Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the intelligence exhibited by machines or software. It is an
academic field of study which studies the goal of creating intelligence. Major AI
researchers and textbooks define this field as "the study and design of intelligent agents",
where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions
that maximize its chances of success. John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1955,defines
it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines".
The Automotive industry is the key driver of any growing economy. A sound transportation
system plays a pivotal role in a country’s rapid economic and industrial development. The
automobile industry comprises automobile and auto component sectors. It includes
passenger cars; light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles; multi-utility vehicles such as
jeeps, scooters, motorcycles, three-wheelers and tractors; and auto components like
engine parts, drive and transmission parts, suspension and braking parts, and electrical,
body and chassis parts. Major Indian players in this sector include Tata, Mahindra,
Daewoo Motor India, Hyundai Motors India and General Motors India, Maruti, Ashok
Leyland, Bajaj, Hero Honda, Ford, Fiat and few other players.
A Microcontroller is an integrated circuit or a chip with a processor and
other support devices like program memory, data memory, I/O ports,
serial communication interface etc integrated together. 8051 is the most
popular and widely use microcontroller. So, many engineering students
show lot of interest in doing the Microcontroller projects.
Main concept behind Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based
Security system is to allow the access only to authorized persons . RFid
card has to be shown in front of the RFid reader, then the access is
allowed or denied to the respective person / RFid card.
• A robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by
computer and electronic programming. Robots can be autonomous,
semi-autonomous or remotely controlled

engineering projects with GSM modem
Ultrasonic sensors are ideally suited to accurate, automatic distance measurement in
normal and difficult environments. Ultrasonic sensors are particularly suitable for
environments where optical sensors are unusable such as smoke, dust and similar.
Ultrasonic sensors are very accurate, stable and can be used over large ranges.
Ultrasonic sensors can measure the following parameters without contacting the
medium to be measured • Distance • Level • Diameter • Presence • Position

unusual materials. Measurements are unaffected by: • Material • Surface • Light •
Dust • Mist and Vapor ULTRA-4 or ultrasonic distance measure robot is a robot which
perform many action such as it gives the actual position of wall or obstacle which
comes in front of it, measures the distance which displayed by 7-segment and also
show the moving images of the objects by camera
• ZigBee is a specification for a suite of high level communication protocols
using small, low power digital radios based on an IEEE standard for
personal are networks. Applications include wireless light switches,
electrical meters with in-home-displays and other consumer & industrial
equipment that requires short range wireless transfer of data. ZigBee is
targeted at Radio Frequency (RF) applications that require a low data
rate, long battery life and secure networking.

system that continuously monitors the state of input devices and makes decisions
based upon a custom program to control the state of output devices.
• Almost any production line, machine function, or process can be greatly
enhanced using this type of control system. However, the biggest benefit in using
a PLC is the ability to change and replicate the operation or process while
collecting and communicating vital information.
• Another advantage of a PLC system is that it is modular. That is, you can mix and
match the types of Input and Output devices to best suit your application.
• An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function within a
larger mechanical or electrical system, often with real-time
computing constraints. It is embedded as part of a complete device often
including hardware and mechanical parts. Embedded systems control many
devices in common use today.

statistically analyzing biological data. In information
technology, biometrics usually refers to technologies for
measuring and analyzing human body characteristics such as
fingerprints, eye retinas and irises, voice patterns, facial
patterns, and hand measurements, especially for
authentication purposes..
• Near field communication (NFC) is a short-range high
frequency wireless communication technology that enables
the exchange of data between devices over about a 10 cm
distance. NFC is an upgrade of the existing proximity card
standard (RFID) that combines the interface of a smartcard
and a reader into a single device.
Long-time strength in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing techniques
(CAD/CAM), studies in this area expand the scope of digital fabrication by
engaging the use of industrial robots for fabrication. This next generation of
fabrication techniques open up new opportunities for design speculation as well
as for addressing building performance. Inherently interdisciplinary as a field of
research and study, digital design and modeling is considered as an abstraction
of making. Work in computation is augmented by studies of materials and
questions of assembly, both of which feed into the actual computer-controlled
fabrication process itself. Studies look both at the digital craft of parametric and
scripted design processes for digital and robotic fabrication
A smart grid is a modernized electrical grid that uses analogue or digital
information and communications technology to gather and act on information,
such as information about the behaviors of suppliers and consumers, in an
automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and
sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity. Smart grid policy
is organized in Europe as Smart Grid European Technology Platform. Roll-out of
smart grid technology also implies a fundamental re-engineering of the
electricity services industry, although typical usage of the term is focused on
the technical infrastructure.
We know that electrical projects are used in many cases in our real life and
they require more power when compared with electronics projects. Electrical
project circuits use only passive components like capacitors, inductors,
resistors, etc. As a result, many people like to get an idea about how
electrical projects work and which projects may come under this category.
For those people, here we are providing a list of top electrical projects ideas.
These project ideas will be more helpful for engineering students also as
many of them are showing lot of interest towards these electrical projects.
All these projects ideas are collected from different resources
• SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a type of industrial
control system (ICS). Industrial control systems are computer controlled
systems that monitor and control industrial processes that exist in the
physical world. SCADA systems historically distinguish themselves from other
ICS systems by being large scale processes that can include multiple sites,
and large distances.
• SCADA is a way to connect different industrial devices to a common
communication system and post-process as well as visualize the data to
operating personnel.
• Machine to Machine (M2M) refers to technologies that allow both wireless
and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same type.
M2M is a broad term as it does not pinpoint specific wireless or wired
networking, information and communications technology. This broad term is
particularly used by business executives. M2M is considered an integral part
of the Internet of Things (IoT) and brings several benefits to industry and
business in general as it has a wide range of applications such as industrial
automation, logistics, Smart Grid, Smart Cities, health, defence etc. mostly
for monitoring but also for control purposes.
• The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of uniquely identifiable embedded
computing devices within the existing Internet infrastructure. Typically, IoT is
expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes
beyond machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and covers a variety of
protocols, domains, and applications. The interconnection of these embedded devices
(including smart objects), is expected to usher in automation in nearly all fields, while
also enabling advanced applications like a Smart Grid.
• Things, in the IoT, can refer to a wide variety of devices such as heart monitoring
implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, automobiles with built-in sensors, or
field operation devices that assist fire-fighters in search and rescue. Current market

