HRD is the integrated use of :-
training and development,
organisational development, and
career development to improve individual, group and organisational effectiveness.\"
1. Training and Development
HRD involves training and developing the employees and managers. It improves their qualities, qualifications and skills. It makes them more efficient in their present jobs. It also prepares them for future higher jobs.
2. Organisational Development (OD)
HRD also involves Organisational Development. OD tries to maintain good relations throughout the organisation. It also solves problems of absenteeism, internal conflicts, low productivity and resistance to change.3. Career Development
HRD also involves career planning and development of employees. It helps the employees to plan and develop their careers. It informs them about future promotions and how to get these promotions. So HRD helps the employee to grow and develop in the organisation.I. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMSBackgroundIn today’s global economy and competition for talent, the Training and Development Program has become an important vehicle for developing and keeping talented personnel. Research findings provide evidence that organization depends largely on training and development program when competition for required talent is intense and findings qualified individuals are quite difficult and expensive. The ever-increasing competitiveness among organizations has motivated ACD to design its Training and Development Programs.ObjectiveThe HRTD Program aims to develop and sustain knowledgeable, skilled, competent and dedicated personnel who will deliver the best services to his/her clients and to help the management meet the school’s strategic goals and objectives to improve organizational performanceOrientation Program for New EmployeesThis organization- wide orientation is conducted to provide the new employees information about the organization, its history, vision-mission- goals, philosophy and objectives, best practices, accomplishments and value statements. It is a starting point for the organization to develop shared- value systems among its employees. It is held for a period of one week before the opening of classes.Exposure and Immersion (E-I) ProgramThis is a program of the school in cooperation with the community partners committed to work on behalf of the poor. The annual E-I which is conducted for a period of one week has paved the way for the employees’ strengthened solidarity with the poor since 1985.Spiritual Dimension Goal: To develop a holistic spirituality that is grounded in faith and in Gospel valuesStages: Prayerfulness, Stewardship, Evangelizing PresenceSocio- Political Dimension Goal: To become rooted in social realities and committed to transformative educationStages: Contextualization & Empathy, Critical Consciousness, Response to Social ActionProfessional Dimension Goal: To develop high level of skills and competenceStages: Basic competencies. Career Planning and Counseling. The focus of this activity is to help staff with their personal career planning. This involves the establishment of long-and short-term goals and then designing the educational plan necessary to accomplish these goals. Ideally, this would involve a computer data base that would maintain records of the training, education, or development needs of the individual and match individual needs with educational opportunities. 2. Training. These activities focus on the improvement of the actual job performance of both staff and volunteers. Training should be offered so it will be immediately used on the job and primarily in the form of in-service training. 3. Education. The organization should provide an opportunity for employees to take advantage of formal educational offerings at institutions of higher education. These opportunities should be provided to individuals needing large amounts of new knowledge to be able to function in their present position or to become prepared to assume the responsibilities of another position within the organization. This allows the organization to plan for future promotions and for employees to plan for their career advancement. 4. Development. Developmental activities focus on the organization. All organizations must change and grow to remain viable. Extension must provide learning experiences that allow staff to move in new directions required by organizational change. Extension must remain visionary. Equipping staff to meet the needs of a changing world is essential for Extension to be a leader in education, not a follower. 5. Quality of Work Life. Studies have shown that employees are more satisfied, have less turnover, and are generally more productive when they feel that their employer is concerned about them as individuals.
