Analysis Of The Book ' The Stranger '
The Characterization of Meursault in The Stranger In The Stranger, the author Albert Camus, initially portrays Meursault as a monotonous character
lacking emotions toward the events surrounding his life. Meursault reflects indifference at the thought of his girlfriend 's proposal in addition to not
demonstrating empathy in relation to Raymond 's abusive actions toward his girlfriend. Even so, Meursault 's character gradually develops from a
detached individual to a dynamic person as secondary characters, Raymond, his neighbor; Marie, his girlfriend; and the robot–like lady, a complete
stranger, enter his life. These secondary characters, assist in the progression of Meursault 's character by exposing him into events that allow him to
reflect upon the situations differently compared to before. Raymond aids in Meursault 's growth of understanding friendship and loyalty while
Meursault 's girlfriend, Marie, influences him through their romantic relationship(how does she influx him?. In addition, the strange little lady shows
Meursault another form of living, perhaps a life he aspires to have. With these characters, Camus develops Meursault 's character from being
emotionally detached to becoming dynamic, largely through the actions and dialogue of secondary characters. Through one of the secondary
characters, Meursault illustrates an amoral, yet emotional side through his actions and dialogue with Raymond. For instance, Raymond describes his
corrupt plan of writing his

The Social Theory Of Rape
Most people would agree that as you grow up you learn by seeing, feeling ,touching , smelling, and hearing . Albert Bandura supports this by a theory
he created called the Social Learning Theory (McLeod, 2011). Social Learning Theory is a theory that explains that behavior is learned by your social
environment, interactions and observations of others. With this theory I would say it supports opinion in which I would say that rape is not something
somebody just decides one day to do. I believe that rape is learned throughout time. There are many social and even media factors that sometimes
may come off with the intention that rape is acceptable. In some media factors they may even perceive that being forcibly raped is pleasurable.
Movies tend to do it often and sometimes movies don 't realize that what people see on television can sometimes influence people to see these acts
as a norm. For instance the fact that a college kid is in a frat and he 's in a party there is a good percentage that he would reenact what television had
stereotype frats boys to do. Television would label the frat boys as potential rapist and the humanmind would consider that when you take on that role
as a frat boy. One of the biggest media factors all the way from television to the internet that for so many years that perceive rape as acceptable is
pornography. Pornography for years have been an easy access for pretty much people of all ages to watch freely on the internet (Phillips, 2014). So

In J. M. Coetzee’S Waiting For The Barbarians, The Magistrate
In J. M. Coetzee's Waiting For the Barbarians, the magistrate is highly concerned with being recognized as a good and just man. In "Existentialism is a
Humanism", Jean–Paul Sartre discusses how people should be held accountable for their actions and that it is one's actions that defines them. Both
Coetzee and Sartre discuss what it means to be a good person and what defines an action as good. From an existential viewpoint, if one only causes
harm, they would be viewed as a harmful person even if their intentions were perfectly harmless. One the other hand, one who mostly commits good
deed would be seen as a fine individual. This idea can be applied to the magistrate in Waiting For the Barbarians. Though the magistrate would like to be

The magistrate could have saved them from Colonel Joll and the soldier, but instead, the magistrate chose to protect his job and his relationship with
the Empire. Although the magistrate did not torture the barbarians himself, by allowing the torturing to occur, his actions cannot be seen as much
better than those of Colonel Joll. When the Empire soldiers decided to publicly torture barbarians, the magistrate received another opportunity to act
as a good person and prevent the soldiers from committing such savage acts, but instead, he chose to waste his potential and watch the spectacle
alongside the rest of the crowd. While observing the soldiers' actions, the magistrate states, "Let it at the very least be said, if it ever comes to be
said, if there is ever anyone in some remote future interested to know the way we lived, that in this farthest outpost of the Empire of light there
existed one man who in his heart was not a barbarian" (Coetzee 104). Though the magistrate may believe that he alone was not a barbarian in terms of
how he was feeling, that does not mean that he was a good man. He still chose to stand in the crowd and watch the nomads be tortured and therefore
was no better than the rest of the town. As the leader of town, the magistrate had the potential to go up to the military men and stop them from going
through with the public display of torture, but the magistrate chose to waste that potential and only reacted once it

Executive summary
This report is to provide the ways in leadership and learning through organisational learning theories and examples of organisational, social and personal
areas. Reflection of organisational theories to the leadership and learning is the main issue of the report and it will help to understand how the
organisational theories will work in real circumstances.
This report seeks meaning of organisational learning and also asks mainly organisational learning for good leadership in three types of ways such as
knowing, going and showing.
People learn from others, then evaluated learnt behaviours to develop competencies and use them to others to achieve goals properly.
It is recommended to be a good leader;
Developing learnt behaviour with own thinking and feeling
Have a clear vision
Keep developing own skills and knowledge
Have self–belief and self–efficacy
Have decision making and communication skills
Be at the head, do it first and show others
Have reward and punishment for the result

Critique of the Study by Sohn and Colleagues, "Simulation–based smoking cessation intervention education for undergraduate nursing students"
In this paper, Sohn and colleagues (2011) study Simulation–based smoking cessation intervention education for undergraduate nursing students will be
critiqued with the assistance of Loiselle and Profetto–McGrath's (2011) book Canadian Essentials of Nursing Research.
Title
The title of the article is clear and concise. It is only ten words long and clearly states the nature of the study. The population under study is identified,
and the issue being considered is included in the title as well. All of these factors contribute in making the title of the article effective.

Several articles were used to explain the underlying motive of the instruments being put in place, such as questionnaires including questions on beliefs
about the health benefits of smoking cessation, experience and attitude of smoking cessation intervention, experience of smoking cessation intervention,
perceived barriers of smoking cessation intervention, and self–efficacy of smoking cessation intervention. The researchers discovered that the results of
this study were found to be consistent with another survey on smoking cessation. The literature in this article summarized existing knowledge on the
topic of smoking cessation to complement the results of the study. The authors mention several similar studies, including a survey of 344 Korean
nurses and deans or chairs of 44 Korean nursing schools on smoking cessation, and compare the results of previous studies to the results of the study at
hand. However, the authors stated that they "were not able to find any previous study exploring the effectiveness of simulation education on smoking
cessation intervention" (Sohn, et al., p. 872). With this study being one of the first of its kind to focus specifically on simulation training and smoking
cessation, it can help lay a solid basis for a new study.

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Stabil Brickss
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1INTRODUCTION
Earthen construction has evolved with mankind and creates housing opportunities world–wide. Building with stabilized compressed earthen bricks
(SCEBs) is becoming more popular due to the low cost, relative abundance of materials, and quality product performance. The majority of developing
countries are today faced with an ever increasing problem of providing sufficient yet low–cost housing in sufficient numbers. In the last few decades,
shelter conditions have been worsening: resources have remained insufficient, housing demand has increased and the urgency to provide immediate
practical solutions has become more critical.
Appropriate shelter is one of the most important basic human needs, yet 30 percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Use Of A Tourniquet Is An Effective Means Of Arresting...
The Tourniquet The use of a tourniquet is an effective means of arresting life–threatening external hemorrhage from a limb injury. The use of
tourniquets has been documented in the annals of historical medicine as far back as 6th century BC. "The Hippocratic body of work mentions in
passing tight bandaging and distal limb gangrene without noting hemorrhage control, probably because hemorrhage and death, although linked
empirically, were not linked philosophically by the ancient Greeks. (Kragh, Swan, Smith, Mabry, & Blackbourne, 2012, para. 6)" The first reported
use of a battlefield tourniquet was by French army surgeon, Etienne Morel in 1674 (Welling, McKay, Rasmussen, & Rich, 2011). The device
included a belt that went through a wood block (with a hole at each end), and a stick was used in the loop of the belt around the limb to twist as a
windlass; this was known as a block tourniquet. The actual word tourniquet originated from the French word toner, meaning to turn. A tourniquet is a
constricting or compressing device used as a bandage to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time. Pressure is applied
circumferentially to the skin and underlying tissues of a limb. The pressure is transferred to the walls of the vessels causing them to become
temporarily occluded. A tourniquet can be used in an emergency situations to control life–threatening bleeding. Therefore, a tourniquet is an acceptable
treatment for uncontrolled