• Mechatronics is a design process that includes a combination of mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, control
engineering and computer engineering. Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field
of engineering, that is to say, it rejects splitting engineering into separate
disciplines. Originally, mechatronics just included the combination of mechanics
and electronics, hence the word is a combination of mechanics and electronics;
however, as technical systems have become more and more complex the word
has been broadened to include more technical areas.
• Optimal power flow (OPF) is considered for micro grids, with the
objective of minimizing either the power distribution losses, or, the cost
of power drawn from the substation and supplied by distributed
generation (DG) units, while effecting voltage regulation. The micro grid
is unbalanced, due to unequal loads in each phase and non-equilateral
conductor spacing’s on the distribution lines.
• QR code (Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (two-
dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. A barcode
is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which
it is attached. A QR code uses four standardized encoding to efficiently store data. The
QR Code system has become popular due to its fast readability and greater storage
capacity. Applications include product and Time tracking, item identification,
document management, general marketing, etc.
• A QR code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square grid on a
white background, which can be read by an imaging device (such as a camera) and
processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately
interpreted. The required data are then extracted from patterns present in both
horizontal and vertical components of the image.
• The web project is a bit like the canopy layer of a rainforest - a forest
dweller looking for information and people related to something they are
interested in (but have no immediate knowledge of) could pop their
heads above the canopy to find others interested in the same things from
around the rainforest, identify them, then drop back into the forest to
converse and meet in a local way.
Wi-Fi, also spelled Wifi or WiFi, is a local area wireless technology that
allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to the internet using
2.4 GHz UHF and 5 GHz SHF radio waves. The name is a trademark name,
and is a play on the audiophile term Hi-Fi. The Wi-Fi Alliance defines Wi-Fi as
any "wireless local area network (WLAN) products. However, since most
modern WLANs are based on these standards, the term "Wi-Fi" is used in
general English as a synonym for "WLAN". Only Wi-Fi products that complete
Wi-Fi Alliance interoperability certification testing successfully may use the
"Wi-Fi CERTIFIED" trademark
• An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is an information processing paradigm that is
inspired by the way biological nervous systems, such as the brain, process
information. The key element of this paradigm is the novel structure of the
information processing system. It is composed of a large number of highly
interconnected processing elements (neurones) working in unison to solve
specific problems. ANNs, like people, learn by example. An ANN is configured for
a specific application, such as pattern recognition or data classification, through
a learning process. Learning in biological systems involves adjustments to the
synaptic connections that exist between the neurons.
• 3G is shorthand for “3rd generation,” and refers to a networking
standard in cell phone technology that is capable of providing high-speed
data service to mobile devices. As 3G wireless networks became more
widespread, you could finally connect to and use the Internet at practical
speeds which far surpassed those of the previous generation of mobile
phone technology (called 1X).
• I one word : Fast! To be technical, 4G stands for “4th generation” mobile
data protocol. But as a growing band of 4G users will tell you, it’s all
about the speed
• A type of logic that recognizes more than simple true and false values.
With fuzzy logic, propositions can be represented with degrees of
truthfulness and falsehood. For example, the statement, today is sunny,
might be 100% true if there are no clouds, 80% true if there are a few
clouds, 50% true if it's hazy and 0% true if it rains all day.
• Fuzzy logic has proved to be particularly useful in expert system and
other artificial intelligence applications. It is also used in some spell
checkers to suggest a list of probable words to replace a misspelled one.
