I had a heartwarming experience this past summer at a Bible camp where I volunteer as a
counselor. It was my first year volunteering and I wanted all my campers to have a great time

Reason 1: Having a pet will help kids learn responsibility.
Evidence: Kids will have to clean, feed, water, and shelter their pets.

The Movie The Golden Eagle
The moment did become better. South of us, soaring high in the sky appeared an eagle. Not a
bald eagle, but perhaps a golden and it appeared to be closing in on our location as it dropped in
altitude. Mesmerized, eyes locked in on the free bird, it ensued on a flight pattern directly at our
position. The closer it moved in, the swifter it soared. Suddenly, the realization set in that it was
too late to lunge for a camera. The bird rapidly appeared in such proximity the details of the
underside wings were sharply in focus. Holly claims the bird s flight pattern locked in on her,
and I believe her. For a brief moment, an uncomfortable feeling besieged me as I couldn t
understand the bird s intentions of being that close in flight. An actual goose bump or two
appeared while a mild chill jettisoned down my back. It was captivating and eerie at the same
time. The golden eagle flew directly over Holly swooshing past and soaring out over the ravine.
If either Holly or I had hastily searched for a camera, we would have missed the amazing display
of soaring free. As with Tim, Holly and I would also have missed the spectacle if we d chosen to
pursue the glacier. Locating Tim against the blended landscape became easier as he neared our
location. Only a few minutes out, I developed an eagerness to hear a report of what he d seen, and
to what distance he managed to the glacier. His return marked a 45 minute absence and he
mentioned the ice still remained roughly an hour from his reach.

Investigating the Relationship Between Superstious Belief...
In times of uncontrollability, there is evidence to suggest that individuals tend to invoke
superstious beliefs. Anecdotal evidence has also suggested that highly superstitious people believe
that they have a level of control over situations where they objectively have none. For example,
some people have lucky charms that they believe allow for a greater sense of perceived control of
external factors.
Locus of control has often been used to explain the relationship of perceived control and
superstious belief and has been dichotomized as internal or external (Rotter, 1966). Whereas an
internal locus of control is inherent of the belief that all events are due to internal dispositions, an
external locus of control believes that events are a result of other people, or chance/luck. This
concept is associated with the Learned helplessness explanation (Abramson et al., 1978; Maier
Seligman, 1976). What this explanation proposes is that participant s attribute the uncontrollability
of a situation to internal dispositions i.e., they display an internal locus of control, and, by
extension, denote failure as a result of not having any control over the situation. Contrastingly,
individuals who don t succumb to the learned helplessness effect are those who place failure

Hypothesis: If a polar amino acid is adsorbed by a polar matrix, then the polar matrix will not move
as far along the matrix as a hydrophobic amino acid. If this is so, the Rf value of a polar amino acid
will be relatively small to that of a non polar amino acid.
Introduction: In order to identify whether an amino acid is polar (hydrophilic) or non polar
(hydrophobic), the process of chromatography is used, which separates the amino acids and
identifies them based on specific chemical traits given by the R groups. The process is preformed
by placing spots of the sample(s) on the origin of a matrix, or chromatography paper, letting it dry,
then placing the edge of the paper with the samples on it into a solvent (in this lab, it was alcohol).

Many people show examples of breaking past the point of doing well to get to a place where
they are extremely successful. One example of this would be Steve Jobs, he could ve settled
after the Macintosh was successful and taken his profit and been done. Instead, Steve actually
did the opposite and he strove to make a fortune off his ideas because he knew they were worth
something. He continued to create new ideas and devices that people went fanatic over, and he
succeeded. All of it happened because he went beyond just mastering one thing. He expanded his
thoughts into a greater idea that absolutely benefited him in the long run. In my personal
experiences, I have learned that pushing myself caused me great achievements, academically as