A Very Brief Biography of Albert Einstein
To become a scientist is not an easy path. You start from zero and have to start making people believe in you. That is one of the hardest task you have
to do as a scientist but along come other task. You have to go through a lot of experiments and trial and error. People may start believing your thoughts
and equations. The fact that they believe them does not make you a scientist until you can prove your theory.Albert Einstein for decades had the best
thoughts but was not consider a scientist until he had physically proved his theory.
Albert Einstein was considered a middle–class Jew. He was born March 14, 1879 in WГјrttemberg, Germany. Albert Einstein family relocated to
Munich, Germany and he began to go to school there. When he was a going to school things that got his attention were math, science and music.
Even though he was interested in those subjects he dropped out of school 1894 as, many teens do. Then relocated himself in Switzerland in 1902
were he ended up going back to school. When he began going to school there he started to take a science course. Einstein father passed away thinking
his son was a disgrace to the family.
Albert Einstein was a ladies man he would play his violin at ladies lunches and cocktail parties. Although, he was a ladies man he fell in love with the
only girl in his physics class. During these times many parents opposed to their child marriage and Albert Einstein parents were one of them. His
parents were against that marriage

What Does Genetic Inheritance May Influence One- Behaviour
Biological level of analysis "Explain how genetic inheritance may influence one– behaviour, with reference to one relevant research study. " Genetic
inheritance is genes that are gain from parents or ancestors, usually from generation to generation. Genes define characteristics in a person and are
passed down through generations; however, the environment can encourage these characteristics. Genetic inheritance does play a role in one's
behaviour also their environment. Researchers are not quite sure on whether if genetic influence or the environment impacts one's behaviour the most.
Research done on families and how the family interacted with each other each day shows genetic influence. The study to aid the relationship between
genetic influence and conduct is the Minnesota Twins study, which meant to watch the impact of environment and genetic influence upon a large
number of variables which included: brainpower remainder, identity and word related/professional perks, by exploring the connection between these
elements in twins raised separated utilizing MZTs as a control. Regardless of these shortcomings the study does demonstrate a solid connection between
genetic influence and insight, proposing that genetic influence has a generous impact on conduct. Heston, in 1966, led an examination to test to what

The Stranger By Albert Camus
The Stranger "The Stranger," written by the Algerian writer Albert Camus, is a novel about Meursault, a character who's different and even
threatening views on life take him to pay the highest price a person can pay: his life. This was Camus' first novel written in the early 1940's, in
France, and it reflects the authors belief that there is no meaning in life and it is absurd for humans to try to find it places like religion. The main
themes of the novel are irrationality of the universe and the meaningless of human life. During Meursault's trial after killing the "Arab," Meursault is
questioned for several things that do not seem to have anything to do with the murder to a point where one wonders the actual reason for him to be in
trial. Albert Camus professes his ideas on the absurd through Meursault in "the Stranger" to point out how pointless and irrational life actually is.
After Meursault helps his friend Raymond to write a deceiving letter for Raymond's mistress in order to trick her into going back with Raymond so he
could take revenge of her spitting of her face and hitting her for "letting him down," Raymond gets in trouble with the mistresses' brother. One day on
the beach Meursault, Raymond and Masson (a friend) have an encounter with "the Arab" (the mistresses' brother) which leads Raymond to hand a gun
to Meursault which later leads him to murder "the Arab." During the trial, Meursault is not only accused for the murder of the Arab, but also morally

The Outsider, by Albert Camus and The Assault, by Harry...
Camus and Mulisch present that the past and present are interrelated. The authors do this through the two characters, Meursault and Anton. Through
Meursault, we see that his past actions affect the outcome of his trial. Through Anton, we see that his present situation constantly brings him back to his
past despite him trying to escape it. Thus the authors stylistically link the past and present to demonstrate that they are inevitably related, where certain
events are unavoidable or the past is undeniable.
In 'The Outsider', the society continually brings back Meursault's past actions against his will, such as his behaviour at his mother's funeral. Under the
rule of the French Colonialists, the French Algerian court is a microcosm of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this, the society tries to fabricate or impose rational explanations of Meursault's irrational action. This is evident during the trial process when
the prosecutor rationally explains for Meursault the series of event that happened, although Meursault himself does not have a solid explanation for his
actions. The prosecutor explains it so well, that even Meursault himself finds it "quite plausible" .
Anton's past is brought back to him in a different way than Meursault. When Anton meets Cor Takes he starts repainting the picture of the tragic night.
It was fate that brought Takes to Anton, allowing him to overhear Takes. This brought Anton's past back to the present by discovering the motives of
Takes and was "the first time that he had cried over what had happened." Before this, he was able to put the past behind him but was never able to
escape it. When it was brought back to him, Takes' words reaches into his heart, and was why he cried. Mulisch shows aspects of the past will always
catch up with the present and it is inescapable. Eventually, Anton comes to realize that he can never fully escape the past and has to accept the whole
truth in order to find closure and experience true 'forgetting'. Anton thought, "... of how everything comes to light sooner or later." In time, he would
have had to face the truth as

Albert Fish : An American Serial Killer
Albert Fish
Hamilton Howard "Albert" Fish (May 19, 1870 – January 16, 1936) was an American serial killer. A child rapist and cannibal, he boasted that he "had
children in every state", and at one time stated the number was about 100. However, it is not known whether he was referring to rapes or
cannibalization, nor is it known if the statement was truthful. He was a suspect in at least five murders during his lifetime. Fish was considered to be
the most sexually perverted murderer in American history to date. Fish confessed to three murders that police were able to trace to a known homicide,
and he confessed to stabbing at least two other people. He was put on trial for the kidnapping and murder of Grace Budd, and was convicted and
executed by electric chair.
Childhood
Fish was born in Washington, D.C., on May 19, 1870, to Randall (1795 – October 16, 1875) and Ellen Fish. His father was American, of English
ancestry, and his mother was Scots–Irish American. Fish said that he was named after statesman and politician Hamilton Fish, a distant relative. His
father was 43 years older than his mother and 75 years old at the time of his birth. Fish was the youngest child and had three living siblings: Walter,
Annie, and Edwin. He wished to be known as "Albert" after a dead sibling and to escape the nickname "Ham & Eggs" that he was given at an
orphanage in which he spent much of his childhood. Fish 's family had a history of mental illness. His uncle suffered from mania. A brother

Albert Camus-the Outsider
"Probably no European writer of his time left so deep a mark on the imagination." – Conor Cruise O'Brien.
First published in French as L'Etranger in 1942, Albert
Camus' The Outsider addresses the constrictive nature of society and what happens when an individual tries to break free from the conformity forced
upon him by staying true to himself, and following his own ideal of absolute truth and sincerity in every action. Propelled more by the philosophy of
existentialism and the notion of the absurd than plot and characters, Camus' novel raises many questions about life, and answers them in a final chilling
climax.
The plot of The Outsider revolves around a central act of unmeditated violence on a beach, proving that "the darkest ... Show more content on

Existentialism refers to the philosophy that questions life which exists in a hostile environment. Camus, along with his friend, fellow writer, and
French Resistance leader Jean–Paul Sartre pushed this train of thought into mainstream culture. In the extended essay The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus
realises the only philosophical question worth asking is whether or not to commit suicide. The absurd nature of life referred to is the incompatibility of
incomprehensible circumstances such as impending death, cruelty, violence, genocide and racism, and the overwhelming desire for, and expectation of
a happy life and the principles of optimism. One primary example of the absurd given in the text is the co–existence of the suffering and joy in life.
This view of absurdity is shared with the existentialist Simone de Beauvoir who contends that the suffering in death is a "scandal". The hostile
environment, or constant, harsh circumstances are represented in the text by the oppressive heat of the sun which is ever–present at the side of
Meursault's consciousness. He feels it as he walks to his mother's funeral service through the French countryside; He feels it beating down on him
when he's out swimming with a girl, Marie; he feels its uncomfortable, abrasive fire inescapably as he fires the bullets into the Arab's body. Meursault
becomes aware of the absurdity of life on the eve of his death as he realises that he's "happy", and

How Does Attribution Affect A Person 's Behaviour?
This study's aim is to interview participants to determine if context or the situation will alter a person's attributions towards a person's behaviour. Five
participants were tested on three behaviours occurring in six different environments. We predicted that they would look at the situation/environment
initially before looking internally at the actor to determine whether their behaviour or normal or abnormal. It is proven that situations are more
important than the behaviour when judging someone's behaviour, as Bandura & Walter Mischel as social learning theorists argued (Basic psych).
People are social animals, who we are and what we do is strongly influenced by our experiences of other people along the way and we are affected by
the social situations that we find ourselves in. Attribution plays a central role in virtually every social encounter that people have with others. People
witness behaviour in others and will seek to understand why events happen or why people behave in various situations. The context of such
interactions can change the entire outcome of how a person will perceive other people or their behaviour. Various studies and theories have developed
to explain why and how people make decisions on why people do things and have hypothesised that people make both internal and external attributions
of others, based on the relation to different contexts, or that people behave differently to what is expected, normally, conventionally or abnormally....in

