This paper provides an overview of the status of Open Education and Open Science for our global society in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic: It presents practices and uses cases from 12 countries and global regions on the challenges for formal education during the COVID-19 outbreak. Their analysis and comparison present insights about the developed strategies and implemented practices in the different regions worldwide. Sessions cover new developments in open education, research results, innovative technology, policy development and implementation, and practical solutions to challenges facing education around the world.
This document discusses the leadership styles needed during the COVID era. It describes an "edupreneurial leader" who can scan internal and external environments, diagnose personnel, and utilize flexible leadership styles. Leaders may adopt entrepreneurial and pedagogical styles depending on their personality, education, experience, and the success and risks of their organization. As environments become more uncertain, an edupreneurial approach of doing more with less and improving outcomes by aligning internal and external factors is needed. There is no single best leadership style; the optimal mix depends on situational context. The search continues for the right leadership cocktail.

This document summarizes a study on shifting educator perspectives and practices through an online professional development course on open educational resources (OER) at the Open University of Sri Lanka. The course aimed to build educators' capacity to reuse, revise and remix OER for innovative learning experiences. Survey results found the course increased educators' understanding of OER concepts and skills in identifying, evaluating and integrating OER. Factors like course design and peer support facilitated learning, while time constraints hindered it. Impacts included changes in mindsets and practices regarding OER adoption. The study concluded the course significantly impacted educators' abilities to engage in OER-based e-learning.

This presentation is about trends in ODL in an African perspective. Education and learning is probably that single thing that has the greatest impact on humans and societies, in particular in a long term perspective.
Higher education is increasing more rapid than ever, and Africa is a hot spot for future HE. Africa is lagging compared with richer parts of the world, but is catching up faster than many would have believed. However, better integration between education and economic value chains has to be more in focus.
For the post 2015 education agenda Quality Open Education Resources and ODL can make dreams come through. In fact, without OER and ODL, dreams about quality education for all might end up as wishful thinking.
Not all that shines is gold, and the MOOC hype has been replaced by a good portion scepticism in particular regarding target groups, lack of student success and learning outcomes. However, the driving forces for open knowledge are so strong that we again and again will se waves of innovations riding on online learning and mobile broadband, where Africa will through time will catch up and close the digital gap.
Teachers and teachers trainers is the key to educational success for Africa, and competencies and capability to provide quality ODL will be in the core. "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”, an old African proverb says. And ICDE is prepared to go far together with ACDE.

This speech will after a brief introduction of ICDE, give a rough picture on how South Africa is seen from the outside – through a number of indicators, then I will outline those trends that ICDE observes as important for educational development, in particular higher education, the next years. Next will be to summarize how the new SDGs address education as a priority for achieving the future we want, including indicating state of play, based on the recent Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report by UNESCO. Quality education is a key for Education 2030 – and initiatives relevant for higher education that will be rolled out by UNESCO and ICDE will be discussed. land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning

11. The Future of Work to 2030 - Conclusions
None of us can know with any certainty what the world will look like in 2030,
but it’s very likely that facets of the Four Worlds will feature in some way and
at some time. Some sectors and individuals are already displaying elements of
the Blue and Green Worlds; the Yellow and Red Worlds are more radical, but
no less plausible.
Those organisations and individuals that understand potential futures, and
what each might mean for them, and plan ahead, will be the best prepared to
succeed.” (PWC. p.38).

13. •Advocacy is on OER.
•Applications for a membership in the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee can be made by an expert ICDE member that
has a record and capacity to contribute to significant advocacy for OER.
•Members are appointed as ICDE OER Ambassadors by the ICDE Executive Committee.
•When appropriate, members of the committee should seek collaboration with OER Chairs and relevant
stakeholders to achieve synergy in OER advocacy.
•The ICDE OER Ambassador is not a funded position, but awarding it provides extra profile to the holder, expressing
ICDE’s interest in his/her voice on OER, underlining his/her reputation.
•ICDE OER Ambassadors are bound to establish a network among themselves in which they and their teams
collaborate, and to which experts in the subject area from other institutions may be admitted.
•ICDE OER Ambassadors are expected to jointly and individually plan OER advocacy actions.
•When invited and if possible, Ambassadors should be prepared to play a role at e.g. ICDE World Conferences,
Leadership Summits, Regional Conferences, Expert Seminars or other events relevant for the purpose.
•The Chair for the ICDE OAC suggests its activities and progress in collaboration with the ICDE Secretariat. The
ICDE OER Ambassadors have an independent position and will inform ICDE of their activities through a light-version
annual report.
