Suzanne Collins is an American author best known for The Hunger Games trilogy. She began her career writing for children's television in the 1990s before transitioning to writing books. Her first series was The Underland Chronicles, followed by the hugely successful The Hunger Games, set in the dystopian nation of Panem. The series tells the story of Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers for the Hunger Games in place of her sister. In the games, children from each of Panem's 12 districts are forced to fight to the death on live TV.