Existentialism And The Absurd By Albert Camus
In studying the works of authors, we are able to see the many factors that play a key role in their lives. These authors incorporate different components
into their novels and stories to present a deeper meaning within their work. In his various books, short stories, and plays, the French–Algerian writer
Albert Camus relates to his philosophical beliefs: specifically existentialism and the absurd, as well as his connecting idea of rebellion. Camus' most
prominent works – such as the novels The Plague, The Stranger, The Rebel, and others – reflect these beliefs and ideas he held.
Though he was and continues to be considered as one, Camus made a point of rejecting the label of an existentialist. Existentialism is essentially based
on the idea that philosophy starts with the acceptance of being an actual living human individual or the "realization of existence." The term existence
before essence basically means that the after this recognition of existence, "the essence," or qualities and defining traits, will follow. In existentialism a
fundamental belief is that each and every individual has the responsibility of applying their own meaning to life and genuinely living life through this
specific purpose (Wikipedia contributors). In these aspects, many of Camus' writings can therefore been seen as reflecting existentialism.

Putting a 21st Century Twist on the Past
In this essay I will argue that my practice is contemporary by showing 21st century influences. I will do this by discussion of themes and practices of
other artists that I am interested in, evaluating the issues they address. In particular Francis Alys, George Shaw and Social Realism.
I first realised my interest in manual labour, menial jobs and cycle of working, when I was travelling, and this influenced my work. Whilst visiting the
Yves Saint Laurent gardens in Marrakech there was an employee of the gardens sweeping the flower petals into his grasp, whilst more constantly fell.
This time consuming action initially interested me as absurd, however after further dwelling I considered the action more of a metaphor for the idea of

From taking the outsider role he was able to see situations differently than if he was part of them. I feel the same within my practice; I am a keen
observer of people and always find my most inspired and passionate ideas originate from just watching a situation. In 'Placing Pillows' Alys uses his
role of observer to his advantage. He can see the lack of repair and action after the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. He reacts to by placing pillows
within the broken windows. He is able to use such a simple thing that becomes such a strong and political statement.
In the world today we are subjected to roles and expectations, we are all expected to mature and earn a living, when this doesn't happen it is
frowned upon. For example not having a career or a consistent income is thought to be out of the ordinary almost not conforming lesser you as a
person. An enthusiast for symbols and allegories, Alyss casts the world in a lighthearted way where it is easy for the audience to appreciate what is
being said. Paradox of Praxis 1 (Sometimes Doing Something Leads to Nothing) where he pushes a block of ice around Mexico City taking no steps
to stop it from melting to a pool of water pulls similarities to the myth of Sisyphus, a Greek mythological figure punished for the rest of his life to push
a bolder up a hill only for it to fall back down again

Understanding The Development Process Of A Child
After carefully observing a 7–year–old elementary school student, I was able to analyze and understand the development process of a child in a
detailed manner. The individual observed was a seven–year–old Caucasian male, who is currently enrolled at a local elementary school. The participant
is the oldest child of the family who comes from a well–balanced family background. Mother and the father are healthy individuals who are actively
engaged in the upbringing of the young participant. Father of the participant is a full–time graduate student at Midwestern University. The participant
spends the majority of his free time outside of his living space actively playing with his younger siblings or just by himself. The participant is in
second grade and rides to school every day on his bicycle under the supervision of his mother. The participant spends the majority of the day with his
mother than father, this is primarily due to father's full–time status as a graduate student. Observation of this participant was divided in two locations on
Midwestern University's campus. The first 40 minutes of the observation took place outside in front of the participant's living space. Participant spent
time playing with two sticks, trying to attach one stick with another. Although the participant was preoccupied with the sticks, he was aware of his
surroundings. On multiple occasion participant made a direct eye contact with a stranger walking by or a something similar. Participant also

The Child Of Hermann And Pauline Einstein
Born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Germany, Albert Einstein was the firstborn child of Hermann and Pauline Einstein, a secular Jewish couple. Upon
failing in the industry of featherbedding, Hermann moved the family to Munich, Germany in order to start a new business in electrical engineering
with his brother Jakob. Two years after Albert was born, his sister, Maria, came into the picture, later becoming the best friend of his childhood. It is
documented that Einstein's first interaction and true spark of major interest in science came at a rather young age of five or six, when his father
showed him a compass. He was intrigued by the fact that no matter which way you spun it, it pointed in the same direction. It was not long after that
Einstein began schooling in Petersschule (Peter's School) in Munich. Moving through Peter's School with not much difficulty, but moreover with a
simple discomfort of the military style formality, he joined the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich at the age of ten. Despite his genius for which he is
revered today, Einstein struggled in elementary school. In fact, Einstein had not learned to speak until the age of three, a rather late time relative to
most children. He found school rather dull and stiff as it had a stronger focus on Latin and Greek as opposed to his talents and interests, science and
mathematics. In 1893, Hermann and Jakob sold the electrical engineering business after not performing when tasked with electrifying Munich,

Primary And Secondary Circular Reactions
The second and third stage is primary and secondary circular reactions. Throughout these stages, babies repeat entertaining actions concentrated on their
own body. The primary stage usually appears when they are between 1–4 months old (McLeod, 2010). This is when I started to continually kick my
legs a lot, and I sucked on my thumb even more. Supposedly I smiled a bunch, and I loved looking at myself in the mirror (Personal archives,
November 23, 2015). I also had my baptism during this stage; it was exactly a month and a week after I was born. Being the cereal lover that I am
today, I learned that I had my first cereal when I was only 4 month's old. The secondary circular reactions stage usually occurs from 4–8 months old,
and I started using more objects to keep myself entertained. My first tooth appeared when I was 6 months' old. The fourth sub stage takes place from
8–12 months of age, the stage of co–ordinating secondary schemes. During this stage, babies start showing signs that they can use knowledge to
reach a goal (McLeod, 2010). This was a really huge stage for me in my life. At 8 months, I was able to sit without having any support from anyone.
At 9 months old, I started to crawl, and then I took my first step at 10 months. Finally, I started to walk on my own at 11 months. The last two sub

What Is Money Laundering?
What is Money Laundering? Money laundering is a method by which the background and ownership of money is generated as a result of illegal
activity, can be concealed. In effect the money is "cleaned, laundered or disguised through honest means and as an outcome the earnings lose their
existing criminal identity and look as if it was generated from a legitimate source. This practice is usually completed a number of times. It is common
for this procedure to occur in respect of the earnings from drugs, human trafficking, prostitution, corruption, bootlegging, racketeering and illegal arms
smuggling. The process allows the money to be controlled, without the fear that the transactions will lead back to the initiator or originators of the...

Charles "Lucky" Luciano was born Salvatore Lucania on November 24, 1897 in Lercara Friddi, Sicily to Antonio and Rosalia Lucania along with
four other siblings. Luciano 's father worked in a sulfur mine in Sicily. When Luciano was 10 years old the family immigrated to the United States.
They settled in New York City in the area of Manhattan on its Lower East Side, a common destination for Italian immigrants. At age 14, Luciano
withdrew from school and began a job distributing hats with a weekly earnings of $7.00. However, after engaging in a dice game and winning $244.00,
Luciano abandoned his job and went to making money out on the street. Within that year his parents would eventually send him to the Brooklyn Truant
School.
While a teenager, Luciano started his own gang and unlike other street gangs whose daily activities were petty crime, Luciano offered security to Jewish
youngsters from Italian and Irish gangs for the cost of ten cents weekly. It was throughout this phase Luciano encountered the Jewish Meyer Lansky
which would become his imminent business partner and close friend. It is not clear how Luciano had gotten the nickname "Lucky", but it may have
come from him enduring a severe whipping and throat slashing incident by three men in the 1920s. Later it was believed to be because Luciano
refused to work for another mob boss. From 1916 to 1936, Luciano was detained 25 times on charges stretching from assault to unlawful gambling to
corruption as well as

