THEME: SOCIAL ISSUE (DEALING WITH PLACE)
Sketch
Director: Camera roll! Lighting! Trees!! Screen one take one, action!
A boy waddles to the left of the stage and smiles.
Dustbin: Hello, everyone. I am a dustbin. See this. D.u.s.t.b.i.n. dustbin. (point to himself smugly) I
know you know me and I know all of you. You have seen me everywhere, aren’t you? Be it at the park,
at the school, I always be around. My function is really simple. I made the earth cleaner.
He sighs sadly and continues.
Dustbin: However, I am so sad at this moment. I don’t understand why people like you do not use me.
Instead of throwing the rubbish into me, you are putting it outside me, around me but not INTO me.
Why people? Why? I am so sad. ( He cries immediately).
Then, come another boy onto the stage. He staggered slightly and stands at the right of the stage.
Litter: Sorry about that everyone. The wind is quite strong today. Let me introduce myself. Hi, I am
litter. See this. L.i.t.t.e.r. Litter. Please don’t confuse me with the word little although I am physically
little.
Then he sighs and shows a sad look.
Litter: You see, I sympathise myself because people always throw me anyway they want. They toss
me, kick me but never put me into the proper dustbin. Why oh why? Is it difficult to throw me into
the dustbin? I am so pitiful. ( He cries)
Suddenly, two girls walk onto the stage and both of them smiled happily.
Allysa: Oh, this drink is so sweet and delicious. Am I right, Husna?
Husna: Yes.
She looks around and sees the dustbin. Quickly, the dustbin opens his arms and smiles wider. Instead
of throwing into the dustbin, Allysa throws it another way round. His eyes follows the way the plastic
bottle fell off.
Dustbin: No!!!!!!!
Husna: Hey, you should throw the rubbish into the dustbin.
Allysa: Who cares? Plus, we have the cleaner. Let him do his job. Let’s go!
Then, the girls walks away. A boy walk onto the stage. He looked at the dustbin and the litter a few
times.
Litter: Hey you, pick me up! Pick me up! (looking excited)
The boy walks toward the litter. Unfortunately he ignored it and turned back and walked out of the
stage.
Litter: Hey you silly goose! You forgot to pick me up!!
Then, a boy comes onto the stage. He stops at the middle of the stage and sees the litter. A smile
forms on his lips immediately. He walks to the litter.
Litter: Hey you handsome boy. Pick me up, will you?
The boy takes the litter’s hand and pulls him toward the dustbin. He puts the litter into the dustbin
and both of them hugs each other.
Dustbin: Finally, my friend!
Litter: We are together again.
Then, the boy looks at the audience.
Shariful : This is Shariful. Shariful throws the litter into the dustbin. Shariful is smart! Be like
Shariful! (Everyone shows thumbs up!)
The boys bow and all pupils recite the poem.
Then, a litter comes to the stage. He staggered slightly and walked sluggishly.
Dustbin (Ali): What are you?
Litter (Alif): Me? What ARE you?
Dustbin(Ali): You don’t know me? Can you read here?
Litter (Alif) looked at it and stuttered as he tried to read it.
Litter (Alif): Da..das…da…dasbin. OH! You are dustbin. Hello my friend. I have been looking for you
everywhere but I can’t find you.
Ali: Well, you are looking at the wrong place. Alright, I am here now. By the way, who ARE you?
Alif: Me? Can you read here?
Ali: Oh! You are litter! Hey, aren’t you supposed to be in me?
Alif: Sigh….the kids toss me around. The crumpled me and acted as if I am a ball. You don’t know how
sad I am.
Yes, you hear me right. You always see me everywhere. Over there, and there and there too. (point to
the dustbin near the stage.
He walk a few steps forward with his expression changed slightly.
The dustbin quickly waddles sideway and opened his arm with a smile on his lips.
Two girls skipped happily while talking. One of them is drinking something and stopped their track.
One of the girls looked around and saw the dustbin. She smiles and quickly throw the other way
round. The dustbin who at first smiles, became sulky.
Ali: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! ( His eyes
