not only creates unsuitable external habitat conditions but also impose internal changes in biological clock and physiological processes of the organisms, in additions to their life history traits (Reynold et al. 2003, Price and Gittleman, 2007). This kind of changed scenario both externally and internally, brings incompatibility in the organism to cope with fluctuating climatic conditions, finally making the species as vulnerable and forcing into the process of extinction. The process of species extinction accelerated with rapid human activities and in the current scenario, many species are in the queue of extinction.