Taking a Look at Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Germany to Hermann Einstein and Pauline Einstein. As he got older, he enrolled into Luitpold
Gymnasium. After they transferred to Italy, he entered Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich to be trained as a teacher in physics and
mathematics, where he gained his diploma in 1901. He was also studying his religion, Judaism. Even though, he earned his diploma he could not
find a teaching post so he accepted a position in the Swiss Patent Office. After he was on track with his position, he obtained his doctor's degree.
During his spare time, while during labor in the Patent Office, he was able to complete other activities that were rewarded by being Privatdozent in
Berne, in 1909. He became a Professor Extraordinary at Zurich in 1909, and then later on in 1911 he became Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague.
In 1914 he was appointed Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Physical Institute and Professor in the University of Berlin. He became a United States
Citizen in 1940 and later retired from his post in 1945. Einstein was a world leading figure after World War II; he was given the opportunity to be in
the Presidency of the State of Israel, which he declined. He later on supported and collaborated with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in establishing the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem. One of Einstein's biggest success subjects was having a clear, understanding view of the problems of physics and the

Women 's Behavior Or Aggressiveness Towards The Bobo Doll...
Bobo Doll Experiment "Accomplishment is socially judged by ill defined criteria so that one has to rely on others to find out how one is doing"
(Bandura). In the 1960s and 1970s, being a psychologist was difficult. In order to prove a theory, you would have to conduct different experiments that
would lead to a conclusion that was still criticized by society. An example, of a psychologist that had difficulty with his experiment isAlbert Bandura.
In the Bobo Doll Experiment, Albert Bandura used different methods, on groups of kids of different ages and genders. To understand the Bobo Doll
Experiment, one must first know what Albert Bandura's experiment was about, how it correlates to children's aggression, and how television and games
contribute to children's behavior. The purpose of Albert Bandura experiment was to study the children's behavior or aggressiveness toward the
Bobo doll, after observing an adult being aggressive toward the doll themselves. This experiment is now known as The Bobo Experiment.
According to the Association for Psychological Science, Albert Bandura conducted this Bobo doll experiment with children as young as three years
old and as old as 6 years old. Bandura used a female role model and the subjects were divided into three groups. The first group was exposed to the
aggressive role model and the second group was exposed to their non–aggressive role model. And the third group was not exposed to aggression at all.

Meursault's Indifference in The Stranger, by Albert Camus
In The Stranger, Albert Camus allows the main character to tell the story in order to give the reader an experience of his own. Obviously, with a novel
also comes language, which Camus incorporates cleverly as a way to indirectly illustrate Meursault's thoughts about certain situations. Although the
novel represents a postmodern setting, the author shifts the overall meaning. In The Stranger, Camus applies a unique literary style as a power that
deflects blame from Meursault, the antiheroic character. In order to disclaim the fault of Meursault, Camus incorporates several instances in which he
leaves a greater sense of authority to nonliving objects, while further drawing attention away from the main character. Based on the implication of ...

Furthermore, he covers the Arab's intentions when talking about the same blade that persists in bringing Meursault pain. He describes the stabbing as a
"scorching blade [that] slashes at [his] eyelashes and stabs at [his] stinging eyes" (59). The moment that the blade brings itself to Meursault's face and
slashes at his eyelashes, of course, is the point at which Meursault acknowledges that everything is beginning to reel. Finally, under the influence of the
sea's fiery breath and the sun's scorching attitude, Meursault admits that "the trigger gave" when reminiscing on the death of the Arab (59). Not until
after he blames the trigger for the mishap does he use first person to describe the negative actions, as he shoots the Arab four more times. At this point,
perhaps, he realizes his own fault within the situation as he continues to set himself in place for the remainder of part one. The simple sentences in The
Stranger reveal Meursault's emotional detachment from society, while the more complex sentences are assigned to objects with authority. Throughout
the entire novel, Meursault's simplicity and disinterest in the world can be identified with the incorporation of his simple statements. Especially in this
particular passage, Meursault finds it unimportant to challenge himself in a way that makes sense. Although Meursault recognizes the sensibility of

The Conundrum of Existence: The Many Comparisons of Manfred and Sisyphus "As thy shadow on the spot, And the power which thou dost feel shall
be what thou must conceal," (Byron I. I. 229–231). Emotions quickly set the scene in Lord Byron's dramatic poem, "Manfred". The man, deranged
from the feeling of immense guilt and peril of a first unnamed sin, makes his angst known from the very beginning. Yet, he seems to hide a deep
secret. Byron's poem "Manfred" provides the audience with a glimpse into Manfred's struggle with existence and his constant guilt over a "secret sin"
by using the juxtaposition of the natural and supernatural worlds to pose various questions to the reader to discern their own answers to the problems

In a sense, Sisyphus's acceptance of the repetitive acts as the ultimate defiance, allowing for the paradox of an open embrace of an assignment while
defying the task simultaneously. Yet, the question at hand remains: how does Sisyphus's mundane chore relate to Manfred's existence as a man of
constant sorrow? Though the two tales may seem as if no similarities exist, the two tasks the protagonists endure bear subtle comparisons. Manfred,
sentenced to eternal guilt and days of never ending solace, pushes his own boulder each day up the massive hill only for it to spiral down to the
beginning, just as Sisyphus had before him. Evidence of such a struggle exists throughout the text. Within his opening soliloquy, Manfred
acknowledges his battle with guilt, stating, "My Slumbers – if I slumber – are no sleep, But a continuance of enduring thought... But Grief should be
the Instructor of the wise; Sorrow is knowledge" (Byron. I. I. 3–4, 9–10). Using these small phrases of the soliloquy, Manfred's acceptance aligns
directly with that of Sisyphus and his respective acceptance of his own task at hand. Manfred attributes his sullen status to the fervent ability to gain
knowledge by simply being sad, much like Sisyphus could possibly highlight his gain of muscle to the hard labor of boulder rolling. Each respective
task has in some form strengthened the man being tested,

Big Fish Is A Good Character Study
"There are some fish that cannot be caught. It's not that they are faster or stronger than other fish, they're just touched by something extra." This
quote takes place in the movie Big Fish. It is about a father and son who don't get along very well. William Bloom, who is the son to Edward
bloom, gets very upset with his father for always telling tall tales, or stories anywhere they go. In the beginning of the film, the father starts off by
telling the story about him catching the fish at his sons wedding reception. William gets very angry with his father for telling this story once again, and
the fact that it was at his son's reception. This occurrence leads to William and Edward to stop speaking to each other.Big Fish is a good character study

Isolationism Of The Stranger And The Thief
Isolationism in The Stranger and The Thief Though there are multiple elements in both Albert Camus' The Stranger, and Fuminori Nakamura's The
Thief that allow each author to develop their novels, none is more important that the deployment of isolationism. Though both Camus and Nakamura
give their protagonists isolated states at an award winning level, Camus does so in a better way through the addition of how Meursault copes with
elements of the absurd. One of the first things readers notice about Meursault that causes them to immediately identify him as an isolationist, is his
indifference to companionship. Meursault truly only has two acquaintances: Marie, and Raymond. When each of them tries to define their relationship
with Meursault, or make it seem more serious, Meursault does not seem thrilled in the least. "Marie came over that evening and asked if I'd marry her,
I said I wouldn't mind" (Camus, 33). Though readers may first feel as though Meursault does not see the seriousness in marriage, that is not the case.
Rather, Meursault simply feels that marriage is unnecessary. It is thoughts like these that not only further isolate Meursault from his friends, but cause
even Marie to view Meursault as a "queer fellow" (Camus, 33). Camus further characterizes Meursault as an isolationist by making it seem as though
Meursault is a spectator at his own mother's funeral. Meursault never thanks his mother's friends for coming to pay their respects, and furthermore
Camus makes

Relationship Between Religion and Isolation in the...
To Pray or Not to Pray: An exploration into the relationship between religion and isolation in The Stranger and Chronicle of a Death Foretold
Religion is a major foundation for many cultures. It is present all over the world in many different shapes and forms. But all religions have one thing in
common, communality. Naturally, with rituals such as congregation people of religion are brought together. This community worships together, but
this relationship extends further than the confines of a church. Members of the same church, or religion, have the same core values, and these
commonalities result in a community that would not have otherwise existed. When there is a disregard for religion, there is a loss of community and

