2. My Simulation
My simulation is going to allow users to transform their appearance, using
digital clothing, by swiping left or right in front of a mirror, on the particular
piece of clothing that you wish to change, which appears as if you are
changing clothes in order to experiment with different outfits.
I have further adapted my idea into linking the mirror to online clothing
stores, such as New Look and River Island, so that users are able to see what
the clothes will look like on themselves before they buy and perhaps compose
an outfit, in which they can then purchase.
4. Research
Kinect for the Xbox One was a big influence on my idea as this is what made
my idea seem possible due to its accurate recognition of body movements
which is what I will be incorporating into my design of using hand movements
to select different items of clothing. Kinect enables users to interact with the
console instead of using a controller using motions and gestures which are
picked up by a built in webcam. Therefore, my mirror can use a similar
method to select through the different pieces of clothing.

6. Possible Technology for Simulation
• Unreal Engine:
Positives – Most realistic way to show exactly what happens with the mirror and how you
interact with it as you would be able to walk up to it and create hand movements to make
the clothes change and then you would visually be able to see what impact the hand
movements have on the mirror and how the mirror is controlled.
Negatives – A lot of coding involved and have had trouble in the past trying to create a
reflection in an object, which I didn't achieve, so am weary of this happening again.
• Autodesk Maya:
Positives - A clear way of showing what effect the mirror has when stood in front of it as I
would create models of the mirror and a person standing in front of it and the reflection
would be the person but with different clothes on and just have a camera circle the scene
to show what is happening I could also include a computer screen with a clothing website
on it, showing the clothes that are being reflected in the mirror to show that the clothes
that she is ‘trying on’ have been imported off a clothing website. Clearly shows the
purpose of the mirror and external sources that can be used alongside it.
Negatives - Isn’t very clear as to how you would use it although I could show the model
character doing the hand movement to scroll through the clothes to help make it more
understandable.
7. Target Audience
Overall, I would say that my target audience is very open as many people from
different ages and genders will find this product useful and can easily be used
by anyone. However, I think that the most likely age group that will use this
are people aged 18-35 as I believe that this is the age group that tend to do
more clothes shopping and regularly use the Internet so are more likely to be
attracted to this product as it combines the two.
New Look have also aimed their website at people aged 16-35 which
is extremely close to what I have targeted which makes me more confident
that I am targeting the correct people.
Despite this anyone will still be able to use this as it is simple to use and will
be beneficial to everyone.
8. Schematic
A simplistic schematic that shows they key components involved, how they
will be connected together and whether they are inputs, outputs or both.