Abstract
Surface roughness has become the most significant functional requirement and it is an index of the
product quality. In order to increase the efficiency of hard to machine alloys like titanium and nickel
alloys, an Electro Chemical Honing (ECH) process has been employed to achieve highest material
removal rate with the best surface qualities. This extended abstract describes the design and
fabrication of an indigenously developed tooling setup for ECH of external cylindrical surfaces of
Titanium alloys (TI 6AL 4V) and also highlights the key process parameters and their affect on
ECH process. The influence of the machining parameters on the surface finish has been investigated
and optimized the process parameters for improving the surface roughness is also evaluated.
Percentage improvements in surface roughness values Ra and other parameters like electrolyte
temperature, composition and concentration were studied while changing the processing time (PT).
And also the study of surface characteristics of micro and macro level and micro hardness too
examined.

After reading Jackie and Me by Dan Gutman, I have learned that Joe Stoshack is a dynamic
character. At the beginning of the book, Joe is misbehaving; eventually, Joe becomes thoughtful,

dialogue, relationships, choices, and problems. In the first chapters I have learned that Joe was

The Sorrows of Young Werther was an extraordinary reading and eye opening experience because it
changed the world around me and help me value my life s potential. One of the points that really
affected me throughout this reading was the conversation about the ethics of suicide. Another point
that struck me was Charlotte talking about the moonlight. Some of the characters also affected
me as well like, the flower seeker and the peasant lad. My last point is whose fault is it for
Werthers demise I just have to touch on this because this is such an interesting point because a lot
of people have different views. The ending of the novel is a logical conclusion based on Goethe s
use of foreshadowing.
In the letter of May 22, Werther foreshadows to suicide, by saying the sweet feeling of the liberty,

My choice of the movie 12 Years a Slave is an outstanding depiction of the lives of slaves in the
1840 s. This film follows the gruesome life of Solomon Northup. A black man born free in
Saratoga, New York. Who was fooled, poisoned, and abducted by men who sold him into
slavery. The movie is based on the book called Twelve Years a Slave: Narrative of Solomon
Northup, a Citizen of New York, Kidnapped in Washington City in 1841, and Rescued in 1853,
From a Cotton Plantation Near the Red River, in Louisiana.
The accuracy of the film was spot on. It depicted all the horrors and history of slavery very well. In
fact Dr. Emily West, an associate professor of history at the University of Reading supports my
statement when she states I have never seen a film represent slavery so accurately. It portrayed
the difference of the masters by showing how one was kind to Northup and how the other was a

It opened up my eyes to the horrors and truths of how slaves were treated. I witnessed the
punishments received by the said Incompetent slaves, the terrible lifestyles of the salves, and the
embarrassing ways my ancestors acted. The way I look at slavery will forever be changed for film
has shown me the gruesome details of the lives of slaves in the 1840 s.
12 Years a Slave was an outstanding representation of the lives of a slave. It was accurate,
heartfelt, and detailed. It portrays the feelings of Solomon and the other slaves perfectly. The film
really makes you think about the people and the situation back in the 1840 s. It is an exceptional

The baseball field, (also sometimes referred to as the diamond), is a specially designed field
made of two basic parts; the infield and the outfield. The infield is where most of the action
happens. It is defined by four bases at each corner of the diamond shaped infield set into the
ground and evenly spaced apart. In Professional and high school leagues the bases are 90 feet
apart from each other. The infield is mainly made of dirt except for a lake of grass in the middle
with an island of dirt in the middle called the pitcher s mound. The pitcher s mound is 60.5 feet
from home plate in professional and high school level play. The batter stands at a special plate
called home plate where the pitch will be thrown to from the pitcher s mound. The hitter will
attempt to hit the ball with his bat and put the ball into play. There are chalk painted rectangles on
either side of home plate that defines where the batter stands. In which box the batter stands in
depends on if he/she is left handed or right handed. There is another painted box behind home plate
that defines where the catcher crouches to catch the ball if the batter misses.

rather than appointed would ensure that representatives are more responsive to the public. It