Very different from Meursault, Santiago Nasar, the main character in Chronicle of a Death Foretold, is very much a man of religion. Santiago's respect
for religion is seen in the first sentence of the novel, "Santiago Nasar got up at five–thirty in the morning to wait for the boat the bishop was coming
on" (Marquez 3). Santiago's dedication is seen through the fact that he is rising at such an early hour to see a Catholic authority figure. Also, he
"put on a shirt and pants of white linen... It was his attire for special occasions" (5). The act of wearing clothes specific for this occasion shows
Santiago's respect for religion. The importance of religion in Chronicle of a Death Foretold is not just in relation to Santiago. His whole community
values religion. For example, when Angela Vicario and Bayardo San Roman wed, they wed in a church with "floral decorations equal in cost to those
for fourteen first class funerals" (42). The flowers alone show the importance of marriage, which in itself is a religious institution. Even more
important is the purity of the bride. After being returned to her mother by Bayardo San Roman, Angela says her mother "was holding [her] by the hair
with one hand and beating [her] with the other with such rage that [she] thought [her mother] was going to kill [her]" (46). The image of a mother
beating her adult daughter is pretty powerful. One must have done

family and community where they are at. I believe that all families want what is best for their children and want them to be successful. I believe that
both the families and the students are doing the best they can at any given moment. Families often need opportunities for support from outside
agencies and support systems in order to allow them to be the best they can be. Holistic or wrap–around services are essential.. A very basic example
of this philosophy is that a child can't learn if they are hungry so food should be provided. Students who need it should have access to meals
provided by the school. I am employed by an organization that packs 300 backpacks of food that children who are risk of not having enough to eat
over the weekend can take home. If students need mental health services, access to those should be provided. If families need support in getting
medical care or safe housing, they should be able to access resources to help them and schools can be the hub of those kinds of services for families
in need. If the ultimate goal of education is to help create contributing members of society, than some families will need support along the way. School

A Collection Of Social Analyses Following The World Wars
Philosophical Superbloom: A Collection of Social Analyses Following the World Wars
The human race has made tremendous advancements at a staggering rate over the past half–century. These advancements have taken form through the
forms of technology, arts, and philosophy, just to name a few. Yet, there remains the question of whether society as a whole has progressed or if a
decline in social justice has been the unfortunate price that we have paid for advancement elsewhere. Through fascist regimes and two of the most
devastating wars in modern history, the early nineteenth century has left many searching for explanations as to how we have allowed for such
atrocities to take shape. Erich Fromm analyzes the individual's eagerness for obedience in "The Individual in the Chains of Illusion." Albert Camus
implements a nihilistic and existential commentary in "The Myth of Sisyphus." Jean–Paul Sartre stresses engagement within the individual in "
Existentialism." Sigmund Freud explores the natural hostility of human nature in "Civilization and its Discontents." Finally, Vladimir Lenin denounces
the capitalist and imperialist ideologies that several nations have recently adopted in "Revolutionary Politics in a World at War." These compositions
are desperate attempts to deconstruct society and human nature to its core as a means to resolve global tensions.
Obedience is a powerful tool that must be scrutinized in all instances. In fact, Fromm argues, "disobedience is as great a virtue as

The Stranger by Albert Camus
Everyone has felt the pressure of societal expectations during their lifetime. The negative effects society brings on one's life can lead to a feeling of
rejection towards the people who do not conform to meet those standards. Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, author of Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and
Albert Camus, author of The Stranger, both construct the external moral conflict of society versus the protagonist in order to critique the way society
fails to accept the moral values of the people who differ from the norm.

Meursault is a man who does not show his emotions very well, but instead focuses on his physical need; "I explained to him, however, that my nature
was such that my physical needs often got in the way of my feelings" (65). Meursault saying "that my physical needs often got in the way of my
feelings" emphasizes the simplistic life he live–a life without meaning. Showing emotions would signify a life with purpose, which Meursault does not
believe. The Algerian society, in which the novella takes place, does not accept the type of lifestyle Meursault lives and believes every life should be
lived with a purpose. Society's expectations clash with Meursault's values because his beliefs and outlooks on life are not accepted by society, which
sets up the external conflict between the two.
In the external conflict between society and the protagonist, GarcГa MГЎrquez emphasizes the negative effects society has on a person who goes
against the social norm by showing the biased opinions towards the Pedro and Pablo Vicario regarding Santiago's murder. After brutally stabbing
Santiago to death, the Vicario twins sprint to the church to inform the priest of their barbaric act; "Both were exhausted from the barbarous work of
death, and their clothes and arms were soaked and their faces smeared with sweat and still living blood but the priest recalled the surrender as an act
of great dignity"(49). The priest calling the murder "an act of great dignity" shows how, in

Erikson 's Theory Of Psychosocial Development Essay
Psychosocial Development
"Erik Erickson (1902–1994) was best known for his work on stages of psychosocial development and identity crisis" (Cherry, A Brief Biography of
His Remarkable Life, 2016). Erickson was able to gain a clear focus on children and was able to interpret what he was seeing by observing children
throughout the life, including events of childhood, adulthood, and old age. "Erikson 's theory posits that every human being passes through several
distinct and qualitatively different stages in life, from birth to death." According to him, the stages are universal, and the ages which one is said to
have passed from one to another stage are also fairly universal" (Ramkumar, 2002).
Erikson developed eight stages of psychosocial development that analysis personality, behavior and understanding for facilitating personal
development of self and others. Erikson 's theory demonstrates that individuals face challenges in each stage of development and may not reach their
milestones. "According to Erikson, although there is a predominant issue at each stage, the stages are not watertight. Issues of one stage overlap with
issues of another; how one has dealt with earlier issues determines how one will resolve later issues" (Ramkumar, 2002).

*Reproduction *Motivation*Attention – this implies that to accurately learn by observation, a person must pay attention to the person doing the

The Industrial Distribution Program At Texas A And M...
It is after a good deal of self–assessment that I have decided to pursue undergraduate studies in the Industrial Distribution program at Texas A and M
University. As a statement of purpose for admission into the school, I describe here, my areas of interest, why I chose Texas A and M, and my
objectives and career goals. Ever since elementary school, I have been a big fan of engineering. My inspiration came from the likes of Graham Bell
and Albert Einstein with the invention of the telephone and the mass–energy equivalence equation, respectively. With the aim to join them in the wall
of fame, I participated actively in my science and math classes, and clubs related to the field. As I grew older and had the fortunate chance of
working at various retail stores, I began to develop an interest in business and how it worked. It was only a matter of time before this interest was
strengthened and I began contemplating whether to major in engineering or business. This unfortunately left me indecisive in my choice of major for
a while in college. But after a visit to a Texas A and M prospective student center, I was informed about the Industrial Distribution program and at that
moment, I was certain of what I wanted to study. My exposure in the field of engineering can be traced back to my high school days. Not only did I
take science classes such as physics, but I was also a member of two engineering clubs which taught numerous material outside the school's curriculum.

Albert Einstein Research Paper "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is
a miracle." (Einstein). Through Albert Einstein 's eyes, everything that exists in the world is a miracle. Einstein 's discoveries have proved the science
world that the elements which make up the earth are indeed miracles. Albert Einstein is one of the most accomplished mathematicians and scientists
known to man. His contributions to both science and mathematics have affected the way one views the world in a physical sense as well as a
theoretical and philosophical sense.
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany on March 14, 1879. Einstein was raised in a middle–class Jewish household where his
father, Hermann Einstein was a retailer and an electrician, while his mother, Pauline Koch, was a homemaker. Einstein also had a younger sister, Maja,
who was two years younger than him (Albert Einstein–Bio.com).
When Einstein was old enough to be enrolled in school, his father, Hermann Einstein, moved the family to Munich, Germany where Albert Einstein
attended elementary school. As a child, Einstein developed a speech impediment which contributed to the struggles he experienced with the rigorous
Munich school system. But despite the issues and complications he experienced in school, Einstein formed a sense of curiosity which helped

Existentialism, Nihilism, And Objectivism
From the beginning of time people have pondered existence and what it means to truly "Be', indeed the most important questions that one can ask are
those of a metaphysical nature. The deeper questions that seek to explain the reason we're here in the first place, if for any reason at all. It's easy to
get lost in the many differing theories proposed from Determinism to Rationalism to Solipsism to Absurdism the possible theories one can ascribe as
correct are endless. But the ones that try to answer those big questions in the most general of terms are the ones that seem to hold the most
verisimilitude. Existentialism, Nihilism, and Objectivism are the most general, and although quite different they are also quite similar. But
existentialism seems to be the one which offers the most hope for optimism or any concern for altruism and personal growth.
To begin with it should be taken into consideration the circumstances in which humanity found itself in when these sort philosophical musings of
ontology became so prevalent among the society of thinkers and intellectuals. With the turbulence and constant change of the late 19th and 20th
century it only makes sense that people would begin to wonder what it all really means. With wars, genocide, and poverty contrasted against the
unprecedented industrial and technological advances of the time not to mention the exponential growth in some populations, it became easier and

