Employing the SAMR model while teaching with iPads and mobile devices will soon have you and your students doing what was previously inconceivable in the classroom
Enhancing learning and teaching in FE - Kendal CollegeJisc
BIS have funded JISC Advance to manage 32 projects throughout 2012-13 focussing on four key areas:Innovative uses of technology, Improving the learner experience, Improving efficiencies and Making better use of existing resources. This session looks at the progress two of the projects have made, and how to get involved in using the outputs.

8 Examples of Transforming Lessons Through the SAMR ModelKelly Walsh
Explore Dr. Ruben Puentedura's SAMR Model through applied examples. “SAMR” is an acronym that stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. The SAMR model provides a technique for moving through degrees of technology adoption to find more meaningful uses of technology in teaching and move away from simply using “tech for tech’s sake”.

Responsive web design? What is it and how does it apply to eLearning? What can it look like? Check out examples of eLearning created in Adapt, an open-source responsive eLearning authoring framework.
True virtual reality requires total immersion in a fabricated world, which enables rich learner experiences. What technologies are becoming available to enhance simulation through biosyncing and what are the tradeoffs that come with being removed from the physical world? What are the goals, and what is viable today?

An overview of Kineo's responsive e-learning design approach for multiple devices. Shows how the web world is adapting to multiple devices and how e-learning needs to respond.
I came across the SAMR model as part of my studies and while it did seem like a great model to adopt, I realised that the peer reviewed literature I came across on it all seemed to cite Dr Ruben Puentedura's blog instead of a peer reviewed piece of literature by him.

Think about the most boring eLearning you've ever created. Could you have done something different? Explore some simple and low-cost ways to incorporate scenarios into your programs to add context and relevance. Presentation by Cammy Bean, presented on February 2, 2011 at ASTD's TechKnowledge conference in San Jose.
VR can be used to simulate scenarios right within the confines of the home or classroom and provide students with experiences that are otherwise too difficult to replicate.
Virtual Reality in education can be used to complement and enhance the traditional methods of learning from textbooks and lab experiments and fully engage all of the learner’s faculties.
VR also offers the scope to conduct scientific experiments which have physical or other constraints and cannot be replicated in real life. Examples include subject matter related to gravity, water displacement, anatomical and biological experiments etc.
My presentation from Information Development World, 2014. This presentation addresses the end to end customer experience, and our need to be, each one of us, 100% responsible for it. We can't afford to be siloed, with web sites and images that are not coherent and connected.
It also presents a methodology for dealing with this.
A brief history of eLearning as seen through the lens of my own personal experience. A look at current trends we're seeing that influence how we design and deliver online learning programs. Presented at ATD Tech Knowledge, January 14, 2016.

Educational technology has zero impact if it isn’t part of great pedagogy or enhancing the exploration and sharing of great content. By following Dr. Ruben Puentedura's SAMR model teachers can integrate technology with purpose and create amazing learning experiences for their learners.
Teach Talk: Devices are taking over the classroom - so what next?FrogEducation
The revolution has arrived. Mobile devices are in our classrooms, but after technical issues have been resolved, how do you actually use devices as a teaching resource? Hear how schools are using devices in the classroom to improve learning and increase student engagement.

The iPad has revolutionized the ways teachers deliver lectures, display whiteboard activities, deliver quizzes and polls and start group discussions.
This session will give you an overview of how the iPad is being used, around the world, in and out of the classroom. A list of iPad apps along with suggested training resources will also be made available at the end of the session.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
