Importance of and satisfaction with employee relationships with management aspects
HR TODAY
Internal Client
• The customers of HR – line managers, senior managers and employees –
want a function that is responsive, proactive and professional.
• Managers and employees want support from HR people with real
professional expertise: ‘people partners’ who can help them address their
people issues in the business context.
• HR functions should obtain much more thorough feedback from their
internal customers – line managers, senior managers and employees.
• Customers said that they valued an HR function that was fair,
knowledgeable, did not hinder their work and protected employee
interests.

HR Next 10 years…
Transforming HR to meet new business priorities
HR Model : Life Cycle of an employee.
Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
Working in UAE
A nation of expats
 UAE is relying heavily
on foreign labor to keep
its projects and
economy running.
 around 55% of UAE´s
total population come
from South Asia.
 Emiratis, amount to
about 10% of the total
population.
Working Hours
UAE Labor law :”The maximum prescribed
working hours for an adult employee is
eight hours daily or forty-eight hours per
week. However, the working hours may
be increased to nine hours per day in the
case of persons employed in trades,
hotels, cafeterias, guards”.
Salaries
• Salaries paid in UAE are tax free.
• Salaries vary widely in Dubai, depending on your qualifications and negotiation skills.
• No minimum wage rates or standardized salaries.
• Salaries also vary widely depending on nationalities, qualifications, experience, employee
history and other random factors.
• Basic salary is what is a negotiated rate stipulated in your labor contract. The amount is
important, as it is the basis of calculation for your end-of-service gratuity pay.
• If leaving within a year – No Gratuity
• More than a year, but, less than 5 years – 21 days of basic salary
• More than 5 years – 21 days’ basic pay for up to 5 years, apart from remaining 30 days basic
salary per day wage.
Employment Benefits
• Gratuity shall be calculated on the basis
of last drawn basic salary of an employee.
• Annual leave of 30 days after completing
each year of service.
• After the probation an employee shall be
entitled to sick leave not more than 90
days either continuous or intermittent per
each year of service, computed as below:
• Maternity Leave of 45 days
• Medical Insurance Covered
• 1 round trip ticket to point of origin in
connection with annual Leave every year.
UAE Law
• The Federal Supreme Council is the main governing body of the seven emirates.
• The UAE Labor Law is a federal Law, that covers all aspects of employee-employer relationships. It applies to all staff
working in all the emirates of the Federation whether nationals or expatriates.
• UAE Companies Commercial Law applies to all companies operating in the UAE.
• UAE Immigration Law controls the flow of foreigners in and out of its borders.
Lifestyle
• Culture in Dubai is rooted in Islamic traditions that form UAE National's lifestyles. It is highly important that when tourists
visit Dubai they must respect and behave suitably, as the Emiratis are very protective over their culture and traditions.
• Dubai is famously known as the entertainment capital of the Middle East.
• Alcohol is not forbidden in Dubai, as long as it is confined within an area like a hotel, bar or nightclub. Residents are free to
drink in their own homes as long as they have an alcohol licence issued by the municipality.
• Emiratis tend to dress in their traditional clothes influenced by their Islamic belief. Most men prefer the traditional dishdasha
or khandura (a long white shirt-dress), with ghutra (a white headdress) and agal (a rope worn to keep the ghutra in place).
The Emirati women tend to wear an abaya (a long black cloak), which is worn over conservative clothes, with a sheyla or
hijab (a scarf used to wrap around the face and head).
• Photographs of government buildings, military installations, ports and airports should not be taken.
• The most religious time of the year in Dubai, is the fast of Ramadan, which lasts approximately for one month.
