Ideas Academy is a secondary-level learning center for underprivileged youth in Malaysia.
We welcome students aged 12-18 years irrespective of nationality, religion and cultural
background. The education IDEAS Academy provides is focused on personal development,
which allows for excellence, creative and cultural enrichment.
Ideas Academy Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between IDEAS, an independent Malaysian think
tank, and Stichting Young Refugee Cause, based in The Hague, The Netherlands.
This is an exciting post that will present many challenges and requires hard work, but at the
same time will bring true satisfaction to the successful candidate, especially because the
achievements will have a direct contribution to changing the lives of the people that we
help through our work.
The job scope includes (but is not limited to):
Fundraising
• Plan, manage and lead fundraising activities to achieve fundraising targets
• Develop and lead new initiatives including major donors, legacies, regular giving
• Lead prospect research for national and international donors and foundations
• Handle relationship management, grant writing and reporting
• Grow income and improve the sustainability of the organization by proactively securing
funds from new income streams
• Identify opportunities for, and plan new, fundraising events and coordinate the
implementation with the team
• Continuously improve the effectiveness of existing fundraising operations
• Contribute to the drafting of funding applications by others
• Oversee the maintenance of necessary systems to support fundraising in conjunction
with the Finance team
2. Stakeholder Management
• Maintain an efficient and accurate fundraising database
• Build on existing relationships with donors and funders, ensuring they receive regular
updates of our activities
• Hold donor events to keep them updated and engaged with our work
Overall
• Develop and implement operational plan for the position, ensuring alignment with
IDEAS’ mission and priorities
• Build and strengthen the stakeholder network
• Ensure all the relevant policies and procedures are observed
• Undertake any other duties as may be prescribed by superiors.
• Manage the budget of selected projects, ensuring compliance with funder requirements,
IDEAS’ financial procedures, and legal obligations
Candidates should have:
• At least 3 year relevant experience in fundraising and grant-writing
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken
• Good presentation skill
• Good networking skill
• Good event-organizing skill
• Evidence of ability to work independently in a target-driven environment
• Great attention to detail, especially when drafting documents