  • 4. Analysis Of The Book ' The Stranger ' The Characterization of Meursault in The Stranger In The Stranger, the author Albert Camus, initially portrays Meursault as a monotonous character lacking emotions toward the events surrounding his life. Meursault reflects indifference at the thought of his girlfriend 's proposal in addition to not demonstrating empathy in relation to Raymond 's abusive actions toward his girlfriend. Even so, Meursault 's character gradually develops from a detached individual to a dynamic person as secondary characters, Raymond, his neighbor; Marie, his girlfriend; and the robot–like lady, a complete stranger, enter his life. These secondary characters, assist in the progression of Meursault 's character by exposing him into events that allow him to reflect upon the situations differently compared to before. Raymond aids in Meursault 's growth of understanding friendship and loyalty while Meursault 's girlfriend, Marie, influences him through their romantic relationship(how does she influx him?. In addition, the strange little lady shows Meursault another form of living, perhaps a life he aspires to have. With these characters, Camus develops Meursault 's character from being emotionally detached to becoming dynamic, largely through the actions and dialogue of secondary characters. Through one of the secondary characters, Meursault illustrates an amoral, yet emotional side through his actions and dialogue with Raymond. For instance, Raymond describes his corrupt plan of writing his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Social Theory Of Rape Most people would agree that as you grow up you learn by seeing, feeling ,touching , smelling, and hearing . Albert Bandura supports this by a theory he created called the Social Learning Theory (McLeod, 2011). Social Learning Theory is a theory that explains that behavior is learned by your social environment, interactions and observations of others. With this theory I would say it supports opinion in which I would say that rape is not something somebody just decides one day to do. I believe that rape is learned throughout time. There are many social and even media factors that sometimes may come off with the intention that rape is acceptable. In some media factors they may even perceive that being forcibly raped is pleasurable. Movies tend to do it often and sometimes movies don 't realize that what people see on television can sometimes influence people to see these acts as a norm. For instance the fact that a college kid is in a frat and he 's in a party there is a good percentage that he would reenact what television had stereotype frats boys to do. Television would label the frat boys as potential rapist and the humanmind would consider that when you take on that role as a frat boy. One of the biggest media factors all the way from television to the internet that for so many years that perceive rape as acceptable is pornography. Pornography for years have been an easy access for pretty much people of all ages to watch freely on the internet (Phillips, 2014). So ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. In J. M. Coetzee’S Waiting For The Barbarians, The Magistrate In J. M. Coetzee's Waiting For the Barbarians, the magistrate is highly concerned with being recognized as a good and just man. In "Existentialism is a Humanism", Jean–Paul Sartre discusses how people should be held accountable for their actions and that it is one's actions that defines them. Both Coetzee and Sartre discuss what it means to be a good person and what defines an action as good. From an existential viewpoint, if one only causes harm, they would be viewed as a harmful person even if their intentions were perfectly harmless. One the other hand, one who mostly commits good deed would be seen as a fine individual. This idea can be applied to the magistrate in Waiting For the Barbarians. Though the magistrate would like to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The magistrate could have saved them from Colonel Joll and the soldier, but instead, the magistrate chose to protect his job and his relationship with the Empire. Although the magistrate did not torture the barbarians himself, by allowing the torturing to occur, his actions cannot be seen as much better than those of Colonel Joll. When the Empire soldiers decided to publicly torture barbarians, the magistrate received another opportunity to act as a good person and prevent the soldiers from committing such savage acts, but instead, he chose to waste his potential and watch the spectacle alongside the rest of the crowd. While observing the soldiers' actions, the magistrate states, "Let it at the very least be said, if it ever comes to be said, if there is ever anyone in some remote future interested to know the way we lived, that in this farthest outpost of the Empire of light there existed one man who in his heart was not a barbarian" (Coetzee 104). Though the magistrate may believe that he alone was not a barbarian in terms of how he was feeling, that does not mean that he was a good man. He still chose to stand in the crowd and watch the nomads be tortured and therefore was no better than the rest of the town. As the leader of town, the magistrate had the potential to go up to the military men and stop them from going through with the public display of torture, but the magistrate chose to waste that potential and only reacted once it ... The researchers discovered that the results of this study were found to be consistent with another survey on smoking cessation. The literature in this article summarized existing knowledge on the topic of smoking cessation to complement the results of the study. The authors mention several similar studies, including a survey of 344 Korean nurses and deans or chairs of 44 Korean nursing schools on smoking cessation, and compare the results of previous studies to the results of the study at hand. However, the authors stated that they "were not able to find any previous study exploring the effectiveness of simulation education on smoking cessation intervention" (Sohn, et al., p. 872). With this study being one of the first of its kind to focus specifically on simulation training and smoking cessation, it can help lay a solid basis for a new study. • 11. Use Of A Tourniquet Is An Effective Means Of Arresting... The Tourniquet The use of a tourniquet is an effective means of arresting life–threatening external hemorrhage from a limb injury. The use of tourniquets has been documented in the annals of historical medicine as far back as 6th century BC. "The Hippocratic body of work mentions in passing tight bandaging and distal limb gangrene without noting hemorrhage control, probably because hemorrhage and death, although linked empirically, were not linked philosophically by the ancient Greeks. (Kragh, Swan, Smith, Mabry, & Blackbourne, 2012, para. 6)" The first reported use of a battlefield tourniquet was by French army surgeon, Etienne Morel in 1674 (Welling, McKay, Rasmussen, & Rich, 2011). The device included a belt that went through a wood block (with a hole at each end), and a stick was used in the loop of the belt around the limb to twist as a windlass; this was known as a block tourniquet. The actual word tourniquet originated from the French word toner, meaning to turn. A tourniquet is a constricting or compressing device used as a bandage to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time. Pressure is applied circumferentially to the skin and underlying tissues of a limb. The pressure is transferred to the walls of the vessels causing them to become temporarily occluded. A tourniquet can be used in an emergency situations to control life–threatening bleeding. Therefore, a tourniquet is an acceptable treatment for uncontrolled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Stranger By Albert Camus The Stranger "The Stranger," written by the Algerian writer Albert Camus, is a novel about Meursault, a character who's different and even threatening views on life take him to pay the highest price a person can pay: his life. This was Camus' first novel written in the early 1940's, in France, and it reflects the authors belief that there is no meaning in life and it is absurd for humans to try to find it places like religion. The main themes of the novel are irrationality of the universe and the meaningless of human life. During Meursault's trial after killing the "Arab," Meursault is questioned for several things that do not seem to have anything to do with the murder to a point where one wonders the actual reason for him to be in trial. Albert Camus professes his ideas on the absurd through Meursault in "the Stranger" to point out how pointless and irrational life actually is. After Meursault helps his friend Raymond to write a deceiving letter for Raymond's mistress in order to trick her into going back with Raymond so he could take revenge of her spitting of her face and hitting her for "letting him down," Raymond gets in trouble with the mistresses' brother. One day on the beach Meursault, Raymond and Masson (a friend) have an encounter with "the Arab" (the mistresses' brother) which leads Raymond to hand a gun to Meursault which later leads him to murder "the Arab." During the trial, Meursault is not only accused for the murder of the Arab, but also morally accused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Outsider, by Albert Camus and The Assault, by Harry... Camus and Mulisch present that the past and present are interrelated. The authors do this through the two characters, Meursault and Anton. Through Meursault, we see that his past actions affect the outcome of his trial. Through Anton, we see that his present situation constantly brings him back to his past despite him trying to escape it. Thus the authors stylistically link the past and present to demonstrate that they are inevitably related, where certain events are unavoidable or the past is undeniable. In 'The Outsider', the society continually brings back Meursault's past actions against his will, such as his behaviour at his mother's funeral. Under the rule of the French Colonialists, the French Algerian court is a microcosm of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this, the society tries to fabricate or impose rational explanations of Meursault's irrational action. This is evident during the trial process when the prosecutor rationally explains for Meursault the series of event that happened, although Meursault himself does not have a solid explanation for his actions. This brought Anton's past back to the present by discovering the motives of Takes and was "the first time that he had cried over what had happened." Before this, he was able to put the past behind him but was never able to escape it. When it was brought back to him, Takes' words reaches into his heart, and was why he cried. Mulisch shows aspects of the past will always catch up with the present and it is inescapable. Eventually, Anton comes to realize that he can never fully escape the past and has to accept