Most organizations have completed application planning for private cloud and cloud strategy development for both private and hybrid cloud. Design and testing usually take the longest for cloud deployments, while procurement and deployment may take weeks or months. Most organizations use a modular approach that integrates with multiple vendors. Factors like scalability and increased efficiencies are most achieved with cloud deployments.

together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models.

• When it comes to private cloud deployments, three-quarters of respondents have
completed application planning and with respect to both private and hybrid cloud, over
two-thirds have developed a cloud strategy.
• Just 14% have completed the convergence stage for private cloud deployments.
• During the largest cloud deployment, design is the stage that usually takes the longest
amount of time (months) while procurement, deployment, and testing may take either
weeks or months.
• Most organizations take the cloud deployment approach that includes modular platform
building blocks that can integrate with multiple vendors.
• Integrated solutions from a single vendor are used by 39% of organizations.
• Three out of five respondents report their organizations are extremely/very successful at
avoiding vendor lock-in.
• Three quarters of organizations feel they are extremely/very successful at ensuring the
security of the private and/or hybrid cloud environments.
• Top factors most achieved with cloud deployments are improved ability to scale up or
down to accommodate business needs as well as increase IT efficiencies.
• Enabling self-service provisioning is the factor least likely to be achieved with cloud
