5. PLOT SUMMARY: The Hunger Games takes place i n the ruins of North America. There lies the nation of Panem. Within is a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts in different states of repair. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games.