the whole truth in order to find closure and experience true 'forgetting'. • 17. Albert Camus-the Outsider "Probably no European writer of his time left so deep a mark on the imagination." – Conor Cruise O'Brien. First published in French as L'Etranger in 1942, Albert Camus' The Outsider addresses the constrictive nature of society and what happens when an individual tries to break free from the conformity forced upon him by staying true to himself, and following his own ideal of absolute truth and sincerity in every action. Propelled more by the philosophy of existentialism and the notion of the absurd than plot and characters, Camus' novel raises many questions about life, and answers them in a final chilling climax. The plot of The Outsider revolves around a central act of unmeditated violence on a beach, proving that "the darkest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Existentialism refers to the philosophy that questions life which exists in a hostile environment. Camus, along with his friend, fellow writer, and French Resistance leader Jean–Paul Sartre pushed this train of thought into mainstream culture. In the extended essay The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus realises the only philosophical question worth asking is whether or not to commit suicide. The absurd nature of life referred to is the incompatibility of incomprehensible circumstances such as impending death, cruelty, violence, genocide and racism, and the overwhelming desire for, and expectation of a happy life and the principles of optimism. One primary example of the absurd given in the text is the co–existence of the suffering and joy in life. This view of absurdity is shared with the existentialist Simone de Beauvoir who contends that the suffering in death is a "scandal". The hostile environment, or constant, harsh circumstances are represented in the text by the oppressive heat of the sun which is ever–present at the side of Meursault's consciousness. He feels it as he walks to his mother's funeral service through the French countryside; He feels it beating down on him when he's out swimming with a girl, Marie; he feels its uncomfortable, abrasive fire inescapably as he fires the bullets into the Arab's body. • 18. How Does Attribution Affect A Person 's Behaviour? This study's aim is to interview participants to determine if context or the situation will alter a person's attributions towards a person's behaviour. Five participants were tested on three behaviours occurring in six different environments. We predicted that they would look at the situation/environment initially before looking internally at the actor to determine whether their behaviour or normal or abnormal. It is proven that situations are more important than the behaviour when judging someone's behaviour, as Bandura & Walter Mischel as social learning theorists argued (Basic psych). People are social animals, who we are and what we do is strongly influenced by our experiences of other people along the way and we are affected by the social situations that we find ourselves in. Attribution plays a central role in virtually every social encounter that people have with others. People witness behaviour in others and will seek to understand why events happen or why people behave in various situations. The context of such interactions can change the entire outcome of how a person will perceive other people or their behaviour. Various studies and theories have developed to explain why and how people make decisions on why people do things and have hypothesised that people make both internal and external attributions of others, based on the relation to different contexts, or that people behave differently to what is expected, normally, conventionally or abnormally....in ... • 19. Existentialism And The Absurd By Albert Camus In studying the works of authors, we are able to see the many factors that play a key role in their lives. These authors incorporate different components into their novels and stories to present a deeper meaning within their work. In his various books, short stories, and plays, the French–Algerian writer Albert Camus relates to his philosophical beliefs: specifically existentialism and the absurd, as well as his connecting idea of rebellion. Camus' most prominent works – such as the novels The Plague, The Stranger, The Rebel, and others – reflect these beliefs and ideas he held. Though he was and continues to be considered as one, Camus made a point of rejecting the label of an existentialist. Existentialism is essentially based on the idea that philosophy starts with the acceptance of being an actual living human individual or the "realization of existence." The term existence before essence basically means that the after this recognition of existence, "the essence," or qualities and defining traits, will follow. In existentialism a fundamental belief is that each and every individual has the responsibility of applying their own meaning to life and genuinely living life through this specific purpose (Wikipedia contributors). In these aspects, many of Camus' writings can therefore been seen as reflecting existentialism. In popular Greek myth, the character of Sisyphus is sent to Tartarus for tricking the gods. Two years after Albert was born, his sister, Maria, came into the picture, later becoming the best friend of his childhood. It is documented that Einstein's first interaction and true spark of major interest in science came at a rather young age of five or six, when his father showed him a compass. He was intrigued by the fact that no matter which way you spun it, it pointed in the same direction. It was not long after that Einstein began schooling in Petersschule (Peter's School) in Munich. Moving through Peter's School with not much difficulty, but moreover with a simple discomfort of the military style formality, he joined the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich at the age of ten. Despite his genius for which he is revered today, Einstein struggled in elementary school. In fact, Einstein had not learned to speak until the age of three, a rather late time relative to most children. Throughout these stages, babies repeat entertaining actions concentrated on their own body. The primary stage usually appears when they are between 1–4 months old (McLeod, 2010). This is when I started to continually kick my legs a lot, and I sucked on my thumb even more. Supposedly I smiled a bunch, and I loved looking at myself in the mirror (Personal archives, November 23, 2015). I also had my baptism during this stage; it was exactly a month and a week after I was born. Being the cereal lover that I am today, I learned that I had my first cereal when I was only 4 month's old. The secondary circular reactions stage usually occurs from 4–8 months old, and I started using more objects to keep myself entertained. My first tooth appeared when I was 6 months' old. The fourth sub stage takes place from 8–12 months of age, the stage of co–ordinating secondary schemes. During this stage, babies start showing signs that they can use knowledge to reach a goal (McLeod, 2010). This was a really huge stage for me in my life. At 8 months, I was able to sit without having any support from anyone. At 9 months old, I started to crawl, and then I took my first step at 10 months. Though the two tales may seem as if no similarities exist, the two tasks the protagonists endure bear subtle comparisons. Manfred, sentenced to eternal guilt and days of never ending solace, pushes his own boulder each day up the massive hill only for it to spiral down to the beginning, just as Sisyphus had before him. Evidence of such a struggle exists throughout the text. Isolationism Of The Stranger And The Thief Isolationism in The Stranger and The Thief Though there are multiple elements in both Albert Camus' The Stranger, and Fuminori Nakamura's The Thief that allow each author to develop their novels, none is more important that the deployment of isolationism. Though both Camus and Nakamura give their protagonists isolated states at an award winning level, Camus does so in a better way through the addition of how Meursault copes with elements of the absurd. One of the first things readers notice about Meursault that causes them to immediately identify him as an isolationist, is his indifference to companionship. Meursault truly only has two acquaintances: Marie, and Raymond. When each of them tries to define their relationship with Meursault, or make it seem more serious, Meursault does not seem thrilled in the least. "Marie came over that evening and asked if I'd marry her, I said I wouldn't mind" (Camus, 33). Though readers may first feel as though Meursault does not see the seriousness in marriage, that is not the case. Rather, Meursault simply feels that marriage is unnecessary. It is thoughts like these that not only further isolate Meursault from his friends, but cause even Marie to view Meursault as a "queer fellow" (Camus, 33). A Collection Of Social Analyses Following The World Wars Philosophical Superbloom: A Collection of Social Analyses Following the World Wars The human race has made tremendous advancements at a staggering rate over the past half–century. These advancements have taken form through the forms of technology, arts, and philosophy, just to name a few. Yet, there remains the question of whether society as a whole has progressed or if a decline in social justice has been the unfortunate price that we have paid for advancement elsewhere. Through fascist regimes and two of the most devastating wars in modern history, the early nineteenth century has left many searching for explanations as to how we have allowed for such atrocities to take shape. Erich Fromm analyzes the individual's eagerness for obedience in "The Individual in the Chains of Illusion." Albert Camus implements a nihilistic and existential commentary in "The Myth of Sisyphus." Jean–Paul Sartre stresses engagement within the individual in " Existentialism." Sigmund Freud explores the natural hostility of human nature in "Civilization and its Discontents." Finally, Vladimir Lenin denounces the capitalist and imperialist ideologies that several nations have recently adopted in "Revolutionary Politics in a World at War." These compositions are desperate attempts to deconstruct society and human nature to its core as a means to resolve global tensions. Obedience is a powerful tool that must be scrutinized in all instances. In fact, Fromm argues, "disobedience is as great a virtue as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chronicle of a Death Foretold and the Stranger Conflict Resulting From the Negative Effects of Rigid Societal Expectations in A Chronicle of A Death Foretold by Gabriel GarcГ a MГЎrquez and The Stranger by Albert Camus Everyone has felt the pressure of societal expectations during their lifetime. The negative effects society brings on one's life can lead to a feeling of rejection towards the people who do not conform to meet those standards. Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, author of Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and Albert Camus, author of The Stranger, both construct the external moral conflict of society versus the protagonist in order to critique the way society fails to accept the moral values of the people who differ from the norm. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meursault is a man who does not show his emotions very well, but instead focuses on his physical need; "I explained to him, however, that my nature was such that my physical needs often got in the way of my feelings" (65). Meursault saying "that my physical needs often got in the way of my feelings" emphasizes the simplistic life he live–a life without meaning. Showing emotions would signify a life with purpose, which Meursault does not believe. The Algerian society, in which the novella takes place, does not accept the type of lifestyle Meursault lives and believes every life should be lived with a purpose. Society's expectations clash with Meursault's values because his beliefs and outlooks on life are not accepted by society, which sets up the external conflict between the two. In the external conflict between society and the protagonist, GarcГa MГЎrquez emphasizes the negative effects society has on a person who goes against the social norm by showing the biased opinions towards the Pedro and Pablo Vicario regarding Santiago's murder. After brutally stabbing Santiago to death, the Vicario twins sprint to the church to inform the priest of their barbaric act; "Both were exhausted from the barbarous work of death, and their clothes and arms were soaked and their faces smeared with sweat and still living blood but the priest recalled the surrender as an act of great dignity"(49). • 35. Erikson 's Theory Of Psychosocial Development Essay Psychosocial Development "Erik Erickson (1902–1994) was best known for his work on stages of psychosocial development and identity crisis" (Cherry, A Brief Biography of His Remarkable Life, 2016). Erickson was able to gain a clear focus on children and was able to interpret what he was seeing by observing children throughout the life, including events of childhood, adulthood, and old age. "Erikson 's theory posits that every human being passes through several distinct and qualitatively different stages in life, from birth to death." According to him, the stages are universal, and the ages which one is said to have passed from one to another stage are also fairly universal" (Ramkumar, 2002). Erikson developed eight stages of psychosocial development that analysis personality, behavior and understanding for facilitating personal development of self and others. Erikson 's theory demonstrates that individuals face challenges in each stage of development and may not reach their milestones. "According to Erikson, although there is a predominant issue at each stage, the stages are not watertight. Issues of one stage overlap with issues of another; how one has dealt with earlier issues determines how one will resolve later issues" (Ramkumar, 2002). Autonomy vs. Shame There are two types of stages within the Early Childhood development; Autonomy vs. Shame and Initiative vs. Guilt. Autonomy vs. Shame range from two to three years of age and begin to explore their world. This age is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Theory Application Of Learning Mechanisms Of Change... TheoristTheory DescriptionCharacteristics of the TheoryProcessApplication of LearningMechanisms of ChangeReaction when theory is appliedBasic ObservationOutcomes Bandura (1977) Social Learning Theory: Albert Bandura's Social Learning Theory believes that learning occurs in a social context through observation, imitation, and direct instruction. It comprises of attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation.*Attention *Retention *Reproduction *Motivation*Attention – this implies that to accurately learn by observation, a person must pay attention to the person doing the modeling and should steer away from any possible distraction. *Retention – this is a poignant part of the social learning process as the behavior may have been observed, but it is not always remembered which thus prevents imitation or mimicry (McLeod, 2006). *Reproduction– this is the process where the 'student' practices the recently learned behavior, and it is majorly dependent on the physical capabilities of the observer to reproduce the behavior. *Motivation – a person has to value the benefit of continuously performing the action. Therefore, this development is often driven by positive reinforcement for demonstrating the behavior correctly or punishment for applying the behavior inappropriately (Sincero, 2011). Bandura 's Social Learning Theory has been used to understand the behavior of children in a social setting. For example, a new student who observes how his/her peers ... • 37. The Industrial Distribution Program At Texas A And M... It is after a good deal of self–assessment that I have decided to pursue undergraduate studies in the Industrial Distribution program at Texas A and M University. As a statement of purpose for admission into the school, I describe here, my areas of interest, why I chose Texas A and M, and my objectives and career goals. Ever since elementary school, I have been a big fan of engineering. My inspiration came from the likes of Graham Bell and Albert Einstein with the invention of the telephone and the mass–energy equivalence equation, respectively. With the aim to join them in the wall of fame, I participated actively in my science and math classes, and clubs related to the field. As I grew older and had the fortunate chance of working at various retail stores, I began to develop an interest in business and how it worked. It was only a matter of time before this interest was strengthened and I began contemplating whether to major in engineering or business. This unfortunately left me indecisive in my choice of major for a while in college. But after a visit to a Texas A and M prospective student center, I was informed about the Industrial Distribution program and at that moment, I was certain of what I wanted to study. My exposure in the field of engineering can be traced back to my high school days. Not only did I take science classes such as physics, but I was also a member of two engineering clubs which taught numerous material outside the school's curriculum. With that ... One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." (Einstein). Through Albert Einstein 's eyes, everything that exists in the world is a miracle. Einstein 's discoveries have proved the science world that the elements which make up the earth are indeed miracles. Albert Einstein is one of the most accomplished mathematicians and scientists known to man. His contributions to both science and mathematics have affected the way one views the world in a physical sense as well as a theoretical and philosophical sense. Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany on March 14, 1879. Einstein was raised in a middle–class Jewish household where his father, Hermann Einstein was a retailer and an electrician, while his mother, Pauline Koch, was a homemaker. Einstein also had a younger sister, Maja, who was two years younger than him (Albert Einstein–Bio.com). When Einstein was old enough to be enrolled in school, his father, Hermann Einstein, moved the family to Munich, Germany where Albert Einstein attended elementary school. As a child, Einstein developed a speech impediment which contributed to the struggles he experienced with the rigorous Munich school system. But despite the issues and complications he experienced in school, Einstein formed a sense of curiosity which helped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Existentialism, Nihilism, And Objectivism From the beginning of time people have pondered existence and what it means to truly "Be', indeed the most important questions that one can ask are those of a metaphysical nature. The deeper questions that seek to explain the reason we're here in the first place, if for any reason at all. It's easy to get lost in the many differing theories proposed from Determinism to Rationalism to Solipsism to Absurdism the possible theories one can ascribe as correct are endless. But the ones that try to answer those big questions in the most general of terms are the ones that seem to hold the most verisimilitude. Existentialism, Nihilism, and Objectivism are the most general, and although quite different they are also quite similar. But existentialism seems to be the one which offers the most hope for optimism or any concern for altruism and personal growth. To begin with it should be taken into consideration the circumstances in which humanity found itself in when these sort philosophical musings of ontology became so prevalent among the society of thinkers and intellectuals. With the turbulence and constant change of the late 19th and 20th century it only makes sense that people would begin to wonder what it all really means. With wars, genocide, and poverty contrasted against the unprecedented industrial and technological advances of the time not to mention the exponential growth in some populations, it became easier and easier to lose one 's identity as the world begins to ... • 40. A Teacher Leadership At Lake Oconee Academy Teacher leaders and administrators play a vital role in the overall organizational structure of a school. As discussed in Educational Leadership, there are ten roles that teacher leaders tend to gravitate towards. The roles of teacher leaders vary according to duties and responsibilities placed on the teacher leader, they include the following: resource provider, instructional specialist, curriculum specialist, classroom supporter, learning facilitator, mentor, school leader, data coach, catalyst for change, and learner (Harrison & Killion, 2007, pg. 74–77). So, to begin this research journey, I feel my role as a leader focuses on supporting the teachers, providing resources for teachers, learning along with the teachers, and actively embracing and promoting change within our learning continuum. When reviewing our data at Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) , over the past few years, the LOA data team has identified a relative weakness in our science and social studies scores as student reach the end of their elementary years into the beginning of their middle school years. As we reflect back over the past few years, we have begun to realize that professional development has been given to teachers in English Language Arts, writing, and mathematics; but we have failed to offer any professional development opportunities in the areas of science and social studies. As we have discussed this topic future, we have begun to identify weaknesses amongst of staff, curriculum, and teacher–preparation programs. Primary teachers at LOA, Kindergarten through second grade, have reported that during their undergraduate coursework there were provided no instruction in the areas of science and social studies.
